  1. Also in the article, EWU peer programs are spending $10 and $14 million on athletic facilities and even lower division schools are making upgrades while EWU plans to penny pinch to a balanced budget. And what is the big push at UND....phase II. This is very disturbing. If your finances are not in order, everything else becomes moot. So Chaves will have to rely heavily on others to keep $$ in order, that is what I am seeing.
  2. So we hired a guy that over saw a near $6 million deficit in the EWU athletic department.........and his biggest 2 achievements $wise is less than $3 million combined. Ohh boy- I hope he leaves this part of his vast experience back in Cheney.
  3. Prepare for some culture shock, and not referring to the weather. (Offensive football will shock him more than the weather)
  4. How long have you known Chaves? Buds that go way back.......or just going off a resume and 1 interview? Right, thought so. Should I apologize cause I said some good things about a person I have know since '93? I don't think that makes things cloudy, actually makes things perfectly clear on who 1 person is while not having that luxury with the others. There is a known commodity verses some resumes and interviews and some awards that are really based on the coaching success at your school. I could see Chaves, Mannausau, or Porter in the position and I think it's a 3 man race. Their successes or failures will be known in the coming years. We just look at this differently based on our backgrounds. I don't need my judgment questioned by you - that's for sure.
  5. I am not understanding the man crush on Chaves. I listened to about half, seems good with a slight bit of heard it before.
  6. My info is ageism is a factor with Brekke.
  7. WMU or EWU guy and elevate Mike in the department. I think most could live with this. If not, it will be ugly.
  8. Makes the point, do we want Jonny Jumper or a guy that is 'ALL-IN'?

    2018 Season

Siouxphan27 never fails to get my points. In our respective divisions, it's not too far of a reach to expect a team to be competitive in spite of injuries and playing young players. Part of this is having a system in which young guys can hit the ground running. I doubt the Bama players are intellectually superior to our players. In fact, I bet we carry a higher GPA. I see a growing trend in college football that puts the best weapons in space or positions to make plays, and if that's a freshman then so be it. Since I am not allowed to compare to Bama or Georgia, I guess, then let's just compare to NDSU, SDSU, USD, and the Montanas.........is that allowable? How about in conference with Weber, Southern Utah, E. Washington. If these are the closest comparables then based on last year we are dead last. 2018 is just a huge and telling year for UND, no pressure.

    2018 Season

Sabin goes with a true freshman with no meaningful game experience in the 2nd half cause he felt he needed to "pass the ball better". Sabin needs a shopping cart to haul his balls around, holy crap!! This game had true freshman all over the place...... maybe some hope for our young guys in 2018. Can't help to wonder how these systems, all over college football, have their freshman ready to go.

    2018 Season

We shouldn't be too worried about our experience at QB, considering we are watching 2 true freshman QBs in the 3rd quarter of the FBS Natty.....I am behind on DVR.
  12. If you are referring to 8+ scholarships on offense in the Muss years, he was smart enough to land on his feet.
  13. With all the wealth you have I am sure Mike stops by your place often. I thought you'd have a lot more insight....?? No??
  14. Voted Captian of his college football team among his peers. He's a natural leader. I understand his resume is light on paper, but that's on paper. I am sure some others looked great on paper, and they weren't that great..... I am not too concerned about experience in this case as he hits the ground running a mile ahead of anyone else. I could also see Mike elevated, but in a #2 spot in this process. Anyway, you asked and I am telling you, leadership, along with personality, and the guy just plain gets it.
  15. Certainly could go this way. Dear Sioux Forum - I didn't mean to imply anyone as to "torpedo" and/or "sabotage" UND Athletics as a result of this. Chill for F-sake.
  16. For everyone making a big deal of my post. "Get Bent-" I was just pointing out what could be an awkward situation and one in which the new AD would have to rely on another finalist for success. No one sees the irony?
  17. I am pretty loose on my language, judging from my posts........ Chaves or Manaussa should be a plus for FB. Dilly dilly-
  18. Players of the game...... JMUs' pass receivers!! C'mon Man!!
  19. Your word, torpedo. I would say donors will have to start the dating process, figure out who the new guy is. You guys act like million dollar checks are written on a wimb. The reality is these funds are tied up in earning assets. Upon a liquidation event big funds are available.
  20. Could be right, still has to be awkward. Not for Cratter and UNDBIZ I guess.
  21. I can see it now. Kennedy to Chaves, "Get me phase II, now!!" Chaves, "who are the big donors?" Kennedy, "I know a few but Manaussa has all the relationships built up from the past 20 years, but most big $$ wanted better leadership at the AD position". Chaves to Manaussa, "go make me look good." Manaussa to Chaves, "get bent" 4-5 years later, Chaves takes a position out west Awkward, and back to square 1.
  22. If I did attend I would have stood and clapped. Nothing against Faison as a person. He meant well, did some good things, but just missing something for me. Met and spoke with him several times. Sat in the away suite at a FB game with him for a half. I have high expectations, he didn't quite meet them. He is at the end of his career, time to move ahead.
  23. You probably bought a Kirby Vacuum from the door to door salesman cause you took him at his word. Check back in a few years-
  24. Well not just the guy, but the perceived lack of giving a crap about ND. My guess is Faison will be harder to find than Keyser Soze after he walks away. And you might drop your coffee mug, too.
  25. Really?? The president, AD, or respective head coach doesn't aid in sealing the deal, huh? I would guess every big donor considers leadership at the top level when giving. If a donor doesn't believe in leadership, that's a problem.
