  1. In my opinion, there are some very talented and knowledable high school, D-III and D-II coaches out there that are far better than some FCS or FBS coaches. Many coaches choose not to pursue other positions for various reason, mostly because they do not want to uproot their family every few years to move into a better or more prestigious position. Don't assume that a FBS coach is smarter than a D-II coach, just because of the level. (Tim Brewster is a great example of this)
  2. http://sayanythingblog.com/entry/almost-half-of-ndsu-and-und-sports-revenues-come-from-student-fees-and-taxpayers/
  3. Where did you hear that? Is it posted on a university website.
  4. Like I said, if our football budget can't handle purchasing helmets and jerseys, we are in serious trouble.
  5. They might not even make the playoffs next year after graduating 24 seniors.
  6. I don't have any problem with the green jerseys and would like to see them come back, but I think anything we do that creates interest among recruits, fans and players it money well spent.
  7. If our football program doesn't have the money to add 1 different helmet and 1 jersey/pants option from the current sets, they may as well close the program. Consistantly, the only 3 sports that make money are football, hockey and mens basketball. I have seen high school football programs do this, so if a D-I college football program can't afford it, we are in serious trouble.
  8. Trust me, you are in the minority or high school, college and NFL teams wouldn't be changing uniform/helmet combinations. Since when has a coach talked about uniforms and how they help you win.
  9. I am glad that you are in the minority on this, otherwise we would be wearing lame gray pants and helmets again.
  10. You obviously didn't look at all of their uniform combos. Why do people think UND needs to brand? Changing up uniforms shows recruits, fans and players that the program is progressive. Does UND have more tradition than Ohio St, Michigan or Notre Dame? No. Kids want to be apart of something fun and new, not some dusty old program 2 decades behind. Throwback jerseys would be cool on occasion, but do you think Minnesota brings a recruit in and shows him a jersey with his name on it or 3 jerseys. You guys can stay stuck in the glory days, I prefer to see UND look forward.
  11. Black is 90's? Apparently Oregon, Texas A&M, Maryland, Arkansas, Nebraska, Northwestern, South Carolina, Baylor, North Carolina, Oklahoma St. and countless other teams don't think so.
  12. Even if there were CBs looking to drop down, they have to contact you (per NCAA rules). It is a rules violation to recruit or contact a player that is currently on a roster.
  13. How much do you think it would cost to have 3 helmet combos?
  14. Those green jerseys have plenty of bad losses too. I believe you need to do things that get the fans, players and coaches excited. Having a few new uniform and helmet combinations and doing more to grow the student section would be a good start. We need to move forward and quit looking into the past. Throwback? No thanks, I would rather focus on the present and future.
  15. Then use Adidas if you don't like Nike, but at least step out of the 70's. Even the Ag school as different jersey/pants combos.
  16. Why are some of you so resistant to something new? I would be willing to bet if you polled the team, 90%+ would love having multiple uniform combinations. http://saturdaydownsouth.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/new-arkansas-football-uniforms.jpg http://cdn.nikeblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/New-Houston-Football-Uniforms-1.jpeg http://cdn3.sportngin.com/attachments/photo/1392/0919/fb-uniforms-1-1900_1__large.jpg http://helmetgame.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/oregon-state-beavers-new-nike-2013-football-helmets-uniforms-2.jpg
  17. Coaches know coaches all over the country. Typically a coach isn't sought after if he isn't considered to be good by his piers or others wouldn't recommend him. A good friend of mine coached college football for 15 years and knows nearly every coach across the midwest or could call someone that he knows on that staff to learn about him. Most coaches have coached on multiple staffs, so if you haven't coached with them, it doesn't take long to find someone you know that has coached with them.
  18. Boring! Black helmets, pants and jersey Green helmets, pants and jersey White helmets, pants and jersey Then you could have different combinations, like black helmet with white jersey/pants or green helmet with all black......ect
  19. Why would anyone be against new jerseys, helmets or names on jerseys?
  20. why can't you have 3 helmets? white with green arrow strip and ND, flat green with white and flat black with green. this would go great with a set of all white, green and black pants/jerseys. if you are going to start fresh, lets show some fresh looks.
  21. I don't think it would matter who we had gotten on staff, Irish would have found something to complain about. The fact is we have 3 North Dakota guys that have had successful coaching careers and are extremely familiar with recruiting the region is a big plus. Not every situation is ideal for a coach and not every great coach can succeed in every situation. Ask Bilichick how he did in Cleveland or Saben about Miami. Irish, do everyone a favor including yourself and give the new staff time to prove you right or wrong, but at least be supportive in the mean time.
  22. I think we should have the ability to go all green, all white and all black with green and black helmets. Then you would have some cool combinations.
  23. If we don't have enough money to have 3 different jerseys/pants and 2 helmets, something is seriously wrong.
  24. Why can't we be like Oregon and have multiple helmet, jersey and pants combinations? Just a thought.
  25. Why is it so important to you that UND cut ties with former players and coaches? Would you rather bring in a staff that is unfamiliar with UND, the midwest and has no relationships with HS coaches in the region? You can spew about "the good ole boys" all you want, I want coaches and players that take pride in the program, know the region, have had success in this area and are looking to build the program for the long term.
