  1. I can't wait until The Ralph has an expansion to 18,000 seats and I can whine about the "North Dakota Rule"!
  2. I enjoy reading the UND perspective on most subjects and I have found that nearly all your fans are intelligent and reasonable. Let's make sure the all the hate-in is not misplaced. The WCHA established the "Minnesota Rule", not the U of M. As stated earlier, it's all about $$$$. I don't like the rule either, I'd rather take Friday afternoon off and watch UMN/UMD then work. I have a solution. Build an 18,000 seat building in Fargo and fill it for every UND night game in the final five and then I can complain about the "North Dakota Rule"!
  3. CC 4-1 over Denver 11:00 left in 2nd Period
  4. Final.....7-3 Gophers, on to the Final Five.
  5. Win some, lose some. Both teams are absolutely loaded for the next couple of years, should be great hockey.
  6. Speaking of recruiting, it sounds like R.J. Anderson of Centennial will committ to UMN soon.
  7. Hirsch from Ryan Potulny. Potulny with 4 pts. tonight. 7-2. JBSU scores 7-3. 10:30 remaining
  8. Riddle from Vanek. Riddle with the Hattie! 6-2 Gophers
  9. Grant Potulny Scores on PP 5-2 Gophers
  10. MNS, I think Goon is a closet Gopher fan.
  11. Ballard is a very talented offensive D-man with his two biggest assets being his skating and his shot. In college he can skate his way out of trouble in his own end and is proficient at lugging the puck, one of the best UMN has had. His skating also allows him to join a rush quickly, and if he has space his slapper and snapper are deadly. However, he gambles too much and it leads to many odd-mans the other way. On the PP his accurate shot is a howitzer, but he could learn to be a bit more creative playmaking wise ala Martin, Leo, Crowley. Defensively he has grown this year. In open ice his poke-check is very effective and starts rushes. He'll throw a hip now and then and is difficult to beat one-on one. He needs to get stronger physically for the NHL and chases too much on the PK. One more year in college hockey playing major minutes would serve him well, as well as Gopher fans. FYI, I can't believe GOON complimented a Gopher, that's like Norm offering to buy Cliffy a beer!
  12. As a Gophers fan I'm pulling for UND this weekend so the Dogs can't rest against the Red Menace next week. However, if the permed Golden Boys can't raise the Big Banner I hope UMD wins it's first, then UND next.
  13. CoteauRinkRat you beat me to the punch.
  14. Just watched the tape of UMD vs. UMN. No question the dogs were hungrier than the gophers, or should I say loafers. It's fun to watch teams like UND and UMD that never take a shift off. That series will be unbelievable. Both those teams have earned the top of the standings with among other things, consistent effort. Tonight's game will be a huge "attitude" game for the loafers. They need to beat UMD just like they needed to beat UND in the Saturday game at Mariucci. It won't be easy at the DECC against a charged-up team that loves to beat big-brother. Although the Goph's always seem to play best with their backs against the wall. BIG GAME TONIGHT! Hats off to UMD, you thouroughly earned the W last night.
  15. I hope the NCAA has the nuggets to put UND, UMD and UMN in different regions. This is a year where the WCHA has a great chance to get two, or even three in the Frozen Four.
  16. Final five Champ gets the automatic bid. Supertrex, no team in the WCHA is that dominant right now.
  17. It is unfortunate but true that when one team goes through a tough stretch the idiots and rubes of another start to bash. Thankfully the starter of this thread does not represent the feelings of most gopher fans. I am a gopher fan and enjoy reading this board for the sioux perspective on things. I am embarassed by the mindless and unfounded taunting by this clown. The Sioux is down for now as they went into a hostile environment against a team that was smarting. The talent level of the Sioux won't allow them to drop too far and they will undoubtably turn it around soon. I'm sure we will see you guys again in March or April.
  18. While I agree that the lack of PP scoring has not hurt the Sioux to this point it could come back to bite them later. They have been so dominant 5 on 5 that they haven't needed it. What if they meet a team that can play with them at regular strength and also has strong special teams? Regardless, UND has earned it's #1 ranking and will undoubtably win the regular season title.
  19. Later in the same broadcast Woog said that next week the best two teams in the country will face each other in Mariucci. Perhaps your selective-listening ears didn't hear that. I'm really not that comfortablr defending Woog, I think he is a mediocre to slightly above average announcer, but I would much rather listen to his ramblings than watch him standing behind the Gophers bench! I can't wait for next weekend. I don't see either team blowing-out the other. My guess is that they will be low-scoring and tight-checking with lots of big hits. BTW, what's wrong with the Sioux PP? With all the scoring they have up front they should be much better. Is it the lack of an offensive defensemen as the anchor? I'm just surprised by the 13.3%.
