Maybe they better turn the heat up in the Ralph this week in prep for Fargo. Get some slushy ice, because from what I've seen, Scheel's isn't going to be any better and they'll be one and done next week if they play like this.

Maybe it was my overall love of Ben Blood, even with his hot headedness at times, but I've been extremely frustrated with J. Schmaltz since he came to UND. He plays soft, except when his brother got hurt, and gives up on plays way to often. We have to many solid players watching the game for someone to give half assed efforts as often as he seems to. It seems whenever I see a defenseman mistake lead to a goal, I see 24 in the vicinity. I'm not going to pretend I understand all the nuances of the game, I just feel he should be better than he seems to be.

In 20 years you can tell the grand kids you were at the NCHC conference tournament and they'll reply, "what's the NCHC???"
You can then tell them it was the conference that was dissolved because it was winning to many of the championships.

Probably not that many more. As a lot of people probably requested to get off work two hours early months ago.
Fyi. one game at the frozen four is on a Thursday during work hours. You might wanna try and get off early that day too.
I took the entire week off just in case. Was originally planning on making the trip if they made it, but don't think that's in the finances anymore.

Are they putting too much pressure on themselves...just like the dont touch the trophy squad.
I don't see it like that this year, mostly because two lines did all the scoring with one line being relied upon heavily. This team, top to bottom is more polished. It may be the first line that buries you, it may be the fourth line, and that brings quite a bit of confidence. Only thing I do worry about is if Zane has a hiccup in net, his play is the key.

Speaking of things for sale, does anyone have any signed 8x10's of guys in their Sioux stuff they'd be willing to part with? Trying to work on making a collection and have been using EBay, but they are few and far between. As of now I have Toews, Oshie, Frattin, Finley, Kristo, and Rowney.

I was furious with Midco's coverage following the game last week. I just don't see why you would cut to the other programming at that point.

So in 2009, 2012, and 2013, MN lost the 3rd place game too?
I don't believe there were third place games in the WCHA tournament.

I would appear that Arizona State is bound for the Big Ten Hockey Conference at the moment. But lets be honest, if it wasn't for their name recognition and student/alumni base we wouldn't even be considering them in the first place, they honestly don't bring anything to the table other than that. I was leery of the NCHC at first, but the last two seasons has made me a believer that this conference can not only be a magnet to top recruits but can also spawn some of the best, heated games and rivalries in the sport (I include the NHL in that statement). I like the idea of adding smaller schools who's athletic program and budget focuses primarily on hockey. These are the schools that will generate the best atmospheres, rivalries, and level of competition to attract the top end recruits. Let the big schools play corporate hockey, no one will be watching.
Agreed 100%. My wife was really upset when the conference split, but I was hopeful just because of the series I'd seen with Denver and with Omaha. I knew there would still be some heated games, not quite to gopher level yet, but I believe it will get there.

I couldn't agree more. What a terrible time to have the injury bug hit. If Nick is gone for any amount of time, that's the top two center icemen. Ouch.This series is a pairwise killer. Nothing good comes out of it...

So, Wisconsin, Michigan State, and (likely) Michigan - no way.
You put a lot of faith into the other crappy teams in that conference.

After watching them this year: Be not afraid.
It's still Minnesota, they have a way of breaking our hearts. I'm sure beating us in the tournament would be the equivalent of them winning a championship this year, for them anyway.

Game planning comes from the coaching, desire has to come from within. These boys are lacking some desire this weekend. Maybe they need to be shown .6 over and over again all week.
