Our current 2 deep doesn't exactly pass it
-
If you're talking the RFR OL Mortel has put on 40lbs already. The older guys seem to have decent size, all around or over 300. I don't know if their lack of push in technique or strength. Toivonen, Mercer, and Stanley are all pretty big WRs. Wanzek put on 20 lbs and still looks skinny as hell. He'll probably put on another 30 before he's done here. Izzy, tr fr.
-
That had alot more to do with the defense leading the nation in takeaways than it did our offense. Our offense cost us the playoff game.
-
Alot of our OLBs are small because they are converted safeties. The true fr are all pretty skinny, can't blame them on that. Our DE's that aren't seniors or Cieslak are too thin. I think our body types at LB make our team look really small. We were alot bigger at that position a year ago and before the injuries. Rodger-240 Larson-230 Hunt-220 are LB body types. Rastas-190? Is still young but might not be a LB body type. Disterhaupt, Palmborg, and Turner are all safety body types. Lawrence is smallish for a LB. Baukol doesn't recruit or assign positions to guys, that's something to keep in mind. I also question the dedication to nutrition and training of some players just based on their lack of physical progression.
-
I can think of examples from all sorts of body types and positions who had great results in Baukol's program. Like I said earlier, I don't agree with him 100% on everything though. SC is kind of like politics, everyone has their own personal views.

There were quite a few posts on bisonville. I know a few years back they had to re-evaluate the way they trained their female athletes because they had a string of ACLs. What's difficult with our team is that the injuries are all different. Reyes gets hit on his elbow from a teammate. That's not a sc issue. Rodgers gets his leg caught and twisted. Not a sc issue. Harris blows an achilles, could be a sc issue but tough to know. Larson's knee injury. He was a true fr so it's probably not a sc issue. If we had a ton of similar non-contact injuries or injuries that occur during training it would raise a red flag to me.
-
Even still. Our DL aren’t holding up against the run. They are getting zero push more often than not. They need to get stronger.
-
I personally had great results with Baukol. After my first year I had no back issues going forward. I don’t agree with him on absolutely everything by any means but he’s not the incompetent schmuck people say he is. SC is not an exact science and there are tons of schools of thought who all have studied backing them.
-
I have more issues with the training staff than the sc staff. I have low back/ hip issues which results in crippling psychic nerve pain. They had no idea how to realign things properly so I went to my own physical therapist who is one of the best around since she knew my body and actually could get things fixed relatively permanently. When I told them I went elsewhere for treatment they were not happy and said I needed to come to them for treatment.

Third down in that situation should never be a draw. Second down I can live with.

He’s lookin good. I think we’ve got ourselves a steal with this guy.

I and many others will, rightfully so, be watching this new hire every closely. I don’t hate Kennedy the way some already do but I’m still waiting for him to show what he’s really got. He’s got to be able to surround himself with visionary people that are willing to roll their sleeves up and get to work. He needs to hire leaders not yes men.

On that 3rd and 2 where JJ got stuffed for a loss we had Adeotti out wide and the db was giving him 9 yards of cushion. 9. We needed 2. Instead we send him on the jet sweep action. We need to be able to check at the line in that situation and just take that offering because they had nobody out there that would’ve touched him until he had the first down and then some.
-
And yet we leave a true fr on an island against some of the best wrs in the country. How is supposed to succeed? He plays hard but there's no way he's ready to be left all alone. If we aren't bringing huge pressure we need to protect him over the top.
-
On the DL, what bothers me is they are getting zero push. They're on skates more often than not. They're too experienced for that to happen. But they also all need to get much bigger and stronger across the board for next year.
-
Freeney is 6'1" 268 lbs. Both our guys are taller than him and about 40 lbs lighter. Noah Johnson last season was our best DE and he was 6'2" 270.

Obviously, there are the injuries. But currently, we are on pace to have our worst defensive performance as a team since joining the Big Sky. Worse than those last two Mussman teams that people look to as the standard for defensive ineptitude. 33.7 - 2013 34.5 - 2012 36.5 - 2017. The guys need to step it up or they may turn in the worst defensive season in program history. Doesn't matter who's out there. We have two of the best teams on our schedule to end the year. It's not going to be easy but they need to figure it out. We're playing for pride at this point.
-
Half the time Bennett and Wilson are on skates because they aren't strong enough. They have good speed and agility but they don't help us much against the run. Stats on a bad defense are misleading. Those two need to be above 250lbs.
-
I really hope they are looking at some JUCO and FBS guys. A couple DBs, an OLB, an ILB, and a WR or two with height and speed. We need a handful of instant impact upperclassman transfers if we want to bounce back next year.

The bars at the ends are a nice touch, and ahead of their time, but the overall capacity should have been much higher.
-
I've heard Ralph wanted 15,000 at the beginning but small minded people talked the number down.
-
Also, it should have been built with 15,000 seats.
-
That building was designed to last longer than that.
