  1. It amazes me how fundamentally weak this team is - telegraphed, weak passes; lots of other turnovers; not coming up with loose balls or boxing out, etc.

We really need to recruit a good point guard who can control the tempo of the game, keep her cool, not turn the ball over, etc. Williams didn't score tonight (0-4 from the floor, 0-3 from the line), 6 turnovers with 1 assist and 3 fouls. That won't get it done!

Thought Josie Dillon would be that point guard. Maybe in the future, but not yet.

Almost like them to pull the redshirt on Katie Klapprodt and see what happens.

  2. SUU 60

    UND 54

    Final

3 pt FG shooting was 20%

    FT shooting was 53%

    Turnover and steals were horrible.

SUU had a nine pt run that killed UND.

With Wall in there, rebounds and inside scoring and defense could have made a difference.

  3. For an engineering major, NIU isn't exactly the place to go, especially in the petroleum field. NIU would be kind of like going to Mankato State for engineering. Going to take a lot of class time for to change from business to engineering. NDSU doesn't help him either, as their geology program is almost like a glorified geography program (not that there is anything wrong with that). At UND geology and geography are in entirely different schools, with a B.S. in geology a hard core science major that is affiliated with petroleum engineering.

He seems to be making real choices about his future career path: good for him.

  4. Maybe he blames the fatigue on altitude and the players will get used to it. That's what he should have said. It is hard to go from around 900ft to over 5000 feet, but if that's the case tell Fullerton to give UND the same deal as Cal Poly and UC Davis and lets leave the football team in the BSC and move the rest to Douple Country.

A team just has to be highly conditioned and with a deep roster when going to elevation. San Diego St, Fresno St, and UNLV don't seem to have problems at elevation in the MWC. Meanwhile, Sac St and Portland St have had significant problems over the years, but that says more about their commitment to basketball and basketball facilities.

  5. Well one player was suspended. I do find this thread a bit odd, both schools have had student athletes screw up in the past and both will have student athletes that will screw up in the future. Not sure why both sides continue to lob stones at each other while sitting in their glass houses.

One school punishes before a court verdict, and another says it will but does not.

It is about the ethics of the administrators, namely Gene Taylor has none. Can that concept get through your thick skull?

  6. There is no moral equivalence between Frattin and the bison football players. Anyone stating such nonsense is a moron.

Frattin: kicked off team, lost scholarship, publicly apologized, courts found him guilty, publicly repented and then given second chance in another semester

Bison players: none of the above except courts finding them guilty, AD declared they were being vilified for "nothing", no suspensions, nothing of consequence.

The world is filled with morons ethically and intellectually if one can not distinquish between UND's and NDSU's behavior in these cases.

“I really liked it,” Disterhaupt said of UND. “I thought ‘Why am I waiting to talk to other colleges when I like this place most?’ Ever since the first day of seventh-grade practices, I wanted to play football. This is the real deal. It’s the right place.”

Disterhaupt, a 6-foot-1, 192-pound superstar, helped guide the Rebels to three Class AA Prep Bowl runners-up in 2009, 2011 and 2012, totaling 4,608 rushing yards – second-most in Rebels program history – along with 80 touchdowns and an amazing 11.6 yards per carry.

Wednesday, Disterhaupt was named the Duluth News Tribune All-Area Player of the Year for a second straight time, after rushing for 1,614 yards and 30 touchdowns in leading ML-WR to a 13-1 overall record this past fall.

“I loved everything about it,” Disterhaupt said about his official visit to the Grand Forks campus. “The people seem nice and I really liked the coaching staff and the team. I haven’t found anything that I haven’t liked about the college except for the wind.”

North Dakota had offered Disterhaupt a scholarship last spring, but he held out to see who else was interested. The Minnesota Gophers continued to talk to Disterhaupt throughout the process, but ultimately wanted him to walk-on to the team. He also engaged in dialogue with fellow Division I schools Iowa State, North Dakota State, South Dakota State and Northern Iowa.

“I talked to other colleges, but one day it came to me that ‘Why am I talking to other colleges when clearly I like this place the most?’ ” he said about North Dakota. “They liked me as a person. They said, ‘We don’t just recruit athletes, we recruit good people.’ I thought that was the best compliment I could have.”

  8. Even though NDSU generally had a superior team than SUU, the Bison always struggled in Cedar City. I don't know what it is about that trip. Kind of glad they are out of the Summit for that reason alone. Good luck to UND.

Depth is really a key at elevation, especially with it so dry there. So with Huff and Brekke out, this trip will be tough.

Cedar City has a higher elevation than Denver (5820 ft for Cedar City vs 5280 for Denver).

Flagstaff is at 6920 ft, the highest in the Big Sky.

All the others are under a mile, with Grand Forks beating out Sac St and Portland St. :p

    Bozeman 4940

    Greeley 4680

    Pocatello 4560

    Ogden 4300

    Missoula 3200 ft

    Cheney 2450

  9. http://heraldnews.suntimes.com/sports/goss/16988256-419/palandech-the-ultimate-competitor-at-plainfield-north.html

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound (Kurt) Palandech is the Tigers’ All-Area quarterback/defensive back. Quarterback is his No. 1 position, and the way he operates is not unlike what Jordan Lynch does for Northern Illinois or what Chandler Harnish did before him. Palandech will beat you with his legs or his arm, he is smart and he’s a leader.

In basketball, he is not a big scorer, so the headlines are for someone else. But he brings heart and toughness to the court night after night. In baseball, he is the shortstop and a top-of-the-lineup hitter,

Palandech, who has played varsity basketball and baseball since his sophomore year, plans to visit Ivy League schools Yale and Cornell. He said Southeast Missouri State and Georgetown are in the mix for his services and Southern Illinois and North Dakota are among others expressing interest.

“I want to play quarterback,” he said. “I made that choice. Some schools wanted me as a defensive back. Of course, I love playing defense, too. But I feel quarterback is my position. I’m looking for a speed-type offense that wants me to be a dual threat.”

  10. If they were to take DU...I wonder if FU would fast track that SHAC because without that, playing in that garage (BSA) is not at all attractive. Even UNO could pass FU into the MVC since they have a new arena.

Wouldn't that be something if Omaha got in the MVC, which is possible if Creighton joined up with the new Catholic conference? Omaha would be the best fit.

Guess NDSU officials can take a hard line against a team, as long as it's a team that doesn't matter.

The Forum reports that the sanctions come after the team violated team rules and athletic department policies at a team party and at a separate altercation on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.

The university says the sanctions include game suspensions ranging from three to 10 games.

Ray Boyer is the director of the university's police and safety office. He says an investigation involving one or more softball players has been completed and sent to the Cass County State's Attorney's Office.

  12. I just looked at that lacrosse thread. While lacrosse probably makes a lot more sense for UND than baseball, this whole conference movement thing can really mess things up.

With the Big Ten adding Maryland and Rutgers, that means Michigan and Ohio State might be forced into a Big Ten lacrosse league if another Big Ten school starts lacrosse. (Penn State in in the A10 for lacrosse so it just needs one more team.)

Denver used to have these teams in its league:

Notre Dame, Ohio St, Michigan, Loyola (defending champion), Air Force, Hobart, Bellarmine, Fairfield

With the changes to the Big Ten and ACC, Denver could really be screwed every which way, as their league could be down to these teams and lose its autobid:

    Denver

    Air Force

    Hobart

    Bellarmine

    Fairfield

Maybe if a PAC10 team or two joined, then it would make a lot more sense.
