  1. After 2 weeks without a day of over 4% of tests coming back positive in ND, the last 2 days have seen +6.5% positive testing rate. Hopefully it's not a trend. Looks like Cass County nursing homes are still struggling to keep the virus out. Of the 935 Cass County confirmed cases, 214 are long-term care facility employees and residents. Granted, part of that is due to who they are targeting for testing.
  2. Was that the game they ran our goalie on the OT winner?
  3. Political grandstanding by the tribal chairman aside, they probably do need to put more effort into prevention there due to some of the issues you point out (diabetes, HTN, etc.) and the substandard medical care available on the reservations.
  4. It seems LIU's only mission here was to increase publicity (good or bad) for the university and enrollment. They're making a mockery of the sport.

  6. I'm not real familiar with T bond trading. Are they not frequently traded on the open market? Would we be able to identify and nullify only the China-held bonds? Would we be able to prevent the sale of the China-held bonds to others around the world? Assuming this all takes planning, would we be able to act and lock down the market before China finds out and launches a fire-sale? Would other countries holding America's debt trust that we would not do the same to them in the future? The idea of punching a hole in China's bank account while making our balance sheet better sounds nice, but how feasible is it while maintaining our financial system?
  7. I prefer not to live in one dumb extreme or the other.
  8. This and other similar charts are behind the social media mask push. Snopes says the percentages are all made up. As for the CDC changing its mind to recommend masks, I'd say either they were recommending against them at first to preserve supply for medical professionals and they were always good, or they're recommending them now in a TSA-like move to simply make people feel safer. Tough to know what to believe in today's environment.
  9. He admits he wrote inappropriate things. The "my account was hacked" defense would have placed the blame for those inappropriate messages on a hacker.
  10. Let me know if this should be under 2019 recruiting @UND Fan
  11. No he didn't. Did the writer even read the tweet?

  13. CM blamed the caregiver, who I'm sure feels bad enough already. Good point on the nursing home, possible bad assumption on my part.
  14. Agreed. And I'm surprised anyone who would consider blaming the $12/hour CNA for their elder getting sick didn't pull that elder out of the nursing home 2 months ago.
  15. Something I hadn't considered before, but will this virus lead to a decline in the use of nursing homes and a return to family members taking care of their elders?
  16. What is the source of this graph? I'm just wondering if the actual data is only through late April or if they really stopped having deaths.
  17. Thanks. Memory is going. Edit: It's apparently changed since April 22, but the stated goal now is 4000 by the end of May. https://ndresponse.gov/sites/www/files/documents/covid-19/ND Smart Restart/8 Conditions.pdf
  18. Wasn't the goal 2000/day in May, 4000/day in June, and 6000/day in July?
  19. https://www.health.nd.gov/diseases-conditions/coronavirus/north-dakota-coronavirus-cases New table on the state DOH website identifies officially reported cause of death for those who died with COVID. Of the 25 deaths, 15 were COVID, 2 other, and 8 TBD.
  20. No covid so far. Thanks. As for the preservation of life at all costs, I think the decision-makers are often more focused on stopping Coronavirus at all costs. Unfortunately those 2 aren't necessarily the same thing.
  21. I don't think it's all suicide, murder, and OD. People are having heart attacks and strokes by themselves. People are avoiding the hospitals and missing necessary treatment. Just 2 weeks ago my girlfriend had to convince her aunt's family to take the aunt into the hospital. They were afraid of her catching the virus at the hospital because she has significant preconditions. After some arm twisting they took her in and found she'd had a heart attack. She'd be dead had she not gone to the hospital.
  22. Possibly. Or it's an indicator the lockdowns are having a significantly negative effect on public health. Probably a combination.
  23. Unfortunately in the food industry, if they're wearing gloves it probably just means they haven't washed or disinfected in a long time.... all while touching money, credit cards, and their face.
