I do not agree. Oliveira is a powerful, physical back that plays more into UND's style (heavy personnel running game) than Santiago does; they need to keep the 50/50 split going.

I like the split, but I really like when they're on the field together with Santiago split out wide, or in motion.  Give the defense fits and gets him the ball in space.

What time does the Team show up?  I'm not big into tailgating, but would like to be in the parking lot to see the team arrive and walk to the arena.

2 hours before the game.  They walk straight through the tailgating area, or at least they did when it was warm, LOL!

We have a tent. All who are ready to get in Al and get loud are welcome at our tailgate

When you said something similar last week, my wife and I tried to stop by (I think it's fun meeting SS people IRL).  We made it out of the Champion's Club tent, but only by 1 spot before we ran into people we knew and didn't get any further.  We'll make a better effort this week!

People of GF, und fans, students, etc....get to the game....this team is worth the price and has more then warranted a loud raucous crowd.  Be there. Be loud. Be proud!   Bubba is building something special ...partake!

    Agreed!

I need to start some vocal exercises - I've lost most of my voice by the third quarter the last two home games ;)

  5. I guess I'm more scared than most about this game...  UND 31, Weber 28.  We all leave exhausted, but with giant smiles on our faces and in the driver's seat for a conference title :D

I'd like to see Sections 209 and 210 become General Admission. (end of both sides)  If you want a reserved seat/better seat, buy season tickets or pay ticket window price.  But if you want to bring your kids and their friends, load up the car and pay $5 a head for first come/first serve seating.

This could be a good short-term fix.  In the future, it would get some backlash when the place starts selling out every game (due to the legacy of continuous success), and the Al decides to sell those seats at higher prices or as season tickets ;)

Subban is getting the start, which is a good. It means I can cheer for the Wild to completely shell the Bruins. Subban can get pulled, and McIntyre can play a really solid 3rd period. :)

I'll wear my Wild sweater until Zane gets in, then switch to my Bruins.  Zane can pitch a shutout, since Subban will have given up 4 :)

  8. Ready for this game to start NOW!

So hyped that the wife and I have agreed to skip the Fargo Force game tonight to make sure there aren't any, ah *glitches*, with getting to GF for tailgating tomorrow morning ;)

Planning to be loud as always, just hope my voice comes back before Tuesday this time!

  9. What they said ^^^^

I live in Fargo, and the Scheels here is pretty sad if you want anything other than that pisz yellow color.  Don't even ask for something from one of the other local colleges or a local high school.

Best looking FH stuff I've seen so far was at the bookstore.  I didn't buy any of it, but it was still the best looking ;)

I wore a hawks shirt to the last game, but honestly, there hasn't been a strong unison cheer since the throws of Let's Go Sioux against the goofs in 2011 (at home, I'm not counting Scheel's arena). It's noticeable to me. When the whole arena had that going, it had some force and pop to it. Legitimately intimidating stuff. We haven't had that since some people stopped chanting Let's Go Sioux.

Maybe we'll have to steal the Vikings new chant to regain some of that, haha.

Largely agree with the bold, but I'll throw out one exception; 5 on 3 PK against St Cloud (McMillian broke his knee cap).  The last minute, or so, of that PK was the loudest I've heard the Ralph in a loooong time!  The chant of choice? LET'S GO SIOUX!

  11. Seriously, while I take no offense to the whole thing, this commenter seems to be trying to write stuff for the SJW agenda (bolding is mine)...  What a dumbazz.  SMDH.

What is your problem? Is this very first time you have ever been to any college game? This is college, these types of things are to be expected. I believe you need to stop being one of those individuals that gets offended by everything. We don’t need one of these safe spaces for football. By the way, you are writting for a paper that should be backing NDSU. These chants are something that we just do. I recommend that you chill out, stop being offended by nothing at all, chant Sioux suck s*** at the next game, and get drunk. Now the next article I read from you better start supporting our team or you can find a new State and a new paper to write for.

One reason it jumps up quicker now could be didn't they start accepting cards and they never did before? as it's all digital now unlike the old paper tickets...

I think the digital is a huge piece - you can walk by and see the running total on the sales booths.  Just like the lottery, more people play when the potential payout is larger.

Yeah, considering people had written Cam Johnson off after his first outing against Lake Superior State a couple years ago, then his start to last season where Berry had to tell him that's enough, I think we can cut Tomek some slack. Most people remember Cam's first game, the one where the Hakstol haters railed on him for starting Cam.

Exactly!  A young kid in his first game of the year is not going to be perfect.

On the flip side, it was a good dose of reality for those in the season thread who predict Tomek taking the net and Cam being on the bench for the season.  Make no mistake, starting the season, that's Cam's net. Tomek may end up being great, but it'll take better play than Saturday for him to take over.  I like this idea that we are spoiled to the point of having a backup who is so good, that many think he's going to steal time from a guy who set a shutout record last year :D

Not sure if I'm going to be able to make it up to Grand Forks or not this weekend. Does anyone know which bars in Fargo would show the UND football game? Or would most of them have it?

Hit Blarney Stone or Spitfire in West Fargo.  I know for a fact both have Midco.  Blarney will have sound (though probably Bison sound) and is much bigger, but Spitfire is owned by a Sioux Alum (he'll be at the game in GF, but still) and the GM played hockey for Duluth.  Lots of Bison at both, but you can usually get a TV turned for you.  Better beer at Blarney, better food at Spitfire

A couple new places on Veterans' that I don't know what you'll get for viewing, would be BLVD and Brickhouse Tavern.  Brickhouse has good pizzas (I've eaten at the location in Moorhead).

With the banner raising the same night for hockey? You'd be missing a lot of fans.

This is true.  We have season tickets for football and so will be in GF all day/evening Saturday.  If the games conflicted, we'd be driving up later and our football tickets would go unused.  Not because we'd want to skip football, but because it's been a long time since I was excited to see the banner hit the rafters.  If the hockey game was a normal exhibition that conflicted, we'd be at the football game.  But it's not.

I'm just glad we get to do both! :D

    One more thought:

I wore my new Fighting Hawks hat for the entire game again this week. I'm 2-0 in that thing. ;)

My wife bought a Fighting Hawks jersey-type shirt at the Al (you can buy stuff at the Al this season!  Progress!) during the Potato Bowl, wore it for the second half of that game and wore it all day Saturday.  I doubt you'll see her at a game without it the rest of the year! :D
