  1. Are you still spinning your crazy fantasies? BTW, the MVC was not one of the conferences Darell76 mentioned.
  2. More evidence of the rise of the Summit League.
  3. That's exactly what the old MidCon/Summit was. It's not anymore.
  4. Huh? It certainly was an issue at the time NDSU was trying to get into the Big Sky. But, similar to UND, we needed a home for all of our sports and the BSC seemed to be the best shot. As I said before, NDSU was fortunate that Big Sky turned it down. Also, when did NDSU try to get into any of those other conferences?
  5. Yes, it would be false, if anyone had said that.
  6. You know, I have never heard an NDSU fan deny that NDSU wanted in the Big Sky in the worst way. Fortunately, the Big Sky turned us down and things have worked out much better in Summit/MVFC. Of course had NDSU been accepted into the Big Sky, the Summit would not now be any better than the old MidCon. So, I guess it worked out well for everyone...well everyone except UND, which is stuck on an island with its nearest away games over 800 miles away.
  7. The problem is that UND fans tend to present the story as UND having chosen the Big Sky over the Summit because they preferred it to the Summit. That is, on its face, misleading or outright false.
  8. What cheap shot are you referring to? If you mean the "small mind" comment, only a small mind would refuse to see that the current Summit ain't the old MidCon. Nevertheless, I apologize if my comments offended you. BTW - take a look at the institutional profiles of the two Indiana-Purdue schools. IUPUI, for instance, has twice as many students, a larger endowment, and a much more highly regarded graduate school than UND.
  9. Granted, a bid to the Summit was a foregone conclusion for UND had they not cancelled the site visit. Nevertheless, it wasn't really a decision between the Summit and the Big Sky. Without a home for football (i.e. the MVFC) the Summit wasn't a viable option for UND. With a MVFC bid in hand, UND would have, or at least should have, chosen Summit/MFVC in a heartbeat.
  10. Nothing can change that? In your small mind perhaps. But if you haven't noticed, the Summit League is not the same conference it was when the Bison joined. It is fast becoming a very good Mid-Major conference. It has become a much more geographically centered conference (in UND's traditional recruiting area), with a number of traditional rivalries, good and generally improving facilities pretty much across the board, a great venue for its men's and women's basketball tournaments, and a level of interest and excitement that is building every year. Things are looking great for the Summit League. I don't necessarily think having UND in the Summit would be good for NDSU, but there is little doubt that the addition of UND would be a win for both UND, and the Summit League as a whole.
  11. No, the context of the sentence you're critiquing is the NFL draft, and specifically the 2016 draft, since we're talking about Carson, who won't be available for the draft until 2016. In addition to omitting "senior-to-be", Rory also didn't say that Carson was the #8 "college" QB in the nation. Are you going to criticize Rory for stretching the truth because there are more than 7 NFL QBs who would rate above him?
  12. Apparently geaux_sioux doesn't understand context.
  13. They would have taken a Summit/MVFC bid in a heartbeat had the MVFC been offering a few years ago. In all honesty, the Summit League is blossoming into a very good basketball conference, and the MVFC is a great FCS football conference. For instance, the contrast between the NEC championship game that was on ESPN2 immediately before the Summit League championship last night was striking. Any viewer who watched both games would have had to have been impressed by what the saw in the later game.
  14. People said the same sort of things about Braun, Bjorklund, and Wright last year. NDSU loses one senior from this year's Summit League championship team. They'll likely be better next year, and, along with SDSU, among the favorites in the Summit.
  15. It's certainly true that NDSU got short-changed 100 years ago when the core of its historic campus was being built. Think of what it might look like now had Minard, Ceres, South Engineering, and other on-campus buildings been built in the style of Old Main, which, in my opinion, is a very striking building. Oh well, can't worry about the politics and esthetics of the past.
  16. Honestly, what is your point? Whether it's because of great coaching, underrated players, or just plain old luck. NDSU is in the big dance for the second year in a row, and will reap the publicity and recruiting benefits that come with it. Whining about it isn't going to help UND make up lost ground.
  17. But he wasn't stretching the truth.
  18. I'm not sure that Crockett has the physical ability to play in the NFL. But, if he can get himself into a regular position in an NFL lineup, I don't doubt that he can be an emotional leader in the locker room for whatever team that might play for. Crockett's an outgoing, high energy kind of guy. He fits the profile of a locker room leader well.
  19. It seemed pretty clear to me that he was talking about Carson's current positional ranking for the 2016 draft, which has been pretty consistently in the 8 to 10 range. That will certainly change before April 2016. But 8th -10th among all prospective seniors QBs in the country is a pretty darn good ballplayer no matter how you look at it.. Nice try though.
  20. I look at it this way: if a guy like Adrian Peterson, or maybe an NBA point guard, had started playing hockey when he was a little kid and had devoted the required amount of time and effort to becoming a hockey player, he would, IMO, very likely develop into a great, even revolutionary, hockey player. But, I don't think there's any chance that a guy like Wayne Gretzky could have ever been a great running back in the NFL, or a great NBA point guard, no matter how much time or effort he might put into it. Hockey players are very skilled, but hockey as a sport simply does not attract even close to the level of athletic talent that basketball or football does, at least not in this country.
  21. Boy that completely distorts what I said. Again, if the past is any guide, very few Bison fans will be selling their tickets and very few Bison fans will be paying inflated prices for tickets. That will leave very few tickets available for UND fans at any price.
  22. No, I don't think that many Bison fans will sell their tickets. They could have sold their tickets other games for a profit last year or the year before. and yet tickets have been almost impossible to get at any price. The only reason that might be different for this game is again the proximity of a large number of UND fans bidding the price higher.
  23. Neither. My expressing what I think is the truth is neither trolling, nor evidence of my interest in a football game. It is simply the truth.
  24. Oh really? I couldn't be interested in the two largest universities in my native state without wanting to see the two schools play a football game?
