Guessing the league and teams are insisting on it, as a positive test in the next few weeks could end a team's season. I would hope the UND hockey program is taking no chances, even if the risk seems minimal.

When you win so much, it's easy to start to think you're entitled to that result just by showing up.

MSU hasn't scored a goal in 10 periods. Neither they nor WI look very good, although to be fair neither team in the REA did last night either.

I think if Wisconsin beats MSU tomorrow, they win the conference.

I get that, but if Wisconsin wins the Big 10, they may jump MN and give the committee the chance to put MN there. If Mankato fails to win the WCHA playoffs, they could slide to a two seed as well. If they both stay one seeds, then I think they put the higher finisher of Duluth or SC in that spot.

With the emphasis on limiting flights this year, they may not care as much about things like intraconference matchups. The conference playoffs may move some teams around, but I think Fargo may look like this: 1. UND 2. MN, Mankato, Duluth or SC 3. Duluth or SC 4. Bemidji

Somewhere between three and eight games left and then this strange, fun season is done. They're obviously just as good as anyone, but there's a handful of teams who feel the same, and another couple handfuls who want to pull a Yale. Because it's hockey, any of them could. I just rewatched the 1997 title game and the main thing that stood out to me was how much the defense position has changed. This current group has such good hands and feet, and I hope that's what ultimately separates them from the field.

So 1-8 and 2-7 are west/east, which is nice. It's a pity that, assuming Denver wins another and reaches fifth, 3-6 and 4-5 will be match-ups between teams that are sick of each other.

They've been up and down, but we need to play Duluth. They've been hard to play against for a long time, and that's what we need to see before the NCAAs.

Crazy thing is if Omaha had won the last three games, they'd be leading the NCHC by three points. It was right there for them.

Gotta say the Omaha color guy is pretty good, not much of a homer at all.

The cool part of watching with the Omaha cameramen is you get to use your imagination a lot.

The lineup tonight is a bit of a preview of next year's forward group. I've been fairly worried about it, but they've played pretty well.

The junior line is generating a lot tonight. Also Jamernik has a chance to be a pretty good freshman next year. Everything you want in a bottom six energy center.

So Pinto, Guch and Mismash were apparently the problem on the PP.

I got to school right after Patrick left, but I think Sanderson might be the best I have seen since about 1984, which floors me because we're talking about an 18-year old. He erases opposing possessions so often and seemingly easily. That said, I hope he decides to stick around for one more year to smooth out those remaining edges.

The secret weapon for NCHC teams has been the incredible grind of the regular season. You won't see anything in the NCAA tournament better or tougher or tighter checking than you get multiple times each year. However, has the East/West split in the NCHC diluted UND's preparation this year? CC's not good, Denver seems good but doesn't win much, and we just don't know about Omaha. A tough game or two against SCSU or Duluth, or even a grinding WMU, in the NCHC playoffs, even if it doesn't go well, might be a helpful reminder for UND of what it's like to play a tight-checking game before the NCAA tournament.
