fightingsioux4life
A blizzard has pretty much shut down Grand Forks and surrounding areas on this President's Day. http://www.crh.noaa.gov/wxstory.php?site=fgf Schools and a lot of businesses are closed today. If you can help it, don't travel.
darell1976
Winds are making a mess here in Fargo. Roughly 40+ mph. I am glad kids have no school today (President's Day).

darell1976
Blizzard Warning was extended to the Southern Valley after I posted this. Travel at your own risk. I-94 was closed from Valley City to Jamestown due to several accidents. There was a 5 or 6 car fender bender at 19th Ave N (my usual route to and from work) near Hector Airport this morning. Roads are horrible and its supposed to be this way until tomorrow.
Cratter
Who gets presidents day off the government? Most people are still working and going on life as if it were normal.
Cratter
I remember when blizzards use to mean storms and not blowing snow. By blizzard they mean there is low visibility in the country. Traveling in forks is fine.
Cratter
On second thought although vis is alright. The plows aren't out so if you don't have four wheel you might get stuck.

I did, but I am a county employee. Of course, I get tomorrow morning at least off too...as I am in Crookston and work in Minot.

Nobody waits longer than Grand Forks to send the plows out - just went for groceries - roads are passible but crappy. Would it kill them to plow a little. Cratter
Remember when people use to stock up at the grocery store when storms were coming? I just order pizza.

The storm started Thursday night and was over by Saturday night; by Sunday you could get around town pretty good.

Not saying they don't work hard or do a good job of clearing things out - their policy seems to be to wait until every flake has fallen until they start to plow - once they start, they're great, but sometimes I wish they would do some plowing earlier
