  7. Yeah on that banding thing - I wore a camo hat & all knew I was a duck hunter I don't think any of the others were real pleased with me or all my questions & comments - But I carried a Alum. metal thing like a multi barreled gatlin gun looking thing about 3' long that had hundreds of bands (of all sizes) on it & I joked that if I took off now, I could make a small fortune on EBay
  8. If you have never been here - I highly recommend it - even if your not a bird watcher - One of the nicest places around here & you need to get out of your vehicle & see whats all there http://www.sullyshillbirdfest.com/ It always amazes how many people have been to the casino & it's not far from it - But have never been here See the registration section for the Lake Alice tour I went to a duck banding workshop here once & the trap had a already banded mallard (we gave it another) & a Black duck - they took us out to Lake Alice in a Bus, from the Devils Lake USFWS offices - early & there were only a dozen or so that signed up - most didn't want to band & sex the birds - so my daughter & I did most of them (little buggers can sure scratch with those claws on their feet) One year they gave rides on their air boat (Lake Alice was known as the everglades of the north - before the water came up) - cool deal for sure Some of you Young guys (& Old guys) Chicks (& Women) dig this place (& the casino)

  12. I can see the stun gun or tazer, but just a whiff of the Mace or Pepper spray would be enough We bought one of those No Bark shock collars for a dog we had once & we all tried it - it was the kind that got more intense up to 5 levels - No One Made It Past 3
  13. alot of police officers eat way too many donuts & have so much training, they are psyched out about using guns - & there are never any where/when you really need them I rather die in a gun fight than be slaughtered & watch others be slaughtered or abused Worried about hitting what your shooting at - get a lazer sight or I use a http://www.bushnell.com/general/riflescopes_holosight.cfm unlike red dot sights this technology uses a Hologram site that no matter where the dot is inside the scope,, if it's on the target, the target will be hit - they cost almost as much as the gun - But to me it's worth it
  14. How about Mace or Pepper Spray ? or Stun Guns ? or Tazer ? I would think every Female would carry mace/pepper spray around here after Dru

  23. Unarmed and vulnerable Note the Date on this article Thursday, August 31, 2006 Bradford B. Wiles Wiles, of New Castle, is a graduate student at Virginia Tech. On Aug. 21 at about 9:20 a.m., my graduate-level class was evacuated from the Squires Student Center. We were interrupted in class and not informed of anything other than the following words: "You need to get out of the building." Upon exiting the classroom, we were met at the doors leading outside by two armor-clad policemen with fully automatic weapons, plus their side arms. Once outside, there were several more officers with either fully automatic rifles and pump shotguns, and policemen running down the street, pistols drawn. It was at this time that I realized that I had no viable means of protecting myself. Please realize that I am licensed to carry a concealed handgun in the commonwealth of Virginia, and do so on a regular basis. However, because I am a Virginia Tech student, I am prohibited from carrying at school because of Virginia Tech's student policy, which makes possession of a handgun an expellable offense, but not a prosecutable crime. I had entrusted my safety, and the safety of others to the police. In light of this, there are a few things I wish to point out. First, I never want to have my safety fully in the hands of anyone else, including the police. Second, I considered bringing my gun with me to campus, but did not due to the obvious risk of losing my graduate career, which is ridiculous because had I been shot and killed, there would have been no graduate career for me anyway. Third, and most important, I am trained and able to carry a concealed handgun almost anywhere in Virginia and other states that have reciprocity with Virginia, but cannot carry where I spend more time than anywhere else because, somehow, I become a threat to others when I cross from the town of Blacksburg onto Virginia Tech's campus. Of all of the emotions and thoughts that were running through my head that morning, the most overwhelming one was of helplessness. That feeling of helplessness has been difficult to reconcile because I knew I would have been safer with a proper means to defend myself. I would also like to point out that when I mentioned to a professor that I would feel safer with my gun, this is what she said to me, "I would feel safer if you had your gun." The policy that forbids students who are legally licensed to carry in Virginia needs to be changed. I am qualified and capable of carrying a concealed handgun and urge you to work with me to allow my most basic right of self-defense, and eliminate my entrusting my safety and the safety of my classmates to the government. This incident makes it clear that it is time that Virginia Tech and the commonwealth of Virginia let me take responsibility for my safety. Unarmed and vulnerable - Roanoke.com
  24. Hey Now - it's my thread & I don't want it to get locked up Like I said before, The NRA has to be extreme, to counter the Brady's/ Ban Guns Lobby etc. Trouble is, I do think the moderation that comes from this, is not helping solve slaughters, like we had on Monday & those who hate guns & blame guns, are nieve to think you can ban them & that police or security can prevent crimes of this nature We are supposed to be able to protect ourselves & others, but then the BLEEDING Hearts ban us from doing that, in way to many places Having armed "Good People" & much better ways of keeping guns away from the hands of the Insane & mentally dangerous - to themselves & others, is the only workable compromise I see Hey Dave - I hate snakes too & everytime I'm out west of the Mo. River hunting & someone brings up Rattle Snakes. I spend the rest of the time out there, pointing my Gun at the ground around me, waiting & watching to defend myself - what do you think we should do about the Human Snakes, we have living in our society ?
