Yeah.....while not a very good game....at least it's close going into the 4th, wasn't expecting it to be. I would guess NDSU will pull it it out at home in the 4th....especially with some injuries on CSU's defense, which sounds like they aren't that deep. CSU would need a big play or two, they can't get anything up the middle on offense.

Yeah really ugly and boring game. Not even close to the opener with Montana and NDSU last year.....that was a fun game and a nice showcase for FCS. I guess we could say it's two really good defenses......we'll see.

Pretty boring game so far.

Thanks for thinking of us and taking the time to go to a UND site when you are about to play on ESPN. Good to know you are always thinking of us. But yeah....wrong site.

Cool.....thanks for the insight!

What type of speed does Cloyd have, anything comparable to JK?

I'm assuming these are the old jerseys from two years ago? I may try and order one by phone if that's an option, how are they as for sizing? I know the new jerseys are super tight, and even look pretty tight on the players without pads. The previous ones I don't think were as tight, but they also weren't like the old school ones that were kind of baggy either. I just wouldn't want it to be super tight even though I'm not a 'big' guy....6'0 190.

Yeah that was a really fun day! I was on a road trip with some friends and I remember following along on the game thread, and I can't remember who it was....but was giving great play by play details....man was I in a good mood that day. Such a feel good win in many ways........first FBS win, also it was a good road win as we hadn't been very good on the road the prior several years and this was the start of a turn around on that as we also beat Portland St. on the road too. Up until that win I was a bit skeptical on our road games. Also we got to beat Bohl and somewhat stick it to him for making Nevermann sit out an entire year, which as we all know worked out to our advantage since we discovered how good Santiago was at RB. Great win...and great day! Sorry for the rambling

That preview of the Wyoming game is freaking awesome.....looking back at how we controlled the game....and he thought they were going to blow us out. Yeah he's got his pulse right on things......not.

Are saying or agreeing it's going to be an upset if UND beats Stony Brook and Southern Utah this year?
-
It's going to be fun to see what kind of numbers Santiago puts up this year. However with other quality backs he may not get as many carries as some of the others. And last year there were one or two games where he had nearly 200 yards at halftime and then didn't see the field or ball much in the second half. I think he was 3rd in the FCS for all purpose yards right? If he would have played 4 quarters in all of those games that would of made a difference. It's also impressive considering our offense was complete crap for 6 quarters, two against Drake and then the NDSU game. I'm looking forward to lots of "So Long Santiago"!! That was a good phrase, but since Sweeney isn't doing the radio anymore.....do you think anybody else will pick up and use that phrase?

I had it UND 24-14 the other day on the thread, will change that slightly to 24-13 as I don't think we'll let them in the end zone twice.

Thanks for the report Teeder!

Oh ya that was the long pick 6 game. I don't think I was able to watch that game for whatever reason, could only listen. That is a good reminder of how stout they were on defense, although our offense those first few games of 2014 was fairly pathetic.

Nice, he did look pretty smooth on his tape. He definitely looks like he can be Keaton 2.0 in a couple of years.....glad we landed him!!
-
The score was 13-3 two years ago, I can't remember....is that one of the games where the defense scored? The defense scored a few times that year. If we scored 13 on them two years ago, I think we can get 24 this time as our offense is light years ahead of where it was two years ago, or we should be as long as the OL plays well. They will no doubt be a good test for our offense though and my 24-14 prediction is assuming we play a good 4 quarter game and I probably have a little tint in my glasses hoping things go our way that game. Since we have now proven we can win on the road, I think we will get it done. Certainly wouldn't be surprised though if it was only 17-10 score however.
-
Assuming the OL does gel and no major injuries I'm really looking forward to seeing what our offense can do this year too. I'm sure Rudolph has put in a few more wrinkles this year now that the guys have been in the system for a while and don't have to spend as much time on the basics. Santiago receiving the ball this year and getting him into space will be fun. Hopefully Keaton can improve a little on not staring down his primary receiver. I think Santiago or Clive will be good for at least one big play against Stony Brook, so my early prediction is 24-14 UND.

Woops...forgot to post a link to the article here too for easy access, meant to do that in my previous post: http://thefcswedge.com/conference-previews/2016-big-sky-preview-north-dakota/

Nodak78 posted this article in the other thread. In the article it says this: "Their schedule should set them up for seven wins, they will probably need an upset in their schedule, Stony Brook or Southern Utah, to get to eight wins to make sure they get a playoff spot." Is Stony Brook going to be favored in that game?

If our secondary can't stop a true walk on freshman QB to a true walk on freshman WR........god help us against Bowling Green Granted Reyes and some other starters may not have been in during some of those plays......but our secondary still seems to be a big concern. Thanks goodness we don't play Montana this year. Hopefully they can get it cleaned up some, as well as the snap. Odds are looking good that we will have a couple bad snaps in the first few games. Hopefully he is short arming them and not sailing them over the QB's head so that in addition to losing a down.....we don't also lose 15 yards. Thanks for the report though Teeder!

Thanks for the great reports as well. It's nice that our OL gets to go up against such a strong DL and strong defense overall. It sounds like we had some success running the ball I think right? That bodes well because if we can run some on our defense we should be able to run on almost anybody. In Bubba's interview he said he wasn't happy with the Defense in the goal line situations, which means the offense must have executed well at the goal line which is important obviously. We need TD's not field goals. I'd be more worried if he said the offense was inept at the goal line, because I know the defense will end up being solid. Sounds like a fair amount of penalties and mental mistakes, hopefully they should be able to get that cleaned up by the Stony Brook game. Coe sounds good.....but I'm a little fearful we'll be 5 games into the season and having multiple bad snaps losing yards and killing drives like two years ago. Hopefully he can nail down the snap before week one. It's hard to imagine that both Santiago and Oliviera better than last year. I mean it makes sense that they are because they were true freshman, but man it's crazy that they are better than last year.....they are going to be really fun to watch for another 3 years, plus we have Nevermann this year. Has to be our deepest quality backfield ever?
-
Yes this is starting to worry me more too as the season approaches, as well as the OL, particularly the depth. These are obvious things that have been a concert all off season, but definitely starting to worry more as we get closer. WR seems to be a nice surprise as that was a worry a couple months ago but it seems like we'll be ok there.
-
I totally agree (and I'm sure most all do), outdoor games are so much better....that is where football is meant to be played. However in our case I'm ok with it indoors given our weather situation, but still miss the outdoor games. Freezing cold was an advantage in the playoffs outside if you were playing a team from down south. But those late year games it's nice to just be inside and make more noise as your advantage.
-
It's nice to see it looks like we should be ok at WR this year and have some decent depth even with Seibel out. Awesome to hear that Toivonen looks so good! I also hope Wanzek can redshirt.
-
Yes especially in the playoffs.....I believe we were 10-0 in the playoffs helping us get to 2 National Championship games (winning 1). Plenty of false starts in those playoff games.
