fan1234 Posted November 21, 2003 Posted November 21, 2003 Blais said on the coaches show that he was giving the upper classmen a chance and that perhaps a freshman would take their place if they don't produce. I think it's only a matter of time before Stafford is on the PP but in the "pecking order" of players they already have one Freshman (Murray) so the others will get a chance. How many 200lb potential first rounders with soft hands and a scoring touch are not on their college teams' PP? Quote
sioux fan in phoenix Posted November 21, 2003 Posted November 21, 2003 What was the deal with Herter anyway? Tough to imagine that a guy picked that high would never pan out... Quote

Some of the best players come from the later rounds...I believe that Martin Brodeur was something like a 3rd or 4th round pick. Quote
redwing77 Posted November 21, 2003 Posted November 21, 2003 Daigle never really panned out and he was first overall.. By the way, Hasek was picked beyond the 4th round. Balfour was UNDRAFTED Luc Robitaille was picked 200 plus overall. I think even Gretzky wasn't a first rounder (but that is highly speculative) Quote

Diggler Posted November 21, 2003 Posted November 21, 2003 Yeah, Gretzky signed with the Indianapolis Racers(?). Shortly after signing, the Racers folded and the Oilers purchased Gretzky or something like that. Then Edmonton and some of the other WHL teams were later absorbed by the NHL. If he would've been drafted, he would've went pretty darn high even if he was considered small.
