No question Bjugstad, with his size, speed, and reach he could play in the NHL after this season ends IMO and hold his own.

We are forgetting about the clause that Jason Gregoire used. Since Danny played a year of Juniors after being drafted, he can withdraw from school and become a free agent after this season like Gregoire did. I honestly think that is what he will/should do, it is pretty dumb not too. He is going to get the rookie max no matter where he signs, why not have your pick of 30 teams instead of just 1?

I agree with your assessment, but being dominant in college sometimes doesn't translate to the NHL level right away. Look at Matt Read, a solid player in college, but never really dominant. He steps right in and contributes on an NHL playoff team. It seems like the "smarter" players in college do better in the NHL than the dominant ones. That is why I think of all the players in college hockey right now, Jaden Schwartz will have the best NHL career.

Hopefully the boys want some payback for that embarassing loss to BSU back in the first half of the year, even though that was essentially the turning point in our season.

I think you are underestimating Grimaldi's potential. I honestly think that if he would have been healthy this year, this would have been his one and only year playing as a Fighting Sioux. I realize the NHL isn't looking for 5'6 players, but being drafted with the 3rd pick in the second round while being 5'6" says something about how good NHL scouts think this kid can be. This was after he fell about 10-15 spots from where he was projected in the draft.

I'm really not worried at all about anyone but Kristo leaving early. I see MacWilliam taking awhile in the minor's before making it the NHL, no reason to leave early for that. Nelson needs another year to add strength. If Dell didn't sign after last year, I really don't see him signing this year. I think Knight sticks around because he is drafted by Florida, who has arguably the deepest prospect pool in the NHL. He leaves this year and he is probably a 3rd line player on their AHL team next year. I would much rather be senior captain for the Fighting Sioux than a 3rd line center for the San Antonio Rampage.

This happened basically on the first shot of warmups. The glass broke so the players went off the ice while the glass was being cleaned up and replaced. The game started about 20 minutes later than originally scheduled.

I agree, it won't be easy, but UND won the Broadmoor two years ago playing 6 games in 9 days but that was with a full lineup.
-
UAA scores to make it 2-1.
-
Beavers tie it, and look like the better team so far. 1-1 middle of the first.
-
I am already 100% content that Kristo will be gone after this year, so if he stays I will be extrememly surprised/happy, If nobody leaves early, this team has to be one of the favorites for the National Championship next year.

http://uaahockey.nmtvsports.com/uaahockey.htm Link to BSU vs. UAA game. UAA leads 1-0 early.

Watching the BSU vs. UAA game on the feed from Alaska, amazing how much smoother the feed is without the thousands of Sioux fans tuning in.

Rodwell was for sure in a sling, Grimaldi was the one on crutches.
-
Would like to see the Gophers win so we have a chance at playing BSU instead of Wisconsin next weekend.

Saw this article too, seems to be a recurring theme here with the cheap hits and suspensions.

I just read the Gopher's live chat out of curiosity and how in the heck is Roman the beat writer for arguably the biggest problem in college hockey? He knows next to nothing about hockey and seems like he barely even follows the team. Had very little insight on recruits etc, except stuff that anyone could google such as stats etc. We are very lucky to have Brad. He puts tremendous effort into his job and really keeps us informed on everything Sioux hockey.

It sounds like the numbers and names are being put on the new jersey's right now. They will not be used until the postseason however. The band has been wearing "non-Sioux" uniforms since the 1st of the year, not sure if the cheerleader's have new uniforms or not.

Commodore and Lee are paired together for Tampa Bay. The commentator made a comment about the coach having a hard time making D pairings because of all of the new players. He had this to say about Lee and Commodore. "They both have Fighting Sioux in their blood, they will figure it out."
-
I agree probably not gonna happen. At least in Iowa, Nebraska etc. there is a fairly rich history of successful USHL programs, so it probably could work there. Kansas doesn't really have much history with hockey, let along trying to establish a successful Division 1 program.
-
Those two teams are without a doubt the two lowest-profile team in the new NCHC, and they are still above-average level programs in the NCAA.

I love how when youtube "Kevin Wehrs", all of the video's that pop up are of him getting demolished. Poor guy.

That has been my computer background for a good 6 months now.

He was making a sarcastic comment implying that most of the UND fans at the Final Five live somewhere in the MSP metro area, so they don't come "down" from anywhere.

I stand corrected.
