  1. Agreed. I'm pretty sure if UND gets in it's almost 0% that they end up in St. Paul now. I say almost because: 1. It's a new PWR formula and nobody is 100% sure if they have it correct yet. 2. You never know if the committee will put UND in St. Paul if they end up as the #15 seed. This is from Nate Wells on Twitter earlier: @gopherstate 4h @ChrisDilks The only time I can think recently where 1 didn't play 16 is MN getting 15 Air Force in Denver while 2 ND got 16 Huntsville. But he also pointed out that since the CHA dissolved it's been 1v16 every year
  2. I'm almost 100% positive that it's going to come down to either UND or SCSU in the West Regional with Minnesota.
  3. I can't believe Minnesota has only lost 2 games to this point. Like others have said though, they're not a dominant team and shouldn't be overly feared by many. The one thing that may help them is having been #1 most of the season they've been getting what is more than likely the best effort of every team they play against. They're a very young team, so mistakes will happen. The offense is actually the concerning part of the team to me. The defense has its own share of problems some times, but what team doesn't? Like SiouxForce said, they haven't been a very strong puck possession team this year, which can really bite you in the butt.
  4. If they bring it back to campus sites (which they should) they need one simple rule. The team that hosts is the high seed. Giving fans time to travel isn't an excuse because chances are if it's at a schools home arena it's going to sell out anyways. The way they did the on campus regionals before was a joke. You should never run into the problem of a 4 seed possibly hosting a regional in their home arena because that screws over the team that had a good season and earned the one seed. Just my two cents
  5. I prefer the Overrated more, actually. I don't feel like looking it up, but has anyone heard anything new about possibly coming back to campus sites for regionals in 2017 and 2018? I know they left those years open for that possibility but I haven't heard anything more
  6. Mmmmmmmm . I'm so glad it's available in East Grand Forks now
  7. St Cloud is considered part of the metro population, but it's the very edge of it (Stupid, I know). There are also two counties in Wisconsin that are considered part of the Twin Cities metro population.
  8. It's a metropolitan area, but money isn't unlimited for most of the people living in it. The Wild and Gophers share A LOT of the same fans. Gophers basketball is significantly more popular than Gopher hockey (Same with every Big Ten school) and that takes even more money from fans who would possibly spend it to go to a Gophers hockey game. It's a completely different scenario in Grand Forks where there is literally no competition. It doesn't help that many of those other teams play the same night as the Gophers. A lot of people just choose to stay home or go to the bar so they can watch all of the games and not just one.
  9. I can't believe how down the NCHC is this year, to be honest. SCSU is a good team, but I wasn't sure how good because they've really struggled to win against the good teams that they've played. UND is starting to show they're the best team in the conference I think. Granted they haven't had an overly tough schedule the last month, but their play is noticeably better compared to earlier in the season. As we've seen in recent years, with the parity in college hockey now all you need to do is make the tournament and you have a chance to win it because of the one and done format
  10. Never had breakfast there, but I've never been disappointed with Kieran's food
  11. Not to be arrogant , but that's because Minnesota has a much bigger fan base for their college hockey team than the rest of the B1G teams. There's a reason that BTN had a guy go on GPL to start getting feedback and suggestions so they could improve their hockey broadcasts.
  12. Yes. Lol I guess not. I like the neutral officials idea better. On a side note, Munn Arena blows. Put some modern lighting in your arena for cripes sake. The shadows of the players skating shouldn't be that noticeable. If the shadows were colored red or blue it would look like a real life game of NHL 96 on SEGA Genesis with the stars underneath them
  13. Honestly not sure. This first game is B1G refs so I'm guessing they're going to try and keep neutral officials if possible. If so it would be WCHA. Should know soon Edit: It's WCHA officials.
  14. Solid point. I take it back. I'm actually excited about the night game. I went to the Friday game when SCSU played in GF and they looked like a pretty good team. Should be a fun match up with them
  15. Pretty low attendance for the first game, but that was expected. Probably no more than 4,000-5,000.
  16. Sorry Mafia, I couldn't miss the opportunity to post it
  17. 100% agree with this. Maybe 20 or 30, heck even 15 years ago the smaller ice sheet seemed like a smart choice. But seeing how players have gotten and keep getting bigger and more skilled, I think it's gotten to the point where the larger ice surface would make the game much more wide open and entertaining than it is now. The NHL is always trying to find ways to increase offense, and I think that would make a huge difference
  18. That's a good question. He didn't really give any sort of clue to that. I'd imagine sometime in the next 5 years.
  19. Not sure if it's something worth looking in to, but last night on BTN during the Penn State game Eddie Olczyk said that he believes it's only a matter of time before Northwestern, Illinois and Iowa add teams. I hope he's right.
  20. I'm not lying...If someone has it DVR'd go back and watch. Goon, if you have it DVR'd than you should put it on here.
  21. Announced on Twitter tonight he's committed to Minnesota. Don't know much about him so I can't really comment on that.
  22. But the Gameday guys were also saying that it's a travesty Hakstol gets paid more than Bohl, made fun of people for caring about hockey up here and started a "Tear it down" chant about the UND flags.
  23. GFG

    Fanfest

Awww, going back to their real colors I see Cool to see them do this, though. Should raise quite a bit of money.
  24. Agreed. Head to head between the top 3 is huge. Yes, each team faces every other team 4 times.
  25. Not at all surprised. Minnesota lost quite a bit and is a very young team.
