    I don't think the salaries in this agreement can be compared to the millions of dollars that professional men's basketball and hockey players get. Get the NHL and NBA players out of international competition and offer amateur men's athletes a similar deal to what the women's hockey players got. That would level the playing field and allow our amateur athletes who have full-time jobs to be able to afford to compete in international tournaments. Bottom line: I want the best athletes the United States has to compete on the international stage in every sport. Winning is good for national pride and for the development of sports at the youth level (the 1980 Miracle on Ice did that for hockey in a big way).

    The fans are being impatient. Hakstol doesn't have enough talent to win at a high level. That is something management needs to work on.

    This whole thing is an unintended consequence of allowing professional athletes into the Olympics. It has trickled down to the IIHF level as well. Get professionals out of the Olympics and things will even out.

Because anyone who doesn't march lock-step with classical economic orthodoxy has earned the scorn of others, right? Amen Jocelyne! A-freaking-men! It's too bad your former supporters on this forum don't feel the same way. I don't care if I am the only one on here that feels this way, but good luck at the World Championship tournament and beat those insufferable Canadians!

    I have moved on. I just think something like this needs to be talked about and needs to be looked at by the rules committee so this doesn't happen to another team.

It was the first thing I thought of when that travesty of justice went down on Friday.

    No, no, no!!! That would be running UND athletics like a high school. Either keep the program and do what it takes to bring home championships or cut it and reallocate those resources to MBB, WBB, FB and VB.

    They might have been talking about the differences in how the X runs an event vs. the Target Center. The X is heads and shoulders above the Target Center in that regard.

    On the nickname/logo controversy, you are correct. On this issue, I don't think so.

    I didn't like the implication that the main reason we want to go back to the X is because we think it will be just like the old Final Five. Most people understand that wouldn't be the case. I think people understand the differences between the two better than Schlossman gives them credit for.
