Another TIME OUT/Wacipi week has come and gone at UND...coverage in the Herald was pretty much confined to a single crappy photo with a caption (and possibly a mention in the City Briefs - I don't read ALL of that rag ) Isn't it FUNNY "they" didn't dive on this opportunity to bring up the nickname issue again? Perhaps some articles about how participants hate the name but like this event? How about an article about "this a chance for you to learn about Lakota/Dakota/Nakota culture?" - NOTHING! How about this is just a nice ANNUAL event that UND hosts to provide a bridge between cultures? ...eh...I guess it was the 10 year anniversary of the flood....okay This could have been an opportunity for Doreen Y.B. to provide some real journalist insight...perhaps actually talk to participants instead of pontificating about her opinions by writing a real news story with a neutral reporters' view instead of an "editorital" view. Maybe it just didn't work out...or maybe she was on vacation...or maybe we can just wait for her next poorly written editorial against the Sioux nickname...sorry, gotta go line my birdcage now...

when RT was AD - he hired "our guys" - not a bad move... When $$$$ became an issue - we hired an AD who made decisions based on certain criteria - not "ties" - also NOT a BAD IDEA (fresh blood?) Dale might leave (after his current contract is done) - if he's offered another job based on his success...it would be up to him to take it or leave it...that's the way it works! UND (at best) can aspire to mid-major status in DI...check with UNI if they could or would be able to keep a coach like Greg McDermott or they'd have to settle for a Ben Jacobson?? He seems to have done fine in the interim...

JT's had success at every level he's ever played - except one! Didn't bother ZP...he had a $4 million waiting for him at the end of the rainbow...who would blame DrewS? It wasn't just ND fans picking up Sioux shirts...I talked to a couple Michigan State fans who were buying Sioux stuff because they thought "they'd be collectors items someday" I asked them in if they thought there was anything racist in the way UND fans or the team represented themselves? They said no, but they thought UND would have to change the name anyway...

Thanks Sagard...the Gophers are 2nd only to ndsWHO in my (often INSANE) BLIND SPORTS HATRED but it was a great game and it was settled on the ice. I do appreciate class though...and if you can't return that extra bottle of BLONDE #27 you bought for the FF...I'm willing to kick in a bit to cut your losses (JOKE! ) Hopefully we can do the WCHA proud!
