redwing77 Posted October 31, 2003 Posted October 31, 2003 UND 5-3, 3-1 Parise-Ziggy in Game 1, Brandt in Game 2. Aw what the hell, the one goal in game two will be attributed to a bad call by the ref. Maybe one or two on Friday too. Quote
Fighting Sioux Hockey Posted October 31, 2003 Posted October 31, 2003 UND 5-2, 4-1 I say Brandt and Ziggy in Game 1 and Parise in Game 2. Bo with a hat trick on Friday and Murray with his first two goals on Saturday. Quote
UMDDogz Posted October 31, 2003 Posted October 31, 2003 UMD hosts Alaska-Anchorage. These are the games we need to win. Last years losses to Bemidji State, Wisco x2, and Tech really hurt the Dogs. We need to take care of the lower end teams, although UAA looks improved this year. Very nervous about this series, and what will happen to the Dogs rankings if they don't sweep. The Sioux better watch out that the Nat'l #1 bug doesn't bite them this weekend!! Good luck! Quote
Wilbur Posted October 31, 2003 Posted October 31, 2003 Looking forward to an excellent weekend of college hockey. I won't be at the Saturday night game, but I'll be watching it on TV from Fargo. Parise is in the nets tonight looking to build on his perfect record. I'll predict 4-1 Sioux. Quote
sioux fan in phoenix Posted October 31, 2003 Author Posted October 31, 2003 I'll predict 2 Sioux victories, but the Saturday game will be more lopsided as the Sioux will be rolling 4 lines all weekend & Yale will be pretty tired by the 2nd period tomorrow night... Quote
PCM Posted October 31, 2003 Posted October 31, 2003 Here's an article from the New Haven Register about the series between UND and Yale. Quote
CoteauRinkRat Posted October 31, 2003 Posted October 31, 2003 Found the Yale article interesting, in that the writer makes it seem that we wouldn't have beat them if it wasn't for the fight and their players getting ejected. Quote
UMDDogz Posted October 31, 2003 Posted October 31, 2003 I'm predicting a Sioux sweep as well. probably 4-1 or 4-2 tonight, then 7-2 tomorrow. Quote
mksioux Posted November 1, 2003 Posted November 1, 2003 Found the Yale article interesting, in that the writer makes it seem that we wouldn't have beat them if it wasn't for the fight and their players getting ejected. ...and the writer seems to think UND is located in North Forks, N.D. Not the best journalism. Quote
PCM Posted November 1, 2003 Posted November 1, 2003 ...and the writer seems to think UND is located in North Forks, N.D. And East North Forks is right across the Red River of the West in South Canada. Quote
mksioux Posted November 1, 2003 Posted November 1, 2003 And East North Forks is right across the Red River of the West in South Canada. At least the linked article used to say North Forks....unless I'm going crazy. Quote
Smoggy Posted November 1, 2003 Posted November 1, 2003 Funny bit on cstv about club hockey in Oklahoma . Quote

UMDDogz Posted November 1, 2003 Posted November 1, 2003 Caig scored from the blueline unscreened just like in the Gopher game!! What a shot!! Dogs lead after 1 period: 3-0 Quote
Marty Posted November 1, 2003 Posted November 1, 2003 Caig scored from the blueline unscreened just like in the Gopher game!! What a shot!! Dogs lead after 1 period: 3-0 No one cares about the UMD updates Quote

redwing77 Posted November 1, 2003 Posted November 1, 2003 No one cares about the UMD updates I really don't mind the UMD updates as long as it doesn't turn into a pissing contest between UMD and UND. However, in this case, the UMD game bears no relevance to UND (unlike the UMD vs UM series) so I'd say final score updates would be fine. Quote
PCM Posted November 1, 2003 Posted November 1, 2003 My USCHO recap on Friday's Yale-UND game is posted. I'm not sure it's been mentioned, but David Lundbohm was injured in Friday's game. I believe he was hurt in the second period. Blais said they wrapped his thigh and he tried to play, but couldn't go. I'm guessing that we won't see him tonight. Genoway has been playing well. I'm thinking that he'll probably center the second or third line while Canady will center the fourth line. I think Fylling's first goal was actually scored by McMahon. The replay from overhead showed that Fylling's shot didn't get past Gartner. The puck crossed the line only after McMahon came by and whacked at it. I was surprised that McMahon didn't get credit for the goal. Bochenski had a goal off a skate deflection. This time, it didn't count, which didn't surprise me. Quote

I was surprised that McMahon didn't get credit for the goal. That goal clearly was knocked in by McMahon. At first he wasn't even credited with a point on the play, but at least they changed the scoring and gave him the second assist. On the post-game radio show Blais voiced his displeasure with having a forward be -2 for the night, especially considering UND scored 8 goals. A check of the boxscore shows that Massen was -2 and Palmo and Greene were also on the negative side. Quote
