Hopefully it's not brining in a recruit who isn't necessarily ready. -

It has nothing to do with the kneeling…smh Pinto and Weatherby are two completely different types of players/prospects -

TBH I feel the same way in these situations. Had they known he was leaving (which is a giant head scratcher) they could have brought in another grad transfer to fill the hole. -

We’ll see. NHL is a lot tougher than college puck. You leave early when you’re dominating…especially overagers -

This is where I lean. He's not that old....he will not be a high end NHL player this year. He had the chance to take on a very large role with this team and run with it. If this was his "dream employer", he could have easily signed in April and burned the first year of his contract. To be clear, I understand college hockey is simply is stepping stone for almost all players...but in this players case, there was more development to be had. You sign when you start dominating. Sure, he had a great end to last year but stretch it out for a bit to the team that gave you the chance. This one doesn't sit well with me...especially for someone who was voted in as an assistant captain. -

This late? Terrible move by Weatherby -
That's what I'm thinking

Obviously stats aren't the most important thing....but he's kind of a kid where stats matter. I looked up the numbers out in the Philly WYC tourney and he had 2 points in 9 games. As a comparison....William Whitelaw had 27 in 9 games. He was the second lowest point getter on that team. Kind of a head scratcher

Shaugabay to UMD....interesting.
-
Andrew Strathmann commits, need to look him up. I’m unfamiliar with him. update - looks to be a solid D prospect
-
Interesting. USHL is a much tougher league.
-
Not an early departure I suppose but Scott Morrow appears to be doing very well (statistically) in the World Junior Summer Showcase. It's early but he seems to be hitting that stat sheet nicely. From my viewings of him...always thought he was super high end. update- after the first three games of the showcase morrow is tied for second in points

Agreed....both teams will be very good. -
I've seen him play....really good. Has gopher written all over him....notre dame too I suppose.

Well I guess Berry's boy could now (potentially) qualify as a recruit. I guess he's having a decent showing out at Select 16s.

Oh sorry....forgot how all these regions are split out. I've been in MN for awhile so I've only thought about it as "northern players" Panzer was invited...but wasn't at the camp. Maybe injured or something. -

Down year? What birth year is that? I believe ausmus and panzer were invited. -
No committed Sioux recruits on this year's Ivan Hlinka squad...they made some preliminary cuts heading into there final tryout game.

That's right....he'd be in our top 4 pretty quick. Has to work on his D zone presence but the kid is off the charts skilled. One of the reasons he's ranked in the 30s-40s are the red flags. The kid is a first round talent. Again there were a couple red flags that I've heard of...plus what he did to Fargo this year was fairly interesting. Fargo ended up working out and they made the playoffs regardless. -
If Power goes back to Mich next year they will be off the charts juiced. I’m aware of the obvious responses this comment will get....but still, fun time to be a college hockey fan. They could have 2-3 kids picked in the top 5 of this draft. Boy times have changed with these high end kids going the college route.

Kind of confused here as well...there are a ton of good junior programs. If I were Johnson's advisor (which I am not obviously) I would push him for a year in the USHL. The NA isn't terrible anymore but it's no where near the depth of the USHL. Also, it's not like goalies are going anywhere....there's such a logjam moving up that it's better to take your time a bit. Lastly, he's probably looking at 3rd string. Practice is great and I'm definitely a development type guy....but if you have the opportunity to get both development while also playing at a high level? No brainer to me. -
This one confuses me.

Pretty sure we were after him.
