Haha you pull the one kid who went back....you should have brought up Nelson as well.  Nice.

TJ averaged a pt per game his frosh year I believe.  I would like to know how many NHL first round draft prospects that play prep end up have those kind of college numbers the very next year.  I honestly can only think of Oshie....like over 10 years ago.

I'm guessing Middlestadt will do it next year.  But these boys are the outliers, not the norm.  Who was the last Sioux player that went from prep right to college?

Has anyone done it since Dillon Simpson?

Crawford is in the Wild players head. Wild were by far the better team today. Outshot the Hawks 44-22 with numerous grade A chances.

Crawford stopped so many "that should've gone in!" chances today.  He looked like he's in cup form, vs. the usual regular season level of play.

  3. Friday night I had a few mugs of Boulder Brewing's Irish Blessings, an oak aged coffee stout, while watching the hockey game on TV.  It tasted amazing - didn't take on the near the whiskey tinge of some other barrel aged beers, and had a nice blend of chocolate and coffee flavors.  Only downfall, was that it was so good, that I had too many!

Yes. Got mine Friday at the Ralph Will Call. In Sec. 110...........same section as my tickets at the Ralph.

Picking mine up this Saturday - did you need to print out your receipt, or anything special?  Or just show up with your id?

    Thanks for any info!

Flatland in West Fargo has some really good German style beers as well as an interesting smoked jalapeño stout.

Flatland has good stuff from time to time. Unfortunately (for me), they decided that the IPA they're going to keep "always on" is the fruity one.  I was crushed last time I was in there!  If I'm having an IPA, I like something with a good nose and some bitterness.  IPA's that get real fruity (think Deschutes' Fresh Squeezed) just don't appeal to me, and that's the direction they went.  My favorite IPA brewed in Fargo right now is Kilstone's Adulteress.

Side note; we totally need a beer thread so we can get out of the GF Economy thread!

I don't have that view for most craft beer.  I do view Rhombus's attempt at "craft" beer that way though.  They tried to play it safe.

And Bud Light, along with other light beers, is a refreshing drink to be consumed while golfing.

Fair enough!  I actually had a few Rhombus Invincible IPA at football games this year.  Not bad, but not special.  At their brewery, I did enjoy their porter on nitro.

Fargo the town not the brewery. Fargo brewing is the safe one in Fargo.  Flatland Drekker and Junkyard all blow them out of the water in both quality and variety.

This is so, so, true.  With Junkyard's expansion, I can only hope that they'll keep a few beers "always on", though, as they rotate so much that some days you walk in and can't come up with one you want - esp if you don't like sours (I don't).  Drekker is probably consistently Fargo's best beer, but Junkyard is definitely the most fun brewery!

I bought sro last time they were in fargo and i was on the glass behind the goalie. I bought them the first time tickets were on sale to the public

Will these be the same kind of tickets. Last time there were no students in my section so it was probably easier to get on the glass since more students arrive super early than adults

The south end of the arena has now been converted to seats.  The north end, where these SRO are, is next to the Zamboni door.  I believe that's where the students were last time around?

I've heard the brewers will actually make their new beer taste like microbrewery beer rather than watered down, tasteless, please the masses "craft" beer.

LOL - if you view craft beer as "tasteless" and being made to "please the masses", WTH do you say about Bud Light?? :D

Yeah. I think they sold tickets at the Box Office at Scheels last time and starting selling them about 15 minutes early so that by the time the on-line people got on they were all gone. Looks like on-line only this time.

Those were the regular seats that were released to the public ^^^.  IDK what this special SRO release is about.

  10. I think a big part of the hang up is the league wanting to make sure there are a) no injuries and b) no dilution.

Injuries; Tavares missed the rest of the season after being injured in the last Olympics.  A big name like that is a big deal to the NHL - imagine if it were Crosby or Kane.  Some sports contracts have been known to include language prohibiting "dangerous activities" like motorcycles or skydiving.  I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't limits to unsanctioned hockey activity during the season for some of these guys.

On the dilution point; it was mentioned above 1 - 3 players per team being gone, but it's not that simple.  Look at a top team, and how many players will really be gone.  Now think about trying to get fans to pay to watch that team without those players play against some other team without their top guys.  The mediocre (at the time) MN Wild had 5 guys play in 2014. How about a game of Chicago without Toews, Kane, and whoever vs. the Caps without Oshie, Ovechkin, and whoever else?  Yeah, not worth that $120/seat now, is it?

I'm not arguing they shouldn't play, but the league definitely has a vested interest in whether or not they do.

  11. Duluth has too many former Force players who would be coming back to their pervious home rink, somewhat cancelling out the semi-home ice advantage for the Sioux.  Denver only has 1.  Bring on Denver! ;)

And, yes, I'll be careful what I wish for....

How about Target Center buy a better insulation layer for between the ice surface and the court and not have the issue.

I know these guys in Fargo make a good product (and I'm pretty sure it's what's used in REA).

They have it.  We sold it to them before last year's NCHC.  They actually have the same floor as the two arenas I mentioned above.

Also of note; Scheels arena pulled this off for 2 years of NDSU basketball with only the light duty version (thinner, uncoated) of what TC has.  It was all about the outside air and the arena manager not making adjustments for it.

  13. The arena manager didn't adjust for the humidity, as everything was good during shoot around.  Then, they opened the doors for the fans....

Madison Square Garden and The Staples Center use the same flooring setup as TC has (as do all but 1 of the NHL arenas), with no issues.  They've figured out to compensate for what's going on outside, since they host a lot more basketball and have the ice in for 9 months, instead of just 3.  The arena management learned a valuable lesson yesterday.

Will Borgen video. One game suspension wouldn't be enough.

It's hard to compare this to Vermette poking the ref in the calf, but that got him 10 games in the NHL.  This is at least face-to-face, but if the NCAA wants to take a serious "don't touch the refs" stance, it's going to have to be more than just 1 game.

Gonna say it, but I think it;d be real interesting if the top4 stayed put and UND dropped down to a 4 seed. If that's the case, Harvard would likely be coming out to Fargo which I think would be hilarious/.

Yeah, can you picture the Boston Ivy types landing at Hector?  As spread out as Fargo is, with such light traffic, it'd probably confuse the heck out of some of them! :D

  16. We finally find out what's going in the King Leo's building, and it's just another quick-serve pizza chain.  I've never had Blaze pizza, but it's still just pizza.

    http://www.inforum.com/business/4227886-pizza-chain-open-soon-former-fargo-king-leos-restaurant

They're right that it should be a good location with the mall traffic, but it's also only a few blocks from Uncle Maddio's, which is basically the same concept (corner of 15th and 42nd for Blaze, vs 17th and 45th for Maddios).

  17. The days Allegiant flies out of Fargo and GF are why I've never taken it.  Saving $150 a ticket doesn't help much if you have to stay 2 extra days at your destination, since they only fly to and from some places once a week (2 nights of additional hotel + meals + entertainment, and you've quickly erased your flight savings, not to mention used 2 more days of vacation).

I think you're correct. It was later turned into a Space Aliens. I think the West Fargo Boston's might be across the street from Blarney Stone next to the Element hotel.  I noticed construction there that is looking similar to the one that was in Grand Forks.

That's supposed to be True Blue Social Club, or some variation of spelling on that.  Owned by the people who own Lucky's 13.

Not sure where Boston's will go, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's on Veterans' and viewable from Scheel's Arena.

Boston's is usually like a classier Wild Wings, but more focused on pizza than wings.

  19. Who would've thought White would be the one scoring on the first night?

Good job by the Wild to answer each LA goal, and that OT was a beauty, but this team isn't built to give up 4 goals.  I hope they get back in the flow quickly!
