    No Excuses

I agree with PCM, I thought the Sioux played very well defensively and JP was solid between the pipes. Berkhoel was a stone wall. I don't know that I have seen a more composed and confident tender. He made difficult saves look easy. I was expecting UND's speed up front on the big sheet to present more problems for Denver, but it seemed that they sat back and clogged the passing lanes. In the Gopher game I thought Isaac was the difference. I found it interesting that all three Bulldog goals were counter-attacks. The Goph's played their game of puck control and attack but couldn't finish, Isaac was fantastic stopping multiple point-blank opportunities. I tip my hat to the Dogs, they earned it. I will be cheering for them in Boston to end their drought.
  2. I'm glad the Dogs are healthy, this should be a classic.
  3. Watch it, the NCAA may cite you for a recruiting violation.
  4. I hope Zach stays, I love watching his game.
  5. Agreed it will be a great game but I am very much looking forward to it. I hope it lives up to Denver vs. UND.
  6. I agree, the Dogs will give the Gophers all they can handle. Can you tell me if anyone other than Lessard (read he is out for this weekend) is out? I didn't get a chance to see UMD yesterday. Impressive win though. Tough end to a great season for the Sioux. The "one and done" format does not ensure that the best team always wins. Until the end I thought this was the Sioux's year. Well, the Sioux are young and recruited a monster class so the future is bright.
  7. Some of us would!
  8. I couldn't even finish reading your post.
  9. The Dean has said he does not wish to face Mn again either. If they play, Drop the Puck! Back to topic, UND will leave Holy Cross crying for Mercy(hurst). 9-2 is about right.
  10. I watched the play over and over and have not seen that. I just don't want to go there. A great gaol by Bochenski, nuff said.
  11. The best defensemen make errors, sometimes costly ones. I'm sure Greene will forget it and play solid hockey. On the plus side Greene coming back (if he decides to) may influence Thomas to return too! Does anybody else's week seem boring until they drop the puck!
  12. Actually Keith is a visual learner, he had learned from Greene earlier in the period : 1. How to assist T. Vanek in tying the score 3-3. 2. How to look absolutely foolish when T. Vanek schools him with his patented "between the legs" move. Only a good save from Brandt pulled his burned tale out of the fire.
  13. If the Sioux don't win I hope the Gophers win too! I agree with your pro-WCHA take. Let the dominance continue.
  14. WPoS, you forgot "drop the puck" or in this case "throw the dart".
  15. It doesn't take much to bewilder Dougie when it comes to pronunciations. Just think if he had to say "Mazacco" regularly. I think his mis-pronunciations are endearing and entertaining. On a related note, did you hear all the love he was giving the Sioux and especially Bochenski & Parise in the Final 5 Championship? I just replayed it (you have to tape it when it's a "hang a banner" game) and thought he'd be wearing green between periods. Perhaps he thought it was still St.Patty's day.
  16. 3-PEAT at the Fleet. Thanks for the brackets, I hope my picks go better then my Stanford/Kentucky final. I suppose most of you don't.

If only you would have added "St." to your Michigan Nostradamus (I think I butchered that name) would be jealous.
  18. If you think the Sioux are much better then the Gophers you are delusional. The Sioux are a great team and have earned their ranking. Both teams are favorites to win a title. Leave it at that and dial the machismo down. BTW, I did see Vanek thank Greene for the assist on his goal. I agree that the Sioux have bounced back well this year after tough losses and have the character to do it again. IMO they will have to play better then Sat. night to win a title. I've only seen them play 7 times this year and have seen them play much better.

PCM may it be as you have stated.
  21. Bottom line: The Sioux have the better resume over the season and have earned the #1 overall seed. However, the Gophers have stepped-up their intensity and have equal talent with the Sioux and IMO the two teams are even on neutral ice. They are both Great teams.
  22. How right you were... it was an even game and in the end the difference was goaltending.
  23. I just finished watching a tape of the game...That's why I love College Hockey! I am emotionally spent. I agree that Irmen should have been MVP. These teams are both worthy of Frozen 4 bids and I hope they meet again in Boston. WPoS, I like your chances in your bet with Goon. Personally, I don't care where they stick the Gophers for the Tourney. C. Springs, Grand Rapids, if the Gophers play with the heart they showed last night they can take all comers on the road to Boston. Big Picture: I'm glad nobody got hurt last night, IMO these teams will meet again in Beantown.
  24. Since this game has little to no impact on the NCAA seedings I think the major concern is that nobody from either team gets hurt. That said, to me this game rides on how much desire the gophers play with (Sioux intensity is more consistent). I believe (hope) that UMN plays like they did in outscoring the #4 team in the 6-1 and outshooting them 32-13 (WOW!) in the 2nd and 3rd periods last night and deny the Sioux the Broadmoor 5-4 in O.T. with a goal from a hustling Thomas Vanek taking advantage of an over-agressive Brandt. Bigger picture I hope this game is a pre-curser to another meeting in Boston.
