That call on MacWilliam last night was brutal

What I heard is that the league contacted SCSU about having the cup in Madison for them but SCSU just said they would rather just have it on Friday night of the WCHA playoffs so they can celebrate with their fans. Because of that Minnesota was allowed to keep the cup for now, so they brought it to Bemidji, I guess. I believe since there's 2 champions that each team gets the cup for 6 months too.

I guess I disagree with this. New markets would be nice, but it's a very niche sport so it's not like they're going to be gaining a lot going into a new market. If it were up to me I'd grab Mankato in a heart beat if they really prove they want to commit to their hockey program. That gives you 3 of the 5 D1 teams in Minnesota. The more teams you can have from Minnesota the better because it's such a large hockey market. Bemidji isn't ideal, but even then you'd have the entire state of Minnesota under your wing, minus the metro. The metro is the big one, but that's why you host your conference tournament there. The NCHC could literally be THE hockey conference for the state of Minnesota. Just without Minnesota, obviously.

Yep. STA has beaten Edina, Hill-Murray, Benilde St Margarets and Shattuck St. Mary's this year. And they're playing the flippin' Class A State Tournament. They might as well invite Shattuck and Michigan State to play in the Class A tournament. They've won their last 8 games, all against Class A teams, by a combined score of 79-2 and haven't lost to a class A team since March of 2010.

Never. STA should have moved up to AA 5 years ago but they're a bunch of cowards. They'd be the favorite to win the AA tournament this year if they were in it, but at least they'd actually have to try to win the championship.

The fact that STA is in class A is the biggest joke ever. They beat Shattuck St. Mary's this year for cripes sake. The lack of class shown by the players is ridiculous as well. I want EGF to come out in the third and physically beat the piss out of STA, cleanly of course.

Lol. Alright you got me there. That post was done without much thought process after a long night of studying for a midterm. I believe as of right now 7 Big Ten teams are completely locked into the tournament. It just comes down to Iowa IIRC. They're all sorts of bubblicious right now

Like SiouxScore said, the football argument is one thing. But to say the ACC is better than the Big Ten in basketball anymore is legitimately a joke. The ACC is TERRIBLE, other than Miami and Duke, which overall aren't strong enough to compete in the Big Ten all year. It is the premier basketball conference in the NCAA, which is why they'll have at least 8 (67%) of their teams in the NCAA tournament.

Fox Sports 1 isn't going to look much into college hockey. They have a deal signed with UFC already to air fights either weekly or biweekly. If things go well enough I suspect the UFC would LOVE to get enough advertising dollars to get off PPV and onto cable with Fox Sports 1, bringing in MUCH more potential viewers. I feel like UFC is going to be a top priority for them since neither ESPN nor NBCSN can show it.

Mariucci is in the minority on that one. Even tDon and Minnesota itself wanted to stay in the WCHA. So he's really in the minority.

I know. I'm just saying that because Minnesota would have the #1 seed. So they'd probably have it there. It also wouldn't surprise if, in that situation, they had it at Mariucci Friday and REA on Saturday. Or maybe they just don't show it at all?

They don't bring it on the road though, do they? Since SCSU is on the road wouldn't they award it to them in St. Cloud the following weekend? I guess I'm not positive on that one.

Well then, why don't you write Jim Delaney and ask for a response as to why the conference is being started and report back with the answer?

They couldn't have. In all reality, this whole mess is one mans fault. And that man is Terry Pegula. As soon as he gave them the money to go DI that created 6 Big Ten schools with hockey. Like Bale said earlier, in the Big Ten bylaws it states that if any 6 conference schools sponsor the same sport that a Big Ten Conference for that sport will be created. So basically, just hate Penn State.

I know that, if they have a 5 way tie all 5 teams go on it too. I'm not dumb. But if MN and UND tied at the top the cup would more than likely be in Mariucci next weekend due to them being the #1 seed

If that was the case the MacNaughton would probably end up in Mariucci next week since they hold the tie breaker with UND.
