NORTH DAKOTA @ St. Cloud State - FRIDAY Gameday ********

He's got a banged up wrist....since before the goph series. -
Dell is getting starts.....as a back up. Either way great for him. Dell is an interesting case. He was pretty much forced out with Zane and Saunders coming in. After starting for two years he wasn't promised anything for his senior year. He panicked, left, and didn't even get an ahl deal. Didn't he start in the (now defunct) central league prior to playing in E. Which makes his rise all the more interesting.

In regards to Olson, the big ice doesn't work with his skill set. Looks like berry has been ready our posts regarding switching the lines up -

I believe R. Potulny got something back in the day (best youth hockey player I've ever seen....to this day).

In some cases or Und wasn't overly interested in him. What's he done?

University of North Dakota Hockey 2016 - 2017 Season

http://www.collegehockeynews.com/news/2016/11/16_inside_north_dakotas_recent.php Pretty good article, I like a lot of the statistical analysis. -
I like simo too. 55 in 55 his one year in the ushl. His skating holds him back but clearly having an off year.
-
Wasn't Murphy only here for two years? These guy's were/are sophomores. College hockey is tough....some guys figure it out later. I thought Murphy leaving was a terrible decision on his part. He panicked. I would take Murphy and his 4 pts this year and put him on our 3rd line. I mean simo has 0 through 11 games.
-
Looks like it takes him awhile to get acclimated. The jump from year 1 to year 2 in the ushl was dramatic.
-
Thats why id be curious to see him with gersich and Jost. Both those two go so hard, play D, and create space.
-
Look around at some other teams, there's freshmen D on other teams too. A top 4 that includes T Poolman, Ausmus, Wolanin, and Shaw is pretty dang solid if you ask me. Letting freshman play as a 5-6 dman is a best case scenario. Imagine if (when) we lose T poolman, Ausmus, and Wolanin. That's thin considering Bast has played a handful of games over the past year and a half and Evers seems to be just a middle of the road college prospect at this point.
-
I see....i do like those lines. I'd worry a bit about that third (unless Wilkie starts playing up to his potential).
-
I know....if he doesn't produce with Gersich and Jost I'm at a loss. What I was thinking was that playing with these two would open him up.
-
however everyone would be on their off hands all or nothing huh
-
would be interesting to see Boeser on the left side. Wilkie is definitely not a C. I would put Yon over Bowen as well. Boeser - Gardner - Pogo Gersich - Jost - Wilkie JJ - Hoff - Olson Yon - Simo - Smith (bowen could fit in on the third or 4th)
-
Curious if Bo Hanson (Muskegan) is on Berry's radar. I believe he's an overage however he's putting up nice points in the USHL right now. Our D is going to be pretty thin next year....i would think Berry would be after this guy.

NORTH DAKOTA vs. Denver - SATURDAY Gameday ********
scpa0305 replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
They lost a lot but they still have a lot. Denver and MN lost a ton of players too. This team needs to find its identity and figure out how to win. I think there needs to be some line shuffling this week. -
Big road sweep this weekend will turn the boys around.
-
Olson is a smarter player if you watch him pass. Doesn't skate well though. Bowen skates well but isnt the brightest player if you really watch him. I wouldnt necessarily call Bowen an offensive player, other than single A high school hockey, he has never been a point getter. Prior to college, Olson has put up nice numbers everywhere he's been. So far I've liked Yon's game.
-
Love it. Brock just needs two guys that go hard because from what I see, once Brock gets the puck he's reluctant to give it back to anyone else. Another option would be... Cole Smith - Rhett Gard - Brock B. - These guys would be a terror in front of the net when everyone's focused on BB. Gersich - Jost - Pogo - super tough line to play against JJ - Hoff - Chris Wilkie - once Wilkie starts playing better this line should pack punch. Yon - Simo - T Olson (Bowen could work his way in here too).
-
I'm slightly worried about next year...but trying not to think about it too much. Stay in the present these boys are going to turn things around. I do wish berry would split up jost and boeser and even strength one game. Get more of a balanced attack.

I'm feeling a sweep...but ive been feeling that way for the past three weeks
