  1. North Dakota State Boys High School Hockey Championship Game: Grand Forks Red River 7, Grafton-Park River 1. GFRR brings the title back to Grand Forks (where it belongs) and brings home title #16. The Spoilers, meanwhile finish Runner-Up at State for the 12th time, further cementing their position as Runner-Up High in North Dakota! Bwaaahahahahaha!!!!
  2. 6-1 Grand Forks Red River, 6:41 left in the game.
  3. The 1997 team had a fair number of ND kids on it. The 2000 team did as well. And we all know how those teams finished!!!
  4. 4-1 Riders, less than 2 minutes in the 2nd period.
  5. You are negative as usual.
  6. I think I'll join the party this year.
  7. Yes, I read the story in the Heraldo on that. It's still a travesty. If there is one tournament that should be in Grand Forks, it's the state hockey tournament. If they have to have the boys and girls tournaments in different towns, then do it. We'll see what kind of attendance they have for this in that overpriced, overhyped, ugly-as-sin arena formerly known as the UP Center. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
  8. We should just go all the way and give ALL the state tournaments to Imperial Cass. It's the only part of the state that matters, right?
  9. Red River will be determined to win it all this year because of what happened last year. I would go ahead and call it a "choke job", but I don't want to get in trouble with Faison!
  10. Whatever you want to call it, it makes the Heraldo look like a tool of UND Public Relations. Not good.
  11. Tom Miller's piece was pure UND brown-nosing. I thought the media's job was to be objective and to hold the establishment accountable?
  12. Tom Miller (and especially YOU Wayne Nelson), stop calling our teams this!!! Take Ryan Bakken's advice and knock it off!!! Thank you.
  13. I am thinking it was 1977.
  14. And everytime someone even suggests changing them, a bunch of parents whine and complain about it. And I believe most of them can be seen at the ND State Hockey Tournament every year wearing red sweater vests and khakis. Honestly people, Grand Forks is (and will continue) growing southward. At some point, you will have to change the boundaries or else one school will have lots of empty spaces and the other will be overcrowded. And no, adding onto Red River HS is NOT a solution.
  15. I know Kellen Briggs does!
  16. The WCHA Final Five will be a shell of its former self starting in 2014. The greatest tournament in the country is being cannibalized because Penn State decided to start a hockey program. The X won't make nearly as much money from this tournament as they have been.
  17. Yeah, we have a lot of near-misses and shoulda-woulda-coulda's in there. As long as Imperial Cass and GPR don't take home too many titles, I can live with it.
  18. Anyone that puts Ralph Engelstad on their version of an all-time team should get a DQ just for that. Our whole program has begun to revolve around Ralph Engelstad, the number "23", Ralph Engelstad Arena and UND players in the NHL and that is not a healthy dynamic. Please people, limit your selections to players that made a difference in winning games and championships.
  19. Nice job cherry-picking results. GFRR still has some catching up to do when it comes to state titles.
  20. Unlike a lot of people here, I just haven't fallen in love with the new arena. Too much flash and glitz. Maybe I am just getting older and crabbier, I don't know.
  21. Yeah, I still miss the place. I went to so many games there as a kid. I saw the Hrkac Circus in 1987. I watched the Blais Dynasty being built in the 1990s. It didn't have the bells and whistles of the current REA, but it was a pure hockey arena and you could feel the tradition and presence of the program every time you set foot in there. And I also remember all the ND State Hockey Tournaments that took place there, lots of memories at those as well. I might have to take the digital camera and get some pictures before the wrecking ball comes.
  22. Two points is a must. Anything more would be a bonus. Anything less would be a disaster.
  23. This is a microcosm of what is wrong with our athletic department right now. All this "duckies and bunnies, sunshine and smiles" BS has to stop. We have struggled in FB and MBB since moving up our programs. But, according to MR. Faison, if everyone isn't perfectly positive all the time, there will be consequences. Standards are being lowered and those lower standards are being strictly enforced. And that is not a healthy dynamic going forward. Ralston was just telling it like it was. I am sorry if Faison can't handle it.
  24. I think Grand Forks did a superb job after the 2009 Christmas storm (26 inches). The storm started Thursday night and was over by Saturday night; by Sunday you could get around town pretty good.
