Blame that on the abysmal hire of 2008 … Not going DI and losing Lennon to SIU (and becoming more of a “puck school”) plays into that. Failure to set expectations above NDSU has hurt UND football for decades.

One and done year after year isn’t exactly fun … Goal needs to be to find a way to beat NDSU and SDSU and win some playoff games. Strive to improve, not stay the same. With that, I’m looking forward to the season, also.

Going 3-3 to start the season and simply making the playoffs would be a repeat of the last several years. Same ol, same ol. Would be nice to see the program and this team actually take the next step, but perfectly reasonable to expect they won’t given the stale current structure and expectations for UND football. We will see how it goes …. but 3-3 to start is reasonable, unfortunately.

OL has definitely shown overall improvement. If we’re talking about 2023 (next season), I have very little concerns about the offense as a whole. I think it as a unit is capable of winning the conference. The issue, however, is the defense. At this juncture, it’s a major liability. Hopefully there will be positive surprises this season. More interesting, Bubba - the defensive minded HC - is folding his cards to his eventual successor.

It also means NDSU will certainly go FBS then. Hopefully UND learned from their previous mistakes (in not following NDDU to D1 initially) and follows suit.
