  1. The only other possible place for you to live for that long of a drive. You did not say what type of dog or how old the dog is. Is it your dog that has been staying with someone else and now gets to go home with his mommy?
  2. I was thinking the same thing. He had to have had other offers and you confirmed that. Well now he can transfer and sit out a year and play somewhere else. Question though for people with more knowledge than I. Would these last two years of not playing hurt him much? What confuses me, and what doesn't, is how can the second all time leading scorer at a good program not see any ice time with the rodents? Did Lucia just not like him or something?
  3. They should have gotten a hold of Goon. He would have showed them southern boys how to hunt.
  4. Why don't you call UND and as them for a complete financial rundown. It is a public record.
  5. My bad. You just thought they meet the requirements. They did with the exemption. They were counting the Memorial parking lot and all the others in the area. And when you get down to it all of those lots are a legit claim to having enough spaces required. Comparing the parking around this arena compared to others there really is enough parking.
  6. I would like a THREAD to complain in and not a TREAD. :whistling:
  7. No. UND and the REA do not provide enough parking without the exemption and the other businesses providing the parking. Remember they were allowed to use these businesses parking in their original count. You said though that UND was excempt from parking requirements when I brought it up to start with. I thought I remembered that the city gave them a variance and they had. I do agree with you though that it cost to much for too few users to keep the shuttles going. But since the agreement included bus service for the exemption it still could be argued that they would have to ask the city to be released from that aspect of the agreement. Without the release they would still be technically in violation of the agreement of exemption. I also agree that parking at the Ralph is a lot better than other places. I was at a concert in Chula Vista, Ca. and then in Irvine, Ca. in September (Dave Matthews Band) and you should have seen the mess getting out of those venues. OK it was nice out for walking and the have huge lots but what a mess.
  8. This is the response I received from the city of Grand Forks dealing with the original parking issue with the Ralph. "The City and The Ralph came to an agreement through the Detailed Development Plan process that parking would be evaluated a bit differently on the project. The parking requirement for an auditorium is one space per 4 seats. The seating capacity is around 11,400. Therefore the parking requirement is 2,850 for the site. The parking on the site, through shared parking with the bookstore, family practice and other commercial uses around the building, nearly exceeds this amount. In addition, the city required a traffic plan to be completed by a transportation consultant. The intent was to verify that the location of the parking and the affect on the traffic operation plan for the site. UND also identified alternative mode parking (bus pickup locations) on designated lots that provided additional parking for the facility." So when I said they were given an exemption they were and the city did have the power over the university. Notice the part over the bus picking people up. By stopping the bus service it could be construed that the university is now in violation of their agreement.
  9. Try finding a place to park anywhere in downtown Madison or around the campus. Students do not even bring cars to Madison because it is so hard to find parking. The neighborhoods around State St. all require neighborhood parking permits or you get tickets. After that it is parking meters they patrol heavily.
  10. And you did not even think twice about it. All your little friends were doing the same thing. Like the kids walking from 17th ave. s and 15th st. to Lewis and Clark everyday. At one time L&C's boundary's were from 18th ave s. and s. 9th st to 17th ave s. and 15th st to Demers to s. 10th st and back to Elks Park. And the kids walked from all corners to school everyday without a whine, even the kindergarteners.
  11. I think student fees cover a lot of the cost. Just like the amount of student fees goes to covering the losses of the athletic department. Which also means a lot of students pay a lot of money to them for things they never use. Whereas you guys are making a choice on how you spend your money. And what you get in return for your money.
  12. Wouldn't their title of regional have more to do with the fact they cover regional sports?
  13. Ironic but when I was kid everyone walked to school any many lived more than 5-6 blocks away. Didn't matter how cold it was. We also went outside at recess no matter how cold it was. Now your kid can not take a little cold? Or is it you that can not take a little cold?
  14. I know when we rented UND vans for departmental things we paid by the mile for usage. I remember filling out the paperwork when I would drop them off.
  15. Should not the onus of providing the bus service be on either the athletic department or the Ralph? If a department wants to use a UND van for something they have to pay rent and gas on it. So then would not the same thing be applied to either the Ralph or the athletic department instead of the parking office? Biggest issue that I have not seen reading through all the comments on this is the most important one. Why did the city of Grand Forks allow the Ralph to skip the required parking, that others are subject to, based on size of the building? You build an apartment building and you have to have x number of parking spots. You build a commercial building and have to have x number of spots. UND had the land to build the parking but chose the more profitable route of commercial development instead. For some reason I keep thinking that when it was being argued on where to build the Alerus it was said the Bronson property could not be used because there was a codicil that said it could not be used for commercial development. Does anyone else remember that? I think it was UND that said it.
  16. I am confused by your comment. I looked and Kreider has played quite a few games already in the NHL. What is the difference between loaning someone to the AHL and assigning them? You covered it a little but could you explain if further for me please.
  17. I am wondering if Notre Dame forced NBCSN to take hockey as a package deal to go with the football rights? This way they can get money for the hockey program from NBC instead of having to use their own finds. I find it hard to believe that ND hockey has as much attraction as ND football. If it did why did they drop the program? From reading siouxforever and yabay8's comments about the CBS contract I agree with them. CBS would have more to gain with more exposure than lose. Most fans would not watch another team on CBS. UND fans will watch a bad internet feed before watching another league game. So then so what if UND was on Fox? We would not be watching CBS anyone.
