darell1976 Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/195661 After a potential booking at the Alerus Center this month fell through over concerns about their material and the ongoing UND Fighting Sioux nickname controversy, another local venue has stepped in. The Whistler Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Prepare for protests against a comedy act of all things!! What ironic about that is that Williams and Ree have been out there for 40 years and probably brought the races together as much as anyone by having us laugh at ourselves. Quote
Fighting Sioux Fan Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 If I go, I am going to wear a Sioux jersey! 1 Quote
iluvdebbies Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Really, 40 years? 30 I would believe, as I remember seeing them in GF at the Sportsmen's Show one year back in the early to mid 80's, but had never heard of them before that. And from what I remember, yes they were very funny. would you believe 42+ years ?? Quote
dmksioux Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 You kind of had to figure that some venue in GF would take advantage of this opportunity. I'm guessing the Empire will have 2 sold out shows for this event. Quote
CMSioux Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 This is humorous and you've got to admire the Empire's ingenuity for jumping on this. They should offer a $1 off or free popcorn to anyone wearing Fighitng Sioux clothing. On a related note if testimony on the bill is expected on Monday when will the vote take place - This performance will have no impact on the actual issue it just makes great news copy and good for the Empire!
