The 2017 season definitely set UND back, agreed. They started top 10 FCS and ended the season 3 - 8 ...... it really soured a lot of support that was growing back at that time.

The second part of your comment makes no sense to me. Places like UND? UND and their staff needs to recruit well or else they won’t win. Simple - get talent to come to grand forks. It starts with recruiting. That is college football 101 and anyone trying to convince themselves of something different is delusional. Development within the program is important, but you need talent upfront. This is well established in college football. I do think the 2020 recruiting class is coming together nicely.

Agree.  By build the program I mean have better record each year which should lead to better recruiting class each year.  Your not going to get the best athletes to came play for average team.

They do, however, recruit and coach the guys who do.

Wonder if the coaches every thought about that.  Little tough to recruit the best players if they don't want to play here.  Kind of a chicken and egg think.  Need to win to get the good players and need the good players to win.

I think the injuries of 2017 really hurt this team.  We were on the right track until then.  Bubba and his staff took a 3 win program over and increased their win total by 2 each year until the 9 win team of 2016.  Places like UND you need to build the program, you are not going to get back to back great recuriting classes and be a national championship contendor overnight.

I think Bubba and his staff of back on the right track.  Last year was better then the year prior and I think this years team is better than last year.

I think it is idiotic for our fans to jaw our players directly during a game.

I couldn't agree more with this.  Nate make a mistake he knows it,  he doesn't need the fan base telling him about it.  Save that stuff for the other teams Qb and support ours.  He is working his a$$ off and wants same as all of us, to win.  I'm sure no one is harder on him than himself.

  4. UND wins this game.  What has Davis really done this year?

    2 quality losses

    win over a bad team

    struggled and beat San Diego

    and got embarrassed against Montana

This is not a top 10 team this year.  If we can beat Sam Houston we can beat UC Davis.  An extra week of healing for Ketteringham and playing at home we win this 28-24.

Group question: Does a home hockey game hurt or help attendance? It may attract those that are from out of town and want to hit both, but others cant commit 6 hours and $$$ to sports on a single day, especially families.

I think is hurts or locals have things they need to get done on a Saturday and don't have the time to sit and watch 6 hours of sports.

I do not think that game is on the defense at all, by the way.  They had a tough first half, giving up 28 points, but the D held EWU to 35 points which in't that bad, considering EWU's scoring drives were only 59 yards, 18 yards, 59 yards, 64 yards, and 18 yards.  That is an average starting field position of OUR OWN 43.6 yard line.  That is on the Ket due to turnovers and special teams.  We averaged 31.3 yards punting vs EWU' 37.7.  EWU punted the ball nine times - UND 6 times.  The announcers mentioned how dumb it was for our punter to keep blasting it into the wind over and over, while EWU was doing the rugby punts to keep it out of the wind.  Special teams coaching fail yet again.

They way they ran the ball on us was embarrassing.  They also need to create a few turnovers.  I would get the D Defense a C grade at the best.

He had two sr qbs above him. He wanted to play and a big impact player

He has been an impact when at QB.  He should have started season as 3rd QB and still could have came in and did the wild cat stuff.  By now he might be starter.  Mistake by coaching staff

Is it possible at some point to find a dude at the QB position?  A run/pass guy that gives us a chance to get really creative in RPO?

    Asking for a friend....

I think they have in boltman. Not sure why he was moved to WR

Capacity is 8,600 (increased in 2004) with Red Srein Turf (installed in 2010).  Additional temporary seating is utilized to accommodate large crowds, which brings the capacity to nearly 12,000.

    Mascot is Swoop

its a 4:05 Central Time start, not 6:05.  I'm assuming you adjusted for time change after it was already adjusted more.

What happened with Lamar?  Werent they supposed to come?

    from UNDsports.com

Due to travel restrictions with Tropical Storm Imelda on Texas' gulf coast, Lamar University will be unable to attend the UND Classic this weekend. As a result the schedule for the tournament has been shortened

But will there be more fans (total) in the building week to week?

I don't think so.  You would just have people moving seats.

Plenty of good seats available if people want to go.  I was on the 40 yard line east side.  Plenty of open seats all around.  Maybe they were sold, if you don't like your seat, more to one you like more.  I do it all the time and have never had a problem.

  12. Personally i'm sick of bribing students to come to game and stay at games.  Either they want to be there or they don't.  They already get discounted or free tickets to all events.  Either come to the games or the university will sell the sit to someone who wants to be there.  This is separate from trying to make the game experience better.  I'm all for making the Ralph, Alerus, and Betty a more fun place to be, am just tired of the free pizza, bubba bucks and Nodak rewards.

  13. A lot of season left.  This one hurts , but in the end it is only lose.  Win or lose today we have to put this one behind us there is a lot left to be accomplished.  I think most on here knew we were in trouble with our defensive line it showed today.   Need to learn from today and move on. Still pissed about flag being picked up, next play INT.  Unlikely that ball is forced like that if 1st and 10 at midfield.  Game was basically over from there.  Lots of misssd holding calls.

The one thing I will always remember about the 1997 team was the Regional Championship game in Fargo against the Bison.  Remember that for most of the decade, NDSU women's basketball was king.  They had played in the last 6 National Championship games, winning 5 of them.  Going into that game UND had everything stacked against them.  NDSU was the 4 time defending National Champions, had beaten UND the last 5 meetings including the previous years Regional Final, and were currently undefeated (28-0) going into that game against UND.  And UND went into Fargo against all those odds and beat them.  And that changed everything.  The Sioux had finally gotten over the hump and taken down the giant.  Of course we all know what happened after that, 3 straight National Championships as well as another title game appearance.  One could argue the balance of power shifted over to UND and has been that way ever since.  One of the biggest moments in UND athletics history.

If I remember right UND was losing by 10+ pts late in the game and it looked like another loss before going a nice run to finish the game.

Any news who Ryan Ladouceur's assistant coaches will be at RR?

Also is he back working at the Ralph Hockey Academy for his FT job?

Jaksen Panzer will be playing for EGF next season.

I know for a fact that he is registered at Central.  So I don't think this is true.
