Those of you pushing "moving on" could find a better mode than forcing in a new nickname. In fact the effect of doing so may be opposite your desired outcome. In other words, a new nickname could make "Fighting Sioux" supporters even more resolute instead of easing the transition. If you are fighting the fight to move on, UND itself is working against you by perpetuating the Fighting Sioux brand in the REA Sioux shop. So anyone who places importance on moving on could aim their activism in that direction instead.

You'd better prepare yourself for a big surprise...

Do I believe it could be bad press? Sure. Do I believe it must be? Of course not. I stream about 20 road games per year. The broadcasters mention the issue at least once in nearly every game. Yet I have no memory of a single instance of judgment or disparagement. maybe you are talking about our home announcers?

If all you no-nickname supporters united and threatened to vote for Sundogs a lot of people on here would be begging for no nickname back.

That part I do not believe. It is neutral at worst.

The difference between Roughriders and Rough Riders should be put to people's attention. I thought we were done arguing about Teddy.

Here's one exception. RR is at the bottom of my list, but Sundogs near the middle.

When I see "Nodaks" I think of Ralph Nader.

Schedule is up. Highlights: --Nov 13, 1st regular season game is @ Hannah Stewart's Iowa Hawkeyes. --Nov.28, @ Oregon --December is stacked, including NDSU (12th,) South Dakota (19th,) and @Minnesota (23rd.) --Last 2 BSC games are at the Betty vs. Montana St. and Montana. Also, the roster has been updated and we're at 18 players as expected. The only question marks are the 3 redshirts.

Guys, is public opinion even the ultimate deciding factor here? Doesn't Kelly have veto power? If so, this debate over popularity is a bit pointless.

Next round they will have the freedom to simply express their favorites (and least favorites,) Last round they had to be somewhat "accountable" for their opinions.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to last round's "scores," considering that the next round will use a completely different scoring system.

Wow, you "Fighting Sioux Forever" guys sure do have some permanent branding scars.

Branding designers have more creative freedom when the subject is vague, as opposed to a subject with built-in imagery (i.e. Rough Riders).

This can be a plus to a brander.

You think removing "North" is a slight adjustment?

Those of you championing Roosevelt will be disappointed when you notice that ship has sailed. "Rough Riders" (affiliation to Teddy) was eliminated 2 rounds ago. On the other hand, "Roughriders" (general term) is the option you are left with. These branding people have already safeguarded against the idea of being tied to Teddy imagery should this nickname win somehow.
