Ok I started this topic....I was joking. Clearly in high school sports you cant cross state lines. i just like what was done with bantams, creating one team and playing a MN AA schedule. It would be cool to see high school age kids get to do that.
-
An all GF team would be better than Moorhead. I just looked at similar opponents and the grand forks teams had similar scoring margins and that's looking at GFC and RR separately.
-
I grew up in GF so I am very well aware of A hockey (and respect it more than most). However, there is a very large gap between AA and A MN hockey.....from a depth perspective. I only brought it up because it would be interesting to see what an all GF team would do in a AA MN schedule. I think they would be pretty dang good.
-
I get that...i just cant figure out what it's supposed to mean.
-
Yeah, no one in the cities really respects the A conference much. I say combine them and play AA. EP, Edina, Wayzata all have one team. Those schools are much larger than RR and central combined.
-
Boy....these GF teams need a MN schedule. Combine the teams (like bantams) and play a MN AA schedule.

You guys are too funny. What does your comment even mean Ox.

No the initial point was that SCSU has won something recently. Which they have. The 1 seed thing was very much a side tangent.
-
Are the games being streamed?
-
That's right. I came away so distrought from that one that I thought it was first round. Either way, the point is that 1 seeds have lost to 4th seeds quite a bit.
-
Berry always has a great idea of who is leaving. I'm guessing the Schmaltz departure threw him for a bit of a loop as he was pretty much coming back....until the CHI trade happened.
-
Has that ever happened to us? They've won the NCHC a couple of time now.
-
I am purely looking at what SCSU lost after last year (from an impact standpoint) to what we lost. I would argue that the players they lost (as it impacts their current team) should have had a greater impact as compared to what we lost. Simply due to the players that remained (and came in I guess). Also, SCSU has been good the past two years....I'm pretty sure they have "won" something.
-
True. Recruiting gaps, early departures, etc. I just think this team has under performed tremendously to this point. There is still a ton of talent on this team.
-
Right....and their starting goalie. (Benik, Kaile Kossila, etc)
-
We need to stop using that excuse....we're 30 games in. Remember, we currently sit behind SCSU in the standings. Did they lose anyone?
-
I agree. Unless you can play instantly, why would a guy go? Barring a shortage of money, I would personally stay in college until I turned 21. You would be closer to a degree while also continuing to develop in a great league. The big question is will he be able to play the a large % of the year right away.
-
I agree with the first part...regarding the second, I hope you end up being right. He has some buddies coming in next year too. That may keep him around.
-
Try to think about this as unbiasedly as possible

You can only play hockey for so long. Many folks seem to forget than he would get to burn a year off his ELC as well. So he'll get his $925K next year (plus bonsus) while also burning the first year of his ELC. He'll be closer to big bucks. NCAA hockey (game to game) is much tougher than the CHL. Maybe that's why. I am not saying he's leaving, im just stating the obvious factors on why he would leave after one year.
-
He'll get a max ELC. That's why he would go....to start his NHL career. Due to how terrible CO is, he'll have as long as a leash as Schmaltz had to start the year. From a development standpoint should he go? No. But neither is Boeser and he'll go too. Hopefully Boeser get's to play in the A for a year to work on his game more while getting used to the grinding schedule.
-
Nice catch on the second. As for Limoges, I saw he was committed to Cornell....are you sure he still is? His USHL page now has uncommitted by it. Judging by the fact he was (or is I guess) committed to an eastern school I'm guessing he would stay in that area.

Alex Limoges (Waterloo USHL) Nicolas Werbik (Youngstown USHL) Jonny Evans (Powell River BCHL) Lewis Crosby (Edina) Jett Jungels (Edina)

Kawaguchi is a lock to come in next year.
