andtheHomeoftheSIOUX!!
I was thinking more along the lines of locally I want to learn how to snowboard this winter. So any advice would be greatly appreciated! I don't snowboard, I ski, so I'm no help there. As for local places, there is Frostfire up by Walhalla and then some places to the east in Minnesota. Any of them would be fine to start learning to snowboard.

BigGreyAnt41
Next to the Rockies, the only decent place would be Lutsen north of Duluth. As a beginning, I suppose any of the small places will do, but only until you hit the mountains for the first time. After that anything around here will bore you to death after a couple hours. (And by "around here" I mean anywhere in MN)
BudLight
Well thank ya for the info! Now I just need some snow!
fargosioux
Giants Ridge in Biwabik, MN is a nice place also. May not be on par with Lutsen, but it's got to be a close second as far as Minnesota ski areas go, plus it's closer (from the F-M area anyway). Plus, you can visit the US Hockey Hall of Fame in Eveleth while you are there.

Lutsen has the longest runs - Giants > Spirit.
