Although located on the campus of the "University of North Dakota the arena and land itself is owned by The Engelstad Family Foundation and rented conditionally to UND each year for $1. This setup was created to give the Engelstad family control and final say regarding the facility."
Weird, that took like thirty seconds of searching.

UND owns the land the REA is on along with everything in front of it from Gateway to 6th Ave except for where the fire station is. I believe they also still own the land where all the condos behind the REA are plus the Wellness Center.
Why, when I took my buddy from Chicago, on an REA tour last year did they say that the land the REA sits on was on a 99 year lease?

Players and coaches shouldn't read fan forums at all, period. There is nothing to be gained from doing that.
That's your response to hearing that the players are affected by what's said on this forum? Is that they should stay off? Man, that's crazy. I would love to interact with these guys and hear their thoughts on the game if they were up to it.

UND owns the land that the REA is built on. The building was built on that property to supply a home for UND hockey. It was a donation to UND and UND athletics (not to Fighting Sioux Incorporated). Basketball and volleyball were added later, still on UND property. UND hockey, as you said, is the primary tenant. Everything that REA does is meant to support UND hockey and UND athletics. There is a contract in place for UND to take over the building in the future (the state wanted to make sure the building could support itself and not become a burden on the state budget before accepting the title). So you are also correct that there is not time available for another hockey program. It is very simple, but a select few just aren't able to grasp the concept.
The land is leased, and not from the University. I can't remember who exactly, but UND itself owns nothing in the Ralph.

You mean BC
Yes, my bad. I swear I had BC in there.

Watching him play this tournament and reading a lot of stuff from NHL scouts, writers, I think we'd be naive to think Stecher can't go and play pro next year.
Not saying he couldn't, but teams have more at stake with drafted players and are going to give those picks a chance long before an undrafted prospect. I just don't know what the chances are of a team giving him a crack at the bigs quite yet, probably sign him to the A and "develop" him. If that were the case and it's me, I'd rather develop at UND than the A or E.

As with all stats, any opinions you derive from them are those of your own.
Outside of BU and UND, no one has been there more than twice. But parity probably doesn't exist.

Talk about cutting and pasting..
I think I've read your " gamblers fallacy" comments a few times in the past..
Check out @DStarmanHockey's Tweet: https://twitter.com/DStarmanHockey/status/587697872096907264?s=09
Crazy, but I'm sure Starman has no idea what he's talking about. (rolls eyes)

Why MN?
Because it'd serve us right.

Add Drake to that also, same position as Stech.
Hasn't Drake essentially said he's playing four for the Sioux in the past. O know that article out of Toronto said he quoted himself as a four year player.
-
Seniors: Drake, Jordan Schmaltz, St. Clair, Sanderson, Chyzyk, and Zane.
Juniors: Stecher, Thompson, LaDue, Murphy, Ausmus, Johnson, Hrynkiw.

General should have given him an extra firm handshake grip
I bet if they meet up in the A or ECHL, there are some fists that are thrown.

I decided to take a quick look at the draft status of each of the players on that list. Here it is:
Potulny - 3rd (round)
Ford - 8th
Erickson - 3rd
Carroll - undrafted
Schepke - undrafted
Cepis - undrafted
Gregoire - 3rd
Cichy - 7th
Taranto - undrafted
White - undrafted
Barnes - undrafted
Lee - 6th
Tarasov - undrafted
Roy - 4th
Cammarata - 3rd
Iacopelli - 3rd
So, is it safe to say the quality of those entering into college hockey has improved?
-
Surprised they didn't say "intent to blow the whistle".

Ouch, only four seconds between those two goals.

Yeah, can't remember NDSU losing players early to the professional ranks, nor recruits at the last minute or mid season to another competitive league. Dynasty's are more likely in divisions where that doesn't happen, that's why Alabama staying near the top is fairly impressive as well.
Imagine a line with Oshie and Toews as seniors, and still having the pony line. Still having Rocco this season, Brock Nelson on last year's team.
Actually, that's making me a little sad.

So you are going to pooh-pooh what the Bison did at the same exact level that UND is at for football? Oh, that's right, if it isn't hockey, it doesn't matter.
And quite frankly, you were the one making the flagship comparison, not me. You can't reverse course in the middle of the discussion by implying that I don't think the rest of the sports matter.

Not pooh poohing, their success. Just saying the comparisons aren't the same.

I am calling Red Herring and Straw Man on this post. At their respective levels of competition, NDSU football has established a dynasty and UND hockey has become a wanna-be.
What would the dynasty look like if the boys were playing DIII hockey? I only state that because the quality of players at the true pinnacle of college football is very different than those that play at UND and Bison level right now. I realize the Bison have come in and beat some FBS schools, bit they aren't exactly playing Alabama, Florida Ohio State, LSU, and USC.

I don't disagree. I just imagine myself in that situation. The play against him wasn't only dirty and uncalled for, it was dangerous. I guess in that situation, him not being able to address it because the coward took off right away, I may have yanked him out of the line for a discussion also.I'm sorry, I don't care about the circumstances - you just don't jump a guy in the handshake line.
About the eleven second mark. Absolutely dirty play, not that I would expect anything less from those rats.

As far as leadership, I think we'll be fine next season. Chyzyk, St. Clair, Drake and Stecher will provide plenty of leadership, include Zane in that if he returns. I saw a considerable change in Johnson once the tourney started, if he quits with the stick between the legs I think he takes a major jump next season. Little Schmaltz stays, and if one or two of the incoming freshman meets half the expectations, we'll have a very solid shot at being in Tampa in April.
-
Yes he would be...and the player would play anyways.
Cue the Ben Blood example. I should also let it be known, if it would have been me, I'd have done the same thing as Blood. That cheap shot at the end of the game was on the same level as the throat stab on Thursday.

He's older than the other three mentioned, so he's not at the same level as far as "pro prospects" go. I don't know a lot about his recruitment, as he is from Finland. But if you have the production he has in the USHL, you have options.
But he's not a guy you can just brush off altogether either. Unlike the other 3, this guy is probably 4 year guy. And we need those types of players too.
I think the four year aspect is greatly overlooked. It was one of the reasons I had so much hope for this team this year, and honestly, they played all season like I expected them to. I can't imagine what this season would have looked like if Rocco would have come back for one more.

Weird, that was not the way it came off at all on the tour.
