MSU is the vulnerable team out of the top 3. That game is next. We can actually win that one since they don't have their qb and didn't look so hot vs a d2 team.
We agree again. Again call it impatient, but I really wish it wasn't, "we can win because their qb is down."
Regardless of that impatience and my obvious expressed frustration, I think it's important to state that most likely I am making the drive from Williston and will cheer them on. Granted, I could easily get disgruntled again, but it should be more competitive than last week. That is mainly what I am asking for. I understand its unreasonable to run the table on SDSU, the Griz, Bobcats, and EWU at this point in time, but competitiveness would be appreciated.
My whole frustration stems from a sincere belief that a great coach doesn't get his tail whipped with his own guys. His horse is always at least in the race.

To call it half of a Great West title is a slap in the face of the players that busted their asses and never have up for that title. That 2011 team deserves respect, they won alot of games ugly.
They do deserve respect I was there at every game ans streamed away games. Even stayed at the USD.
On that note though, can you think of any coaching decision that might have helped then win that outright? Ill give you a hint, it was a quarter late and against cal poly.

My old coach used to say - "You are never as good as your best game and you are never as bad as your worst." You have a highs/lows during a season. Let the season build and see what you have at the end.
We aren't as good as half a great west title and not as bad as one of the three butt kickings we've taken from the class of the big sky?

Fine, you can look at the transitional period. I am choosing to look at this season. It is off to a bad start, I was expecting a slow start giving an inexperienced QB and a defense that is going to take a another year or two to fix - unless you go with a heavy JUCO/drop down approached. Based on the recruiting last year and this summer and the lack of significant drop downs or JUCOs. It is clear the coaches are going to rebuild the defense with 4 year players. That is going to take time. So, I was not optimistic about a major change on the defensive side of the ball. Overall, I felt like this was going to be a .500 team and they might be able to win one of the four major home games.
Notice what the Griz did to rebuild the offense - two major drop downs - one a Florida commit who ended up at Marshall and was Conference USA Freshman of the Year who is now at Montana, a stud receiver from Washington and they reinstated a QB. Quick question how do you go from a Florida recruit to Montana in a couple of years - the guy has got some baggage. It does not mean he isn't a good guy, but he is a risk. Do we want UND to take those types of risks? Or do we want to take a patience long term approach and build from within. Again, it is clear - UND is rebuilding from within and I support that approach and it is going to take a couple of years to do that... I am fine with that..
I count the transition. It happened. People paid to see it. You can blame Lennons recruits if you want and say he left the cupboard bare for Muss, but if my memory serves correct those recruits at least hung in there with montana (and in montana). They did it with a physical brand too.
I would be more willing to wait if there was anything done in the last few years to inspire hope. Our signature win is half a great west title which the opposing team thought was so bad they canned the coach in a matter of hours
I would be more patient like you if there was anything in the last 5 years to inspire. Instead every chance we have to make a statement its not even competitive. Most of this forum's expectations for the coming weeks is "hope the scores aren't too bad."
I agree the recruits he has coming in look good but I was also lead to believe Joey Bradley was going to make me forget about Danny Freund.

I still say, wait until the season is over and then review. You need to look at the full body of work. None of us know the full story - plus sometimes you have games that are just bad. You go back to work and make sure it does not happen again. I will review at the end of the season.
No you don't just have games that bad unless you are bad. For reference, the last time craig bohl lost by more than 15 points ( 2 scores) was 2005. How many times have we got just killed in the last two years? How much more of a sample size do you need to see a full body of work?

I missed one game in my college career. Since I've moved, I frequently drive from Williston for games. I've preached more positivity about this program in the last 6 years than anyone I know, and a person has had to stretch to make that argument in that time frame. After Saturday and the blowouts from last year, I'm just over Chris Mussman coached football teams. I just can't imagine getting excited for them right now. I keep going to games waiting for that signature, but just end up feeling like Charlie Brown after an attempted field goal. The absolutely only way I can see myself wanting him around next year is for him to win out, but I'm not even sure he should get to finish the season. Without something like that to bring me back in, it just kinda seems like a waste of a gas tank.

Faison has to open up the pocket book for our next coaching staff. I don't care how much paying football coaches makes Hakstol cry but it's time the university starts getting serious about the football program. I'd like our next coach to be someone with Division I level
coaching experience. I don't want to waste time while a Division II staff tries to figure out what kind of athletes they need to play at this level. We did that already and have failed miserably.
I hate saying this but we should make a push to hire either Vigen or the D-Coordinator at NDSU. I hate everything about that program but they know how to win and would at least have a clue about how to build a program here.
I get that but what about mussman makes you wanna open up thebpocket book

Griz fans won't be the only ones coming in from the west. Just headed to make the 5 hour trek from Williston for this game. Too excited to stay away for it!

Damned straight Ira. And if we get a playoff spot, we run into NDSWho and end their present glory days. Cold. Hard. Truth.
This team can do it. And will. Gotta get back on my morphine drip. And no boys and girls, it is not making me delusional. We'll tee 'em all up and we will knock 'em all down. NDSU included.
I'll buy you a morphine drip and any other liquid you want if this holds true

Per a Tom Miller tweet, Goodman is injured. Also, no quarterback starter has been named yet.
My goodness, he was the only linebacker that held his own to me.

I really thought ND was going to come back and beat SDSU in OT. Lots of lessons learned. I said it before and I'll say it again.
This team runs the table, and takes out the Bison in an early round of the FCS playoffs.
Dear God, do I hope you're Nostradamus. In the meantime, where do I get a glass of that Kool-aid?

Not surprised by that quote.
Hardin NEEDS to be targeted 15x/game minimum.
agree 10x...
Our other receivers are good, but I don't think it's a coincidence that our dead stretch involved not targeting Hardin a few series in a row.

The spark in the defense was started when the offense got some momentum going again. We had lost it and the qb change sparked
The entire team. We'll find out next week if one guy has the "it" factor that motivates an entire team. That could be the biggest difference between the two.
Very well could have been. Good point. Throwing against a relaxed defense probably helps, but I've always thought there always seems to be a spark when you switch qb's no matter the team or how good the qb.

I agree with you there. I've clearly stated I don't think he's the answer, but you can't fire him now. The earliest is with only a couple games left. Then you let Kotelnicki give it a trial run and open up the job up.
For the record, I really like Kotelnicki. His special teams were Beamer-ballesque. Just unreal how you could almost count on a blocked kick a game the Dan Hendrickson/Goska year. That isn't an accident. Even though he is defensive coordinator, the defense isn't his fault right now, IMO. I don't think he gets full ownership of that only a spring and 3 games in.
