darell1976
Both Midwest and West regionals have yet to be determined in 2010 or 11. What the Ralph's chances now that the nickname lawsuit is done.

I think almost none because i think I heard shortly after the 2006 regional here that the NCAA wants to try to go away from having on campus sites host regionals. I might be completely wrong but I think that's what I heard or read.

I understand that the regional up here was the second most successful hockey regional for the NCAA ever. They certainly don't want to let that happen again. I fail to see how we're any better off playing against the Gophers in the Xcel as opposed to Mariucci, except for the size of the ice sheet of course. siouxfan123
While I would like to see the Ralph get another West Regional, I would also like to see a West Regional in Omaha. UNO gets a good crowed despite having an average team and add one of the large WCHA teams and either a CCHA or Hockey East team and I think you would have a successful regional. Plus Omaha has enough to do to keep ones interest during the down times (Zoo, Casinos, etc.).

siouxfan123
How big is their arena? Around 16,680 for hockey, but they put up partitions for about half of the upper deck to make it feel like 10,000 for UNO hockey, but these move out of the way very easy. The Qwest Center is hosting the NCAA Div. I Men's Basketball first and second round regional this March and this summer is the US Swim Team Trials for the Olympic Games in Beijing. http://www.qwestcenteromaha.com/
siouxfan123
14,700 They added 1,500 seats to the arena in May 2006 giving it a few more seats for hockey, but regardless its around 15,000.

We were thru there this past summer and could have spent hours there...well, more hours than we already did. For those of you that think Cabela's in EGF is nice, you should see this place. Mr. Siouxmama and Miss Siouxmama (Daughter) thought they had died and gone to heaven. And I got a ton of christmas shopping done!
HaksHomey
If Omaha hosted a regional I would be the happiest person on earth... if they opened up all the seats like they do for Creighton games, then it would be awesome. When they partition off seats for their "banners" it makes that huge arena look empty
