Cam Neely and the Boston Bruins have raised new era-specific banners in the Garden...it has always bothered me that UND championship teams of past eras have banners in REA which use a logo that came decades AFTER their achievements. If the Sioux nickname does indeed go by the wayside but items of "historical value" are allowed to be retained, why wouldn't REA showcase pretty much the entire logo history of Sioux championships on the national title banners? I think this would be a perfect way to cherish the memory of the Fighting Sioux...and at least be historically accurate.

Honestly, I've always been a bit curious about this. The banner that's hanging should be the one that was originally hoisted in the year it was won. That would mean it would have the logo from that time period on it.

Yeah, I always found it strange that the championship banners from the 80's in the Old Ralph used the geometric logo even though the teams exclusively (correct me if i am wrong) wore the Blackhawk logo. But so what; we were still the Sioux...

Hmmmm....makes me think that someone from the SS.com "art department" might be all over this. I bet it's a matter of time before we see some renditions of what the banners will look like.

1959 Sammy the Sioux would look pretty sweet, IMO.
