  1. http://www.nashvillepredators.com/pressbox...sp?item_id=5453 Nashville re-signs Greg Johnson.
  2. thanks for letting it be known, I guess it was just an illusion the last couple of years when we have had to wait 45 mins to leave the parking lot. That is embarassing, because there were only around 10,000 people there. I've been to Nascar events where there is 100,000 people in attendance, and they do not have great traffic routes in and out, but know how to move vehicles. I think the Alerus Center and GF PD need to do a better job of that.
  3. Very very soon. I watched a little bit they did on their news a couple weeks to go and they said within the next couple of weeks they would be making the switch.
  4. huh?? it expands from 25 to 40 in August, doesn't it?
  5. I have no problem with there being 40 players on the team either, its just that is a lot of players on the baseball team.
  6. I lost so much respect for McGwire when he looked like such a jacka#$ earlier this year.
  7. Sounds good to me. I am glad to see a new theater coming to Grand Forks. At the very least, it will be nice to see Carmike 10 do some much needed improvements to their existing screens.
  8. Stop the presses......I agree with you MafiaMan. They probably should have focused more on his exclusion from the Hall of Fame, that is an argument that actually might make some waves. Publicity is publicity
  9. IowaBison took some shots at Grand Forks and people took exception to it. I'm not sure why he should get a pass, while others should cut him some "slack".
  10. His backhanded comments towards Grand Forks have gotten a little old for me MafiaMan. I think he can fight his own fights.
  11. The flood devastated this town. People (including myself) lost homes, tons of money, memories, etc. It obviously was a terrible event and has taken years and will take more years to recover from. However, with the flood came some improvements to this city. I'm sorry to disagree with you, but downtown was a dump before the flood. It was full of old buildings and was not very attractive. It has taken on a whole new look and is very nice to place to walk around during the summer, especially with the farmer's market on saturdays.
  12. I'm not sure why a person's point of view, who disagrees with you, is "ridiculous." It is not like Doc Holliday is the only person who supports this rule change.
  13. So you are telling me players are going to start aiming for their teammates skates, thus drastically changing how the game is played?
  14. I have never said that quote was indicative of Hockey Canada. I think there are two arguments going on here. 1) Hockey Canada is biased against hockey players that play for US colleges and universities 2) that major junior leagues are pressuring their draft picks and certain players by telling them they will not be on any national teams. Those are two separate arguments. Canucks facts show a couple players almost every year representing US colleges, therefore pretty much disproving the fact that Hockey Canada is excluding those types of players. On the other hand, i'm sure there are some MJ teams who might try and "pressure" their draft picks and potential players by telling them they might not be picked for any Canadian national teams. Is this a common practice? I doubt it. Does it happen? Just like Canuck said before, I'm sure they might throw it around, to maybe gain a little leverage, just like any coach would when recruiting a player. In the end, the CHL and Hockey Canada are two different entities.
  15. I'm really not sure what media you are listening/reading/watching/hearing, but I would say that the media is far from sticking up for Roenick and what he said. As a hockey fan, I was not impressed with Roenick saying we could kiss his a##, but I watched/read the whole press conference and was almost blown away by what he said during the whole thing. He said that the players had really blown it and they were going to get a worse deal than they would have earlier in the year, he also said that the owners needed to make money and he definitely seen their point in the lockout. He was very pro-fan during the whole press conference, except for the clip that got put out everywhere. I'm not sure you could find one person in America who agreed with Roenick telling the fans to kiss off, but I find it funny how someone is honest and gets ripped for speaking his mind.
  16. Re-read my post Canuck, I never compared the two, it was an analogy and I'm not quite aware of where the personal shot was there, but I'm sure you will fill us in. I also do not see why you would take a shot at members of this board who are not die-hard world junior fans and only have followed the tournament for the last couple of years, because I'm sure a lot of these same people probably agree with you and your points. Are posters supposed to post their credentials before posting?
  17. So were the Toews family and those close to the situation making it up when they said they were feeling pressure from Hockey Canada to go the MJ route?
  18. CRR, you should know better than to criticize Hockey Canada. It is like talking to a bunch of republicans and dissing President Bush, they don't like hearing anything critical of their man or in this case, their organization.
