DU is missing quantity. UND's missing quality. Still have to try to wear them down.
-
And a very Duluth way to win one. This is the team that had an NCAA regional game-winning OT goal by Mankato get blocked by the butt of a Mankato skater in the Duluth net.
-
A few years ago, a Mankato goalie dislodged his own net to stop play when a teammate was similarly incapacitated, taking a penalty. I wish the thought had occurred to Scheel, because it would have been the thing to do, especially with the game in hand.
-
So no Mismash, JBD maybe, and DU not bringing in reinforcements. Need to play with all kinds of pace to wear them down. Disappointing about Mismash. I don't love the idea of him getting into game shape in the NCAA tournament. And that's if he can be back at all. He was really rolling before the injury, hope he's able to be back and find that form.

A Denver or WMU title would probably kick Omaha out.
-
Seems like it should be waved off. edit: but it is close
-
I've spent the better part of the last decade and a half hating Denver, so why do I find myself now pulling for them? Is it just all the Omaha games I've seen recently?
-
Here we are late in the season and I think Kawaguchi might be the team's best forward again.
-
Yeah, Miami's hatin' life. Pressure, pressure, pressure, then one bad giveaway to the wrong guys. I'd have to see it again, but Adams' shot may have hit the post after the goalie.
-
Maybe Persson's numbers are so good partly because he hadn't faced the league's top offensive team.

The high water mark of the Haviland era?

Oh, ouch for cc.

This is unnerving. It could happen to anyone, then, poof, it's over.

Boatloads of individual awards this year. Congrats on the well deserved honors, but they count for exactly zero goals on the scoreboard in upcoming games.
-
There are a lot of moving pieces, with guys who may leave early or stay late (a new concept), but that seems possible if not ideal.
-
Looks like he perhaps had previously been planning to attend ASU. According to CHN's recruit list.
-
Guessing the league and teams are insisting on it, as a positive test in the next few weeks could end a team's season. I would hope the UND hockey program is taking no chances, even if the risk seems minimal.

When you win so much, it's easy to start to think you're entitled to that result just by showing up.
-
MSU hasn't scored a goal in 10 periods. Neither they nor WI look very good, although to be fair neither team in the REA did last night either.
-
I think if Wisconsin beats MSU tomorrow, they win the conference.
-
I get that, but if Wisconsin wins the Big 10, they may jump MN and give the committee the chance to put MN there. If Mankato fails to win the WCHA playoffs, they could slide to a two seed as well. If they both stay one seeds, then I think they put the higher finisher of Duluth or SC in that spot.
-
With the emphasis on limiting flights this year, they may not care as much about things like intraconference matchups. The conference playoffs may move some teams around, but I think Fargo may look like this: 1. UND 2. MN, Mankato, Duluth or SC 3. Duluth or SC 4. Bemidji

Somewhere between three and eight games left and then this strange, fun season is done. They're obviously just as good as anyone, but there's a handful of teams who feel the same, and another couple handfuls who want to pull a Yale. Because it's hockey, any of them could. I just rewatched the 1997 title game and the main thing that stood out to me was how much the defense position has changed. This current group has such good hands and feet, and I hope that's what ultimately separates them from the field.

So 1-8 and 2-7 are west/east, which is nice. It's a pity that, assuming Denver wins another and reaches fifth, 3-6 and 4-5 will be match-ups between teams that are sick of each other.
