Victim's mom is relishing the opportunity to do the media rounds.

The more I looked into it all back then the Victims mom and fam are definitely not angelic...

TBH I'm shocked they don't let him get to the show then go after civil damages.

that's doesnt change the fact he did what he did.

He has lost a lot already.

I know 8th graders who have done much worse and become better people from their past.

I'll let the good Lord judge him

2 challenged overturned goals and 2 challenged majors and DQs?

    This game is wild.

No its just an aweful job of officiating tonight.

    Lines has been especially atrocious.

As for the 5... shoulder then turned in .... maybe 2 for boarding... maybe... maybe 2 for embellishment..

5 on Omaha? if onaha would have reviewed the reviewed review there may have been an offsetting contact to the head.

I might have access to a laser level so I will be finding out soon what the situation is.

    Yep Minot should be great

    Slope Slope Slope Slope Slope

It's amazing how muchvslope is there, if you want 4 to 6 inches of skatable ice... many people toss up some 2x8... Nope that's a disaster waiting to happen.

My "Flat" backyard ended up with 24" of water in one corner and 4 inches of ice in the opposite.

Which brings up a distant #2 concern.... BRACING.

Perfectly flat and can get by with 2x6 or 2x8... can be staked... if put up before ground freeze I've seen wooden stakes work... barely.

I use the 12 or 18" metal concrete form stake/rod things. Spaced at short intervals those have seemed to work up to the 2x12 boards.

Anything more and I brace with angle braces...

If ...when... you end up with deep areas... there are different ideas to "fill" the area to reduce water...

bags of mulch... dirt... all work pallets covered in bags of dirt..

best I've used .... foam insulation panels.

It sounds like alot of work.. it is... its not cheap.

    100% worth it.

I am thinking about putting in a backyard ice rink this winter. I have done a bit of reading and on using a liner vs. not using a liner and just packing snow, etc.  Does anyone on this forum do a rink?  And if so, thoughts on how best to do it?

Where abouts are you located... because in our "local" area there is a vast difference between the different climates.

In the north valley you will have a much different experience than the banana belt of Bismarck area and even more so from the western part of the state.

I know you're not in northern MN because each city will issue you a rink at mortgage closing there.

Will be interesting to hear if the Bruin's will hear from the victim's family, or if he isn't going to be allowed back in society.

Will also be interesting to see if the asstwat on this site who called for him to commit suicide will pipe back up.

    Liner. YES. White.

If its bigger than 10x20... and smaller than 60x150...... liner.

I like Blue Lake plastics but many good options..

Measure the slope.. It looks flat right.. its not flat.

Measure slope and plan boards accordingly. A Lazer level at dusk will save you so much time and $$

Make a homeboni. pvc, some couplings, an old towel..

  7. The big issue on those offsides calls is the "possession" of the puck... if it's not on the players stick in their control its not "possessed" ... andnit wasn't....

So as the puck wasn't on the players stick, teammate has time to tag up, which he did......

In game speed, the play looked iffy....

In still photos it was 100% dead to rights offside.

In super minute HD replay slow motion, looking at every frame with a FULL and complete understanding of the rule, the play is technically onside.

I accept and understand making a bad call in game speed as part of the game, especially offsides... err on the side of "it can be reviewed" IMHO....

However, I expect the officials to get this right in the box. They didn't.

Jackson was right to be pissed but no official is going back under the hood and admitting they didn't fully understand the rule.

I have a gripe against NIL, or at least my understanding of NIL. I thought NIL was supposed to be a way for colleges with revenue-rich programs to share some of their money with the players who are generating all that revenue. The obvious examples are SEC football programs and blue-blood men's basketball programs.

So along comes NIL rights for college athletes. But instead of the money coming from the college athletic departments, NIL money has to come directly from the fans through fan collectives. The colleges, as I understand it, aren't even allowed to give money directly to the athletes.

So NIL has become another fee for fans, even though many (most?) of whom are probably already maxed out on what they can afford to spend on tickets, merchandise, travel, streaming subscriptions, and direct support of their favorite athletic department. Now we have to donate even more money to a Collective so that our team can get good players to be competitive? And if our team doesn't win, then it's our fault because we didn't give enough money to lure the best players to his team? Is that the new reality?

Good post. . thats an interesting and probably accurate way to look at it.

I see it's intent more as an avenue for the player to do the work of obtaining the comp for their NIL....

But that is not the reality.... you are more accurate in your assessment.
