This is my concern as well. This is the point I have been trying to make over and over.

Really, then you haven't been listening to Brad Berry. He's "NOT" satisfied with the results of the last season. He was on the next Tuesday with Tim Hennesey after the season was over, and said as much.

And what did they do? Gwoz wanted an extension but they instead fired him and hired Monty, who at the time was 43...can't keep relying on tradition to win recruiting battles. The player commits to the coach. Maybe for once in the history of our athletics we look outside of the program for a head coach.

Funny you should mention Monty, he's been the Bruins head coach for two season and has won 112-32-20 (.743) the last two season and some in Bruins nation want him fired if his team is bounced in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

  3. Back in 2010, @redwing wrote this blog post on Goons World and it kind of seems like we've been here before. Some of the same themes have reappeared.

It’s hard to take. It’s unimaginable that this team… MY team… OUR team… could falter like they are right now. There are no stats or records that can be put forth to change the reality that this part of our game isn’t working, that part of our game isn’t doing well, and so on.

Brad Schlossman’s blog covers the fact that I’m portraying here. We pine for Blais. We think he’s the savior and Hakstol is the mule. One commenter on his blog states that “before our very eyes, UND is turning into St. Cloud State.” Well, let me tell ya folks, unless the NCAA is going to take away 7 National Championships and all of our NCAA tourney victories, that’s patently untrue. Also, they talk about Hakstol as a recruiter being a problem. Funny how he recruited such guys as Matt Greene, Matt Smaby, had a hand in snatching Johnny Toews, Zach Parise, and all those players we covet so much. Blais didn’t recruit everyone on his teams. Hakstol got the job based upon his ability to recruit, not just coaching ability. If you want to know how important that ability is, ask Scott Sandelin. It’s arguably why he’s still in Duluth after a few down seasons. We talk about how Hakstol should at least show some emotion on the bench yet, when other coaches do so, we berate that coach for being such a fool (see Gwozdecky, George). (Link)

The forum on May 7th is a must-attend for those who can make it.

What kind of questions do you ask? I doubt he'd say that Berry would be in any trouble if Bubba was given an extension.  I am more concerned about the state of the football program. Think about this, our O-Cordinaro, a UND grad left for a conference foe.  We lost his replacement to NDSU. This program is a dumpster fire. We can’t win anywhere but at home. That concerns me more.

That's the one tangible thing I think UND could be better at, a stronger goalie pipeline.

I think that one area UND could improve in.

This is my second 20-year drought between Gophers titles, so it's pretty comical to hear you all complain about 2016.  Any least you all didn't lose to QU.

    Sounds reasonable.

    You

Players and their parents shouldn’t read any fan board. Same goes for any sport football, basketball, etc. That’s player orientation 101.

What a waste of their time unless we really are the experts we all claim to be and maybe they should listen. Easy way to deal with criticism is to not read it!

Cam Johnson said he saw everything that was written about him. There's that.

I will stop you there if/when Berry leaves it will not be filled by someone outside of the program.

And in two years, some of the fans here would be calling for that coach to be fired, too. You can bank on it.

We went through this every year Hak was coach, too. Before Hak left I went on Jared Thomas’s show and he asked how long before the program fires him, and moves on from Hakstol? I said, Hak will move on at time of his choosing. Which he did.

I said, “the university isn't going to fire him.“

Just for the record, players and their families read the message board.

Regardless on how the season ended, I'll follow them no matter what happens. I’d be more upset with the current state of the football and basketball programs than hockey.

I never called for Hak’s head once. He had us as a top team in the country every year. Can the same be said for Berry? No. We may not be buying Berry out but if he can’t make major changes we need to move on!

And replace him with who? I hang up and listen.

    Starting to take shape.
    Projection based on current info:

    Forward (15):
    GR - Jamernik
SR - Berg, Kunz, Schmaltz, Wilkie
JR - McLaughlin, James, Strinden, Montgomery
    SO - Perron
FR - Swanson, Boisvert, Croal, Littler/Klee
    X - Portal

    Defense (8):
    JR - Zmolek
SO - Livanavage, Wiebe, Komzak, MacDonald
    FR - Jubenvill, Strathmann, Emery

    Goalie (3):
    SR - Semptimphelter
    JR - Johnson
    SO - Hedquist

I just listened to Berry with Hennessy on KFGO and he said Boisvert might be a first-round draft choice.

Ok then, what was it about Dean Blais & Jerry York that made them great college hockey coaches?

I was mostly directing the question at Goon, but it's open to anyone, I guess.

They were great coaches in their time. They game has passed them by, their methods really don't work with today's athletes. I think Berry is a good coach, he's also a great human being. I think DC in Denver is also good. Honestly, some on this board don't like Berry and I really don't feel like getting in a pissing contest, we're not going to change each other's mind. People have their own views. I can respect that. For instance, some people like pineapple on their pizza, I don't.
