Unfortunately for your argument, the Ohio number is closer to 1 in 100 and most of those are Penguins fans who don't care about college hockey. As for whether or not OSU fans will tune in for the game...... they won't.
-
Agreed. If we want the team to be more disciplined, the place to start is by making them earn their way onto the field by showing discipline and learning the playbook off the field. Rewarding talented players who are lazy isn't the way to go.
-
But yes, playoffs has priority.

There is a fire Hak thread too that will probably start up again sometime in December or January and it doesn't seem to affect recruiting for hockey, seeing as next year's projected class is supposed to be the best college class ever. Blaming a fan forum for missing out on a recruit is pretty weak.

Probably not double, but certainly more.

I've finally realized who's to blame, even though it's been right in front of me for months......

As an alum, get serious about setting expectations for this team or we'll be following Northern Colorado.
-
That team was never blown out: at Iowa St - L 17-34 at Sam Houston St - L 45-48 vs Wagner - W at S Illinois - L 14-24 vs Illinois St - L 24-27 vs N Iowa - L 27-42 at SDSU - L 13-28 vs Missouri St - L 17-21 at W Illinois - W at Indiana St - W vs Youngstown St - L 35-39 Also, Bohl led them to 10-1 seasons in 2006 and 2007 and had wins over FBS teams.

UND has games against other hockey programs that are actually good. We'll have non-conference games against Wisconsin next year and there will be a "come to jesus meeting" with Minnesota soon to right that wrong. The competition UND will be facing doesn't worry me nearly as much as the reduction in national TV coverage caused by the NCHC's ridiculous contract with CBS Sports.

Come on everybody, Muss isn't to blame here. The blowout against Montana was obviously caused by player errors and lack of support from the fans. Montana was really good so we should've never expected our team to actually compete with them. We really need to lower our expectations, I mean, this is only Muss's 6th year so I don't know why anybody would expect his team to be able to compete with other teams that are actually good. If we give him 3 more years he'll get it figured out. Also, if we fire Muss, who would we hire? It's not like there are any other football coaches out there who might be looking for more money or a program to put their stamp on.

Can you just put Truthseeker on ignore while continuing to answer valid fan questions please? We appreciate you stopping in and providing accurate information on what's actually happening.

Did you really just try to turn this into a "what about the starving kids in Africa" argument?
-
That would be funny.
-
So we can expect the team to go "toe to toe" with MSU next week?
-
Nomane is very close to our current mascot....
-
You don't get it. The average sports fan is going to see that hockey is on and skip to the next channel.
-
Perhaps you should ask yourself why we are not a top 10 team. If you feel the guys on the team are close to mutiny, why are you against calling for Muss to be fired?
-
It's going to be pretty sad when we go 3-4 at home. It's not unreasonable to think we may even go 1-6 at home this year.
-
Anyone know if he's related to Chris Wilkie? He'll be coming in for hockey in a couple years. Just think if they're related it could be a motivator for him to come here..... unless they hate each other of course.
-
19-26 fcs record. Ofer against fbs. 0 wins over fcs playoff teams. In Muss's tenure the receiving core has improved and every other position is worse than it was in dII. That resume speaks for itself.

There's certainly a lot to be worried about if things don't start to show signs of improvement soon. I have high hopes for the men's BB team this year as a birth in the big tournament is very possible but I worry about how far that team is going to drop after this year. I think hockey is one more year from being ready to contend for another title but it's going to be difficult to keep some of the necessary pieces from leaving early. Women's BB is awful, only thing we can say is hey at least we're better than ndsu. Volleyball continues to be a bright spot and hopefully we can hold onto the coach. Football needs a complete coaching staff overhaul. The culture of that team has steadily declined over the past 5 years. I believe there is enough talent on the team to at least be competitive, but they need a culture change and a coach that will get the best out of every player. I feel most of our programs are on the edge right now and it's a matter of whether they fall off or prove they're ready to play with the big dogs.

Are you referring to the posts on bisonville or are you attempting to pass yourself off as a UND fan?

IMO, outdoor hockey isn't what's going to make the casual fan start watching hockey on tv so the entire premise of Mariucci's argument is moot. Hockey is already a tough sell on tv (it just doesn't translate well) and playing against a BAD team on BAD ice in an EMPTY stadium isn't going to help. Outdoor hockey is a gimmick that gets people's attention for a few minutes and after they see the empty stadium and poor play, they'll change the channel. If they saw a fuller stadium and two teams and fanbases that loathe eachother, they might stick around. The average sports fan isn't likely to tune in at all, and if they do they'll change the channel soon after. By scheduling UND, UM and the BTN would've guaranteed themselves at least a decent (by hockey standards) following.
