  1. The way Omaha has cooled off and the way Harvard has heated up. I would be surprised to see Omaha do much. Doesn't mean they cant, but the need zombo and massa to play, and a lot of guys to get back to what they were doing. That being said, Harvard wins and Mankato wins the region.

Come on now, losing arguably your best player shouldn't effect the overall team success. At least it wouldn't make any difference for the Sioux, it'd still be Hak's fault because he can't win the big one.

  2. This is a great post... If you have anything bad to say about Hak, watch out, you are no longer a fan. For a while there only blind lemmings were allowed to be fans I guess.

You can say negative things about Hak, just have an argument of what can be done better, or who could do it better. Those of us you refer to as Hak supporters get tired of Fire Hak, or he's not getting it done, or he can't win the big one. Is it that much to ask that you put forward an argument for discussion over the generic terms that the Fire Hak crowd usually throws out?

  3. Agreed, more concerned with just the fact that we don't play as well heading East. I don't know if it is a travel thing, or what. That being said, I really see that region wide open. Goofs have been hitting their stride too, but that could just be a product of playing in the "Big Ten Intramural Conference". This is why this time of year is so great; it is a wide open field.

Agreed. Looking through the bracket, I have no idea who is going to win what game, which is also why I turn into the green version of Dr. Banner whenever I hear about the lack of "Natty's".

  4. So, I'm not looking past this weekend or just assuming we will be at the Frozen Four, this is just for fun ....

Aside from my bracket having UND getting out of our region, who would we play in Boston? UMD (Solid team)? Goofers (Been playing better lately)? Yale (Great Goalie)? Boston U (Regional Favorite)? I have Duluth beating Minnesota; though that was one of the hardest games to pick on my bracket. And I have BU beating Yale, though with a hot goalie there is always upset potential. Then I have have Boston U beating Duluth. Which led me to the question of how would UND match up against BU.

'05 4-0 UND Wins (Easter Regional - Worcester)

    '08 5-1 UND Loses (Icebreaker - Boston)

'12 4-2 UND Wins; 4-2 UND Loses (Grand Forks)

    '13 3-1 UND Loses; 3-3 Tie (Boston)

Ultimately, the thought of playing BU doesn't scare me, but the idea of playing BU in Boston, is a little more daunting. We won a tourney game against them in Worcester, though that was in '04 and our success in Boston has not been great since then (We also lost to Yale in Worcester - NE Region '10). That being said, every year is different; different players, different teams. I think UND has the depth to win their region and the tourney, but only if they play their game.

Can this be the year we finally get #8? Can we get out of Fargo and find success in Boston? Take care of business Friday! Go Sioux!

Outside the Eichel line, I don't find BU that intimidating, even in Boston. I believe we have the defensive players to give that line problems also. I'd honestly be more worried about Duluth coming out of that Region.

  5. Nobody is saying he will get fired. And nobody wants him to be fired. What I and others won't subscribe to is the notion that #nattysdontmatter.

You can't be serious? Nobody wants him fired? Nope, as long as they win every game. They lose one, and the fools are immediately calling for his head. He doesn't hang #8 this year, there will be plenty on this board and throughout the fan base calling for his removal.

  6. I know a UND fan who lives down by St. Cloud and called Monday to inquire about tickets (didn't pretend they were alum however did purchase st. cloud tickets this year to the UND game so their info was already in the system). They were told season ticket holders and corporate sponsors get first crack at tickets, but if anything is left on Tuesday they'll make them available to the general public. Being general public their name was taken down and they were told they'll get a call Tuesday if anything is left. Sure enough they got a call today. However, they told me St. Cloud had a requirement donation that was needed before they would let them buy tickets - which they were fine doing.

They said tickets have to be picked up by Thursday in St. Cloud otherwise they will be at Will Call in Fargo.

Sweet. I was thinking about calling Tech.

  7. I really do believe we have yet to see the final level Zane can go to at UND. Special, special player. Last year's regional final was the start of something special and this year continued that. This tournament will be his legacy.

I've known Zane since he was a kid, coaching him in little league baseball. He's just a great person and has always worked harder than everyone around him. He's loved the Sioux since the day he picked up a hockey stick. It's in his blood. Cheers, bud. If this really is your last go in the Green and White, it's surely been a pleasure. Put this team on your back and take them to the promise land, young man!

If this is his final year, I'd love to see him post four straight shut outs.

  8. so if hak and co win it all this year and he leaves for the riches of the nhl and faison offers the head job to brad berry he would say "no thanks?"

    yeah right

Wait, so your idea to fix the coaching is to replace Hakstol with his assistants, either new or old? Haha. Yeah, I'm just going to ignore you from now on.

  9. i just don't see "hanging #8" til we get a coach that has an ability to change, adapt, or grow as a coach

Who would be you're recommendation as a replacement? An honest to god option? I hate reading this type of stuff. Never missed the tournament. No losing seasons. Never less than twenty wins. Count me in the group that would much rather be in the hunt every year, than win one, and have a decade of mediocrity following.

  10. roll these lines and remember Hak you can change things on the fly, cut down to three lines if we have any passengers. The players need to remember that there are no ships to go back to.

Agreed. With all the TV timeouts, anyone not giving it 100% on every shift can have a seat. Stack the lines and move on.

  11. Well, what do the "everything is just fine" people have to say now? If you have no concerns about this team after getting outscored 8-2 in two games and looking bad in doing it, then you are simply drunk on green Kool-Aid and wearing green-colored glasses.

Can this team rebound next week? Yes.

Will they? That is far from certain after what I saw this weekend.

Normally I'm the eternal optimist when it comes to this team, but I even have to admit that I have serious reservations after today. I wasn't able to watch, just listen on the radio, but they made it sound like Pattyn looked furious when he came back to the bench towards the end of the game, and it was strictly at the rest of the team.

I have a bad feeling that we have important players on this team that seem to have cashed it in, I'm looking at you 24,9,15,27, and that can't happen next weekend.
