Who votes for coach of the year? Coaches, athletic directors, and select media? Berry must be well regarded by a whole bunch of clueless voters and not by certain message board posters.

I was thinking holy sh*t, as a team you just lost a boat load of talent after your 2016 championship and now we just got jobbed by the refs on the game winning goal. And from the bench Jost could see his agent lighting cigars with benjamins from the waiting limo. Despite the outcome that was a damn good weekend of hockey in Fargo. Good venue, second best in the state. Geez we are a spoiled group. Thanks coach Berry and staff!

On average, Berry has won 2 out of 3 games with who he has got playing for him. His winning % is .667 and Sandy’s is .545. I feel that he has met the program’s expectations to compete at the highest level every year. With that said your team may occasionally miss the tournament. There are only so many upper tier coaches in college hockey, and he is one of them. It would be pretty stupid to fire or not rehire all of the 58 coaches that don’t bring home the National Championship every year. We do have SIX titles in the last 41 tournaments. In my 40+ years of watching, that is better than any other team. I would guess that their winning percentage is very near the top also for that time frame. So in my experience, they have been the best team in college hockey. And if not UND, who should I cheer? Who has been better? The increased parity of the college game in the last twenty years will hopefully continue in the new pay a player era (NIL).

Your point is well taken Nostradamus, he was forced out immediately after 12 more years. Probably doesn’t even have a job currently.

Most of us have been around to witness, since 1980, six national championships. Incredible that we can still complain on the ‘down years’. Berry ain’t blowing smoke when he talks about the culture of the program and his and the team’s gratitude for the tremendous fan support.

You are either on to something or on something. With that type of logic, many on here would have to descend off their soapbox and cease and desist with the Berry bashing. We are a passionate fan base. Sometimes we forget to be equally grounded in reality. Up until Tampa in 2016, I was 0-5 at frozen fours and had lost a lot of hope. Sh*t, most programs struggle to get that far as consistently as the Sioux do. Now I am glad that I was there and I have a lot more patience for our team and the how difficult a one and done tournament can be.

As banged up and under manned as the team is, I’m ok with winning the battle to the puck, the next shift, this period, this game mentality. The players all got their man card stamped this weekend. One hell of a showing against the dogs. Lots of pride and a no quit Sioux team first mentality. Was nice to see Berry and Sandelin embrace at the end of the weekend also. Battle tested 40 year friendship.

Currently two of the top five scorers in the BCHL will be 21 year old freshman at Mankato this fall. Seems like good recruiting by the coaches but will their over ager point production continue in a much older CCHA?

I was thinking the banner hangers of scsu. Their teams I usually like, their fans I do not.

If I had my way, Wheeler should have been called for diving against JPL or maybe Lammy should have used one of his windmill saves. Geez, I miss those epic final five games

Is this new? I thought the treatment was bleach, horse tablets, and a club soda chaser

WJC is pretty important for these athletes and has been supported heavily by the coaches, many of whom have had the rare opportunity to participate in the World Juniors and represent their home country themselves. 6-8 games on the world stage against the best in the world for the age group in exchange for missing an exhibition game and two non conference games. I know what I would wish for as a coach for my athlete ….maybe the answer is less blue chippas -
2-3 blue chips and the rest of the team a mix of role players and grinders has returned how many championships? Recently, I am thinking the 2016 Sioux champs and maybe the 03 or 04 gophers have had national known talent and completed the year on top. Some great and talented Denver teams as well. Michigan now has a 4 year window to bring home a couple of championships, and they did not do it last year (Covid the deciding factor) Seems like older teams with a good majority of 3-4 year players have had a great deal of success. Thinking Duluth, Providence, Union, Yale and Michigan State. How many blue chip laden teams has Sandy parlayed into a national champ? Or has he done it with a great opportunity and coaching? Barely made some tournaments but put it together late, and with what blue chippers?

Hopefully Perron is as good as shaugs. Is this now an endorsement of Perron?

Good catch gfhockey. If it was the case, that Rizzo did not want to bide his time with the talent in front of him, to work his way into a top six role, that is not much of a team first mentality. Especially a first year player. -

Two NHL drafts didn’t want him either. Oh, oh, oh, oh. Breaking news: Big10 powerhouse OSU got him. Michigan didn’t have room for him. I will just wish him well, I do not have the incredible insight of others.

Forgoing $100+ tickets isn’t necessarily being cheap. Both UofM and UND sacrifice their best fans, the students, to maximize the profit of this series. Don’t know, but I could easily guess that next years series of the Sioux in the John will be Thanksgiving weekend also. I guess if I would look up the gopher football schedule for next year we could also figure out if the game will be Thursday/Friday like in 2019. Edit: MN football at Camp Randall on Saturday, Nov 26.

Welcome back. The animate objects that you will witness this weekend in every seat at the Ralph are people. Real live people, actual fans. You can remember what those were, eh?

Would a previously posted political slanted rant suffice for a reason to eat somewhere, anywhere, EGF perhaps?

Blood slowed up and waited for Aaron Marvin to follow him behind the goal line. When Marvin caught up, Blood shouldered him to the ice. Retribution for Marvin’s end of season plus one year hit on Chay Genoway.
