  1. Looks like a few coverage sacks.....that's good to see by our secondary.
  2. Looks like a few nice new plays in the playbook. I'm sure now that guys know the system a bit more it gives Rudulph the option of installing a few more plays for specific situations. I think we'll see a few nice new wrinkles in the offense this year.
  3. Not sure if it is just my computer or not, but my feed is buffering a lot now.
  4. Wow I just checked the forecast for Grand Forks on weather.com and it shows 100% chance of rain on Saturday....that sucks! So much for that being a fun day for the fans to check out the team, that's too bad. If there was 50% chance of rain you could luck out and not get any, 100% chance....you are probably screwed. I wonder if they will consider moving it inside?
  5. Or as Momster posted.....who has a kid in the recruiting process and knows some other kids that are considering UND ..........said the kids were more interested in UND after the hockey teams run through the playoffs and championship, they liked the excitement surrounding it. The excitement does not directly pertain to football, but it can feed off of it.
  6. lol Yes and I stated that in my last message I said that it was actually tied 25-25 the last 50 times, which still helps back up my overall point. Perhaps I should have just stated UND is 10-5 the past fifteen games, 5-4 in the past ten, and 3-2 in the past five. Thank you for the initial correction though
  7. No you made valid points in your statement. I didn't come on this site until the beginning of Mussman's last season as i was really wondering about the direction of the football team and I had moved to AZ the year before and felt a little disconnected and wanted to try and get some information. Since coming on here I love hearing about all of the chat and updates on the football team. I have no desire to go on bville to hear what they are doing, I like hearing and following what UND is doing. Actually if we would have been winning championships at the time I moved down here I likely may have never ended up on here, it is when we were doing poorly that I wanted more info. I can't imagine if we had just won 5 titles.....the thought even crossing my mind about going on to the bville site. There are a few NDSU posters that have a few posts here and there that actually add to some conversations. But the need for some others to come on here daily after winning 5 titles and try and stir up stuff about how good they are and to put down UND, honestly it is just baffling.
  8. lol oh man I knew that would bring an NDSU troll out. I should have stated the last 50 times we played, my bad.....sorry I did not check the specific details as I was making a general point. So the past 50 times we've played the series is tied 25-25 actually, so we don't have a lead during that time period. But given NDSU is the best football team in the Universe that's not bad. Or I could have chosen to say the last 70 years when it was UND 32 - 28 or state more recent head to head and say the last 14 times UND - NDSU played UND is 10-4. Kansas has an all time record of 27-6-73 against OU. Thank you for your obsession with UND however and following blogs daily on Siouxsports that have nothing to do with NDSU.
  9. There is definitely something to be said for wanting to be part of a turn around, especially if you think it will actually happen. Every program on the bottom wants to turn it around but obviously not all do. We have made that turn around before and am very confident we will make it again and we already have a good start at it.....but have a ways to go. It's kind of like taking a job at a smaller company to be part of building something instead of taking the more glamorous job at GM. It can be appealing......I know it was appealing to me when I took my job.
  10. In general I agree and think it helps. It can be argued though why go play football at a hockey school. But I'm pretty sure when we were a deep playoff team every year in the late 90's and then won a championship in football I don't think that was too big of a deal and doubt kids were saying they didn't want to go to UND because it was a hockey school. We were a winner and we had been winning for several years. When your team and program are down, that is when kids aren't as excited about going there. We are digging out of that mess, still have some things to prove though. A while back when Florida was pretty dominant in football and they also won a basketball championship, I'm thinking kids would think it's pretty cool to go to a school that had two top programs. We definitely had a bad stumble there, but going forward I don't think the expectations of our football program will be any less or different than Montana State or Montana each and every year. It's not like we are Duke or maybe Kansas football programs, they've probably had some good years but are probably thought of as average or below average football programs if you look at the past 50 years. UND has a pretty good past 50 years in football overall, even though we've had a couple of rough patches. We actually have a better head to head record against NDSU, it's not like Kansas has a better overall record against Oklahoma the past 50 years. (And for you NDSU trolls I'm just stating a fact to prove a point in bringing up the head to head, no need to reply on here now telling us how much better you are than us)
  11. Oh I realize you need a lot more than finding a great player once every 4 years. Just commenting more on it's nice when you find a gem of a player that maybe wasn't that highly recruited. We got Grady and Santiago in the same class, if you can get two guys like that in every class and a bunch of other solid players you'll be in good shape.
  12. Same thing can maybe be said about Santiago.......if he was taller maybe he would have gotten some offers from some bigger schools etc.. We got a gem in Will and probably an even bigger gem in Santiago, glad we got them both!

    2016 Season

You all may have already read this in the Notes from Day 11 Spring practice....but it does sound like Oliveira wasn't at full strength entering camp. Which that does surprise me a little since it sounded like he may have been available if we ended up making the playoffs. Here is what Bubba said......... "Plus, Brady is coming back and getting healthier. It was really important for him to practice this spring. He was limited early, but he is now able to take some good quality reps."

Crazy how solid we will be at RB this year after it being such an uncertainty last year. Both Santiago and Oliveira should be even better this year with a year under them. Although Santiago could be better than last year but not end up with more yards, that will depend on the O line. Also having 2 other strong RB's may give him more of a rest.......although he barely played in the second half of some of the games last year when he had around 200 yards at halftime....crazy what he would have done if he played a full 4 quarters in all of the games. His rushing totals were also impressive given the egg that was laid by the offense in the second half verses Drake and against NDSU. I doubt he'll have 6 quarters like that again this year. Even though it's nice to spell him to give him some rest, it's always nice having him out there because he can take it to the house on any given play. Hopefully he is working on holding on to the ball so that won't come up and be a concern again this year.

How has Oliveira looked, does he look like he is back to 100%, has he been fully participating in practices?
  16. Another guy I know down here said there is going to be one at the other RT O'Sullivans off the 60 and Superstition Springs. I know NDSU has football watch parties at that one, so I was wondering if that might be the logical place to have them now. I don't see it on the UND list at this point yet though.
  17. Just saw this posted........maybe he has an outside shot at that 7th round with Tampa! http://www.tampabay.com/blogs/bucs/bucs-go-to-north-dakota-to-work-out-lb-turned-fb-will-ratelle/2271534
  18. I'm assuming most of us are thinking he will sign on with somebody after the draft as a free agent to try and make a team, but won't actually get drafted. Or do you think he will actually get drafted?
  19. I'm glad he seems to be getting a lot of looks, he deserves it. His Pro Day numbers were really good, and he obviously has the football instincts on the field which is even more important. Good luck Will!!

That is the best news I've heard in a while! Especially after the dissappointing news about the WR's. All other positions this coming year should be as good or better than last year, with the O line the one exception or question mark.
  21. Dang that stinks. There is a place in Gilbert that I go to quite a bit, the Copper Still, I could check with them if they were interested in having one. Their setup probably isn't quite as good as O'Sullivans though. There is another RT O'Sullivans in Mesa that I believe hosts Bison football watch parties, they could possibly be interested. Thanks for passing the information along that the Stapley one closed, if you hear of anything down here let me know. Have a great time in Tampa!

Looks like he has a decent arm too.....throw him a quick pass in the backfield and have him hit Georges over the top deep like in the one highlight. Having those two guys on the field would definitely help keep things opened up!

Wow nice.......if we could land him that would help me forget about the loss of Smith real quick!
  24. Is anybody planning on setting up a watch party at RT O'Sullivans in Mesa? They usually have one but I don't see it on the list.

I somewhat agree and somewhat disagree on this. Santiago was recruited as a WR and I think if he wasn't switched to RB he would have been good, Toivenen could also be pretty good, Georges was a nice get as well. Smith was going to be a WR and sure seemed to have a lot of potential, although I guess he didn't stick so it probably doesn't count. I do agree though that WR should be a focal point in recruiting next year, get at least one stud WR and a couple of solids. Need to land a really good QB next year too.
