I watched the Missouri St. game replaying on Midco last night.  (I missed it because I was in Maine that day, so I only ever saw highlights.)  I did notice that there is a lot of noise from the band and music from the speakers when UND is on offense.  While it seems like this would be detrimental to our offense, if Bubba was upset about it, don't you think he would have stopped it by now?  Maybe the coaches like to challenge themselves during a real-game scenario to mimic playing in a hostile road environment??  Or maybe Bubba can't hear at his age?!  Anyway, playing at the Alerus as NOT been detrimental, so why screw up a good thing?

The speakers are above and aimed at the crowd. I wonder if it's really not that loud once you're out in the middle of the field.

They called for a two point play at 26-21. To me that's easy; that's the right decision to try to go up seven.

But at 32-21, they ran a two point play (yes, it worked, 34-21 and up 13); but, I would've called for the K and go up 12. Your thoughts?

I didn't mind it.  What's the difference between being up 11 or 12?  At 13, we force a kicker who was 0/2 on FGs (3/3 on XPs, to be fair) to make 2 more XPs.

The XP vs 2 point decision that didn't make any sense was MSU choosing to take the XP and leave it a 3 score game (48-31) when they could've gone for 2 to cut it to a 2-score game.  Yes it was late in the game, but there was still enough time for a miracle.

The owners of McKenzie River and Johnny Carinos (just to name a couple) in Bismarck would like a word with you.

The owner of Mckenzie river in Bismarck was the reason he had no staff. Unfortunate because I liked their food.

Per 360, on the year UND has allowed a 59% conversion rate on 3rd downs. No surprise, that is the worst in the MVFC. One week at a time, Missouri State's % this week will be the difference in the game. If they are <50% UND wins.

Yeah the team needs to help the fans out a bit.  It's deflating to be getting extra loud on 3rd and long and watch the opponent convert time and time again.

I guess they are wanting to have two quality kickers, the kicker we recruited last year looked like he had a pretty big leg.  His hudl had multiple kickoffs hitting the back of the end zone.  Or maybe after seeing him in practice this year they are not sure.  After the kicking debacles we've had lately...might just be being safe to have two quality kickers in case of injury.

Woulda been even better if his last name was spelled Dokken instead :D

Didn't that guy bail on us late for Kansas State?

Is state funding strictly tied to total enrollment? That would be UND: 13,876 / NDSU 12,242?

The number that really stuck out to me was first time freshman.

    • NDSU: 2,513
    • UND: 1,753

    On Campus Full Time

    • NDSU: 9,608
    • UND: 7,664 (or 8,457)

Clearly with all the improvements made around campus that there is still very much an emphasis on on campus learning. Hoping to see those numbers tighten between the two.

Not entirely, it's based on credits completed (so enrollment does have an impact).  There's also an increased funding amount for certain credits, like engineering compared to English.

I think they said that's leftover from the Covid era. The idea was to keep the two media groups separated? Now Tom Miller points out there is plenty of room in the box and people here add it to the conspiracy. The original idea wasn't about needing space in the press box, it was about keeping the visitors away from the townies.

Why are you searching so hard for excuses.  It was a combination of a bad idea and COVID.  COVID is over and it's time to move past the bad idea.  It doesn't need to be a big deal, they just need to fix it by going back to doing nothing.  It's incredibly easy.

Beer Grandma has to be the dumbest controversy to ever come up in these pages. Why is it so important to you to see an old lady take a drink of beer? Why is it a surprise to you that in a time when a ton of attention is paid to binge drinking and underage drinking that a bunch of teetotalers would piss and moan about Beer Grandma and the Ralph would get tired of hearing about it and just stop doing it?

I don't recall; did anyone ever ask Beer Grandma? Maybe she got tired of it and asked them to stop?

So they would never stop doing something the people enjoyed, unless the people were consuming alcohol.

The fact we felt the need for two "big" schools was a huge oversight for the state. We should have done the Wyoming model and had one "flagship" or whatever. Yeah, we'd lose an annual football game but other than that... would be good for academics. Think of all the overhead we are dealing with now.

Fargo refused to accept their role as the agricultural college.

If I enjoyed standing there, instead of buying a regular ticket and hoping my favorite spot was open I would prefer to buy a ticket for that specific spot.

Are these spots set up so that the ticket holder can't stand?

The row of chairs behind you won't appreciate that.  And you didn't address the free movement.

Is it really not going to be affected? Their big QB recruit chose Washington over NDSU, probably because of NIL. All P5’s will have NIL money soon so the rest of the bottom feeders in the G5 and FCS will have to pony up or not get these guys. Heck even walk in’s are getting money so they are not even really walk in’s anymore.

He probably chose Washington because it's a P5 Washington.  I doubt NIL played much of a role.
