I was watching the draft, I was almost positive we were going to hear Tychonicks name second to last or last in the first. With all those dmen going I was shocked he wasn’t picked. I’m guessing they’ll be a string of Fs going early in the second. Congrats to JBD though!
What is story with Wilde not going yet? Kid was a lotto pick 3 months ago. Both him and Blake McLaughlin both have CHL rumors, both were not invited (shockingly) to USAs summer u20 eval camp, and both just slipped out of the first. Although many scouts did have McLaughlin slipping out of the first.
Right. Now while I doubt hockey players could compete with football players (collectively) in these types of assessments, the gap will be wider now as the hockey players are much younger at the time of assessment.
Donavon has serious size though...and skates well. It will depend how he does before and after the HS season. Could be picked in the top 3 rounds next year if he does well in the ushl.
I am a big stats guy. Always have been and I get fascinated with how players stats trend from one league to another (as they age). I have followed senden relatively closely and I can tell you there’s most likely a good reason why the coaches wanted him to go back another year. The ushl is a very tough league however senden can clearly use another year to continue to develop more on the offensive side of the puck. Some players never do (they hit a ceiling) however he has one year of eligibility left and he should definitely use it. College will get no easier.
Exactly blue chips, second rounders, third rounders whatever. Just get them to commit in piles
im fine with the league leaders in ushl and bc (they’ll go late)...just get skilled kids. Top 5-10 in the ushl....where are they going?
It’s always been that way. I’ve been following college hockey for well over 20 years. You are correct 6-8...there’s 6-8 blue chips a year. Feel free to call them whatever you want if it makes you feel better.
Haha...blue chips have always been first rounders....that’s just the way it is. I never created the term. And to spin this around, certain posters can’t loosen the blue chip term simply to say we have some. Haha. Doesn’t mean second to third rounders aren’t absolutely phenomenal to have. I would love a team full of 2-3 round guys. I mean, I am satisfied to get a nice crop of drafted players.
