Smith is going to be a 4th liner. That third line needs production. Maybe hain, Weatherby or Bowen.

Yup that’s a fact. To be honest I would have said the same thing with AA hockey, that was never really the point. The other guy took it sideways.i should have said put up decent Hs number and stopped heavy numbers in juniors.
-
Yes I do realize that you can find college stars at the single A level and guess what, in many cases they are drafted high and dominate juniors. In oshie case he was shredding nationally before he ever played a high school game. He was a lock....went in the first round as a late birth year. My point was that Bowen and Yon (to an extent as his junior goal numbers were not bad) only dominated at the single A high school level, did not flourish whatsoever at the junior level (more so Bowen here), and neither were drafted in any of the 7 nhl draft rounds. Given UND program, tradition, and success...I doubt these boys were recruited to play heavy top 6 minutes (again...moreso Bowen here). That is what I meant by my post...didn’t think I had to explain it in detail. It was not a bash on single A Hockey.

I was so close to writing “yes I know Oshie came from a small school” in parentheses behind that comment, as I know this forum so well by now. But got lazy. What round did oshie go in? Respectfully, read the whole post. #keyboardwarrior

Single A hockey. Both projected and did go undrafted, both did not produce great in juniors...especially Bowen.
-
...and was a very good college defensemen. His situation is a bit different though, he’s crack most rosters. LA is loaded at D. He was also old when he left UND.
-
...come on man....you just made that up
-
His point totals were never great but his goals per game was actually decent. He still has time to get to a top nine role in college.
-
Haha

Good post. There’s more than 5x5 hockey. I get building a team to play in the postseason is important (when refs swallow their whistles)...but you have to get there first.
-
No not really. In order of volume/talents it’s ushl, BCHL, NA/AJ, ohjhl, mj, sj. With ushl being far and away the best, but some high enders come from the BCHL.
-
But he doesn’t produce. He’s a good hustle guy and good penalty killer...he’s just not a PP guy. Shot isn’t great and his vision isn’t good. Plays with grit though. How many pp points did he have this year?
-
Adams has muscle...he’s not getting too much bigger. He should have played through his struggles. Berry far too quick to pull the plug on some guys. He’s too quick to pull the plug on Johnson at D too. There has been some games where I thought Johnson looked very solid...and he was only a freshmen/sophomore. This thinking that guys have to be 100% developed immediately is ridiculous.
-
Agreed. Those saying next year is done don’t know much about Hockey or the program, however those that think they’ll easily bounce back also may need some educating. Their recruiting class next year is not supposed to be as good as this years class (Tychonik should be nice though). Barring the unknown departures, next years team could have trouble scoring again. We’ll also have a younger goalie. The most important aspect this team needs heading into next year is development. They need some guys to take off. Guys like pogo, Olson, and Shaw should never have been on the PP. This time should have been given to the younger skilled guys.
-
What?
-
Those look good. That would be a solid squad. Not overall skilled but would be really tough to play against. Need some of the guys to continue to develop.
-
He’s done pretty well for himself
-
Junior league playoffs just getting going, they hit he trail.
-
Schmaltz only signed late because tarveinen was traded by the hawks. Schmaltz was 100% coming back until that trade went down.
-
Haha where have you been?
-
It was only to fight. Finley was a terrible professional hockey player. To shift a bit, we need that culture Denver has. I saw videos of when terry got back from the Olympics and you could tell they were all very tight. I mean, they all came back after a natty year, that NEVER happens. They’re recruiting has been great under Monty as well.
-
Not sure, wolanin is the only player that should leave but you’re right there are always guys who think they’re better than they are and guys who get mad at playing time. Hopefully we don’t run into that. FYI sometimes it’s both a combo of playing time and getting scholarship dollars cut.
-
I guess we’ll have to see.
-
Going forward we’re going to start seeing more and more auto bids. You have 1-2 (maybe) ranked teams in most conferences that spells trouble. The days of getting in being in the top 15 are over. If you’re not 13 you’re not getting in.

Agreed talking about skaters. He was a possession game changer. When he has the puck it looks like he’s playing against a lessor competition.
