wish all of us Sioux fans (in the "NEW" ralph) could take a lesson or two from the 'hosers!! They're great fans!! (maybe with a "little" less beer intake but that's a topic for another thread!) They remind me of the Sioux crowd at the old ralph....TOTALLY LOYAL and not GIVING A DAMN WHAT ANYONE THINKS ABOUT IT!!! JUST SCREAM BABY!!!!! (and maybe pull a dead gopher out of your coat and chuck it on the ice for good measure!) Personally, I'm glad the Toqueheads don't do this...they'd be throwing DON CHERRY dolls on the ice left and right! (since the NHL is not only dead but apparently pulling their "OWN" plug on life support....sad!! )

perfect!!! Let's do it!!
-
and YES!! THE GREAT ONE is definately in GF!!! KVLY had a shot of him in a suite in the Ralph at the USA-SWEDEN game!!! ESPN didn't show him (out of courtesy I guess ) - might be the worst kept secret EVER
-
So lets PACK that place Sunday night and at least give the Canadians a run for their money as BEST FANS of the tourney!! (that's a tough hill to climb - they're NUTS!) They did the 'big screen' shuffle tonight...(showing the canadian fans... BOO!!) ...then US Fans (YEAH!!!)..then the Canadian fans shouted everyone down with "BEL-A-RUS...BEL-A-RUS!!" Almost funnier the second time around!!! This tourney has been a BLAST!!! I pity the hockey fan that's missed out....
-
WHOAA!!! Does that chick on the right have a MOUSTACHE!!! Hey - maybe TSN should do a Ms. BUTTERFACE contest like Howard Stern!!! If that page is HOT in Canada...I PITY YOU FOOLS!!
-
hear ya!! My father in law (who goes to most Sioux games but ALWAYS has Hennessy on regardless) said the exact same thing tonight!! He said "Tim puts you IN THE GAME - those guys keep you OUT of the game!) They are very VANILLA!!! Plus, unlike ESPN2 who's been pumping up the crowd excitement - I noticed these clowns were talking about the "sedated" USA crowd at the Ralph (Even when I could hear "USA....USA" in the background Do I sense a LITTLE BITTERNESS about having to travel to ND to work during the holidays? maybe it's just me!!
-
so NOW is the chance for local fans to TURN OUT...beat the, so far, Canadian attendance record, and hopefully compete with the Canadian fans for sheer enthusiasm! I expect US fans won't compete for gross beer sales though....man those Hoser Bladders are HUGE!!!
-
plus you know what those European guys have most American guys don't.... a funny accent!
-
Let the Canadians talk all they want! They won't face a serious challenge in their pool and probably only if and when they meet the Russians in the crossover. Glass has been okay but not super solid in net - that might be their vulnerability if the US can keep Crosby in check and away from the doorstep on powerplays. That guy is such a keen opportunist he makes ZPar look "average" (and that's saying a lot) The US can hope for another "miracle" if they make it to the gold medal game. I have been impressed by the Canadian fans (especially Monday and excluding the EXTREMELY drunk ones) They stayed in their seats in a blowout...singing and chanting...TRUE hockey fans I'd say. Sioux fans could learn a little from them...like not worrying about getting out of the parking lot early and just ENJOYING THE MOMENT!!! They had the Ralph rocking on Monday like the old Ralph used too....I never realized until then how much I missed the old place...

glad to hear there was a good crowd for the Swiss-Belarus game today!! Saw some vid from TRF between periods of the Canada-Slovakia game saturday and it looked REALLY thin. Herald said +-570 for the afternoon game and 700+ for the evening game there...Video looked like a LOT less...guess they must have been hitting up the concession stands when the cam was on...
-
Great atmosphere for the opener against the Russians! The "official" crowd of 9000+ was into it and if you saw the penalty shot - with the crowd roaring when the Russian started skating - then after he scored he put his hand to his ear - MAN! that was just gas on the fire after that!! Cheering for your country is different than just cheering for your team - and it's only going to get better as the tourney rolls along.

In part because of the very good promotional skills of team Canada - tickets were $5 Canadian What is that? Like $3.50 US?? Ketchup for your hotdog will be more than that at the Ralph. I'm not going to bitch about the Ralph and USA Hockeys pricing structure but it seems like if they would have made single game tickets a little cheaper than $40 for US and Canada games - they would have been sold out for every US/Canada game a long time ago. Hell - if you want to park in REA's lots - it's $100 ALONE for the tournament I know they put up a big guarentee to host the tourney and need to make their money back but there's a lot of nickel and diming going on that's turned a lot of people off. I've got Canadian friends who are waiting until the Medal round to come down (I guess GF Hotels piling on and boosting their rates 100-200% didn't help either but that's another story)

Yeah - I'm vague on when that vote took place. Thought it was about '96 or '97 but whatever. I do think you're right about the DI talk (yeah - they'll say they've been planning it for 20 years but the REAL PUSH came when they started seeing the writing on the wall) UND was overtaking their "prominence" with success and facilities. They HAD to do something - turned out DI hockey didn't fly in the "metro" so they cranked up the heat to do the College equivalent of Thelma and Louise....they drove over the all-sports DI (except football which is di-aa) CLIFF!!! Question is when will they hit bottom???
-
okay...we're not worthy...we're not worthy...glad you've already signed up Mayville, Jamestown, and UMC for your BIG non-di opponents next season! You guys (and I use the term in ndsu WBB precisely!!) have gotten really to good for all of us. So exactly WHO are the BIG DI opponents you've "filled" your schedule with next season??? Are you only playing 10 games next season?? is ONE of them at home?? (((OOHHH!!! Oral Roberts South Utah Reserve Campus is COMING TO FARGO!!!! - BUY YOUR TICKETS NOW!!!! ) PS - don't blame US for not wanting to play a BIG DI SCHOOL - blame yourself for considering yourself a BIG DI SCHOOL!
-
AWESOME!!! and it will be actual VIDEO - like the REAL GAME?? not just crappy 8-point agate type scrolling a score across the bottom of the screen that seems to make "SOME" people south of us pee in their pants?? VERY COOL!!!! GO RALPH GO!!!
-
AND FINALLY!!!! Carissa Jahner has GREAT PIPES!!!
-
hey TeamSioux...didn't see your post before I posted mine...obviously GREAT MINDS THINK ALIKE!!!
-
I think this is why Roebuck was poking around the last couple weeks looking to "renew" the Sioux-Bison rivalry - he knows he's going to be loaded and would LOVE to shove it in Amy's face by beating a "?d1?" team. He was pretty much told 'su had "filled" their schedule for next year (yeah, right!) Now who's AFRAID to play whom??
-
I've seen you there...with the showtime (?) sign right?? I think you should be there but maybe you're upsetting the old people who are grumbling about paying $2.50 for a coke!! The Betty is a great venue to watch a game but you can tell the Marilyn Hagerty crowd is pissy and won't cheer unless they HAVE TOO!! Kind of disapointing...and I don't know the league rules about you sitting behind the opponents bench although I don't recall any Sioux fans behind the opposing bench at the Hyslop(?)
-
screw that smoke-free PC thing....how 'bout making it SMOKE-MANDATORY!!! Like you walk in the door and they stick a GIANT monopoly-guy CIGAR IN YOUR MOUTH AT THE DOOR AND LIGHT IT!!! oh yeah....that's the stuff!!
-
went by there today and looks like they're going to be pulling LONG NIGHTS to be ready by Christmas (ie the World Jr's) - it's not even fully enclosed on the exterior yet and we're less than a week and a half away...

i have heard the food is KILLER and just walking in there makes your mouth REALLY water!! Maybe it's cooled off now... PS - anyone been to Coldstone Creamery? We knew about them and laughed when they opened an Ice Cream store in Grand Forks in DECEMBER but we went there the other night at 8:30 and there were at least a dozen people in line ahead of us! It's awesome but cheapos be prepared...it's about $5 for a decent mix but it's WORTH IT...ohh..SO WORTH IT -
ndsu's BRIEF window of opportunity with DI hockey died back in the mid-90's when they were floating the proposal - The WCHA told them in no uncertain terms they wouldn't be an "automatic" addition to the league just BECAUSE of their geography and then Fargo voters overwhelmingly turned down a sales tax increase to build a new hockey arena next to the fargobarn (about 65-35 if I recall right). POOFF!! Rejection by an established league back then popped their aura of "but WE'RE ndsu!! " - how ironic ten years later the Big Sky would take a page from the WCHA's book! 'su will forever be a fb school and for the forseeable future, a mediocre fb school without a real home.
