  1. Here's a couple links with some renderings:

I don't think our facilities are any better than what they are currently putting together...

Perhaps, but that remains to be seen I guess. At best, SDSU will be right on par with UND. Both will have an IPF but the Alerus is still a nice facility and possible advantage - it's indoors and has the CanadInn attachment. There's no question SDSU is making nice upgrades though.

  2. Jacks got a good coach and a hell of a recruiter. IMHO - He will hurt UND on the recruiting trail.

SDSU has more to sell than UND?

He better not hurt UND on the recruiting trail; that would be an embarrassment. UND should/will out recruit SDSU, especially with the superior facilities.

  3. Glad your standards are so low. Makes things easier doesn't it.

Low standards? The Ag school maybe won the NC in football, but how's their women sports? I'll answer that for you: horrible. Also, our hockey team is tied for first in the conference and every year is a possible NC year in hockey. Actually, have the bizon defeated us head-to-head in anything this year? Of course not. Keep digging dirt - it's all the bizon are truly good at.

  4. Which is also tied for 3rd in the conference, right in the neighborhood of where they were picked to finish in the conference in the preseason.

No use to try and justify this team's performance thus far. They were picked 2nd and they won't finish 2nd. They are 8-7 in the conference and last year they went 12-8. They are one loss away from tying that mark which is unacceptable considering what this team gained (Nash, Stefan, Calceterra, Salmonson, Hooker, etc.) and what other Big Sky teams lost.

Jones' squad has choked this season...horribly. No way around it. If he doesn't produce next season, then UND and Faison best cut ties with him. UND basketball deserves better. The Big Sky conference should allow UND to compete for the NCAA tournament each and every year. I'm not sure this year's team will even make the BSC tournament.

Despite all this, I still hold out hope we make the BSC tournament and get hot there.

  5. it is amazing to me how time and time again this team with the experience they have can come out to start a game looking like my softball team does on a Sunday morning 8 am game in Detroit Lakes or at Red Willow. I can see having a clunker here or there or coming out flat a couple times but every other game is ridiculous.

The fact that this team is so experienced is the part that is especially concerning. Jones really has me wondering if he knows what he's doing.

  6. I believe Jones made a comment somewhere along the line that they need to hold a team to under 70 points and if they do that, they win.

The stats back it up as well. 8-0 when the opposing team is held under 70 points, 3-4 when the opposing team scores between 70-77 points and 0-10 when the opposing team scores 78 or more.

It's all about defense, defense, defense!

Right now, I think the two major concerns that affect the defense are rebounding and turnovers. If the defense can limit offensive rebounds and, when UND has the ball, not turn the ball over, this team has the ability to hold any Big Sky team to under 70. Now, whether they can execute that and perform down this stretch run remains to be seen.

  7. Just comparing your scores against the worst team in the conference - Weber smoked Idaho State last year and how did you guys do? They played the Montana's and EWU closer than you did.

NDSU is an overrated Ag school

    UND is the flagship university

UND is well renown nationally. NDSU is known just within the valley.

Wanna talk about recruiting!? Our recruits get a better education. And pretty soon they'll be getting a lot of wins too.

Now go home and dig some dirt.

  8. Tons easier to recruit at SIU than in ND (have new stadium too). The amount of DI athletes within 250 miles is better by far. Ask any SIU fan about Lennon's time at SIU and you won't like what you hear.

That's entirely speculative. In my opinion, there may be more DI athletes in Southern Illinois/Missouri area, but there's also way more DI competition in that area. The long-term DI success of UNI indicates to me that Minnesota/Wisconsin is an FCS hot zone for recruiting. Of course, throwing in Michigan and Illinois is quite important as well.

  9. The only thing bubba has is a throbbing handprint on his ass from what the Herd did to his defense this season.

You're either too young or do not have a good long-term memory, or both. Bubba's defenses down at SIU definitely had their moments with the almighty bizon of ag school nation.

Add in the better connections he has at UND for recruiting and you'll see a recipe for success. Bubba is the kind of coach whose passion and respect for UND will allow the football program to reach its absolute full potential - something that Mussman didn't even scratch the surface of while he was HC.

  10. That's your opinion fine. Sounds more like a wish as I doubt you know what underclassmen we have coming up.

Of course it would sound like a "wish" to you.

Kind of like how you "wish" your ag school football program wasn't recently denounced due to their arrogance and brash recruiting behavior.

  11. This is the same BS that we saw last year at this time. Muss is great he's all world, etc ,etc, wait until next year, etc. Now Bubba is all world. Hasn't had a practice or game yet..... Last time I looked SIU was a middle of the road FCS team. Nice to see that the delusional posters are still around.

    I got a bite!

I can guarantee you most, including myself, were not proclaiming Mussman as a great coach at this time last year. How could we after he was coming off a 2012 season where he blew the final game at Northern Colorado by failing to know basic football 101.

Nevertheless, if you don't think losing Bohl and your almighty 2013 senior class will hurt you, then well, you are the delusional one. The question is whether or not Klieman can reload your "untouchable program". Obviously the easy reply is let's wait and see, but I prefer to utilize realistic likelihoods and conclude that your team has no where else to go but down. You've lost your leaders and the team will become complacent. Hope you can handle losing cause you will experience it this season ag school nation.

Lastly, in defense of Coach Schweigert and North Dakota's Flagship University, North Dakota is a much better place for FCS schools than Southern Illinois. The states of Minnesota and Wisconsin, both having only one DI university, produce excessive talent each and every year that can be best utilized by the FCS schools of the region (UND, NDSU, SDSU, USD, UNI, etc). Five years ago, Bohl unbelievably capitalized on Minnesota's talent while Mussman & company were snoozing. Its also the reason UNI and SDSU have been good (UNI much longer than SDSU of course); its because they emphasize Minnesota, Wisconsin, and other midwest states with excessive DI talent that gets overlooked. By putting up a fight with NDSU this past recruiting season, and also with only a month to do that, Bubba has convinced me early on that he is capable of pulling in that area talent competitively with NDSU, UNI, and SDSU. That will turn UND around quite quickly - just watch.

  12. Forced to commit? How do you do that? I don't think you can compare your recruiting since going DI to our's in any way possible. The results speak for themselves. All recruits are told where they stand as scholarships go, as we usually don't hold them to the last day.

Klieman and his staff are apparently irrational and arrogant.

Bubba and his staff have the work ethic, sincerity, and passion that will eventually allow UND to retake the state of North Dakota in the near future.

Enjoy the repossession campaign over the next 3 to 5 years.

The Ag bizon can't always be on top and they're really gonna end up missing Bohl, IMO.

  13. @BFeldmanCBS: Brooks Bollinger, #Pitt's QB coach the past two seasons, has resigned "to pursue non-coaching opportunities."

If he ever decides to return to coaching, I'd like to think there definitely would be room on our offensive coaching staff.

  14. I agree it's going to be tough but I actually like what our lineup could look like next year or at least I don't think we are going to be in complete rebuild.

We won't be in a complete rebuild, but when you lose all the seniors that we will, it won't be good.

Look at it this way: If Jones can't consistently produce wins against Big Sky competition with 4th-year players that have been coached their entire career by him, then how will he do it next year with all the youth?

This year had all the pieces in place for a legitimate run at the conference championship; now, however, we're just trying to make the tournament. That's just plain bad. Since I readily support the basketball program, I'm still hoping this team can start rolling come Saturday against Montana, and with a little luck, still end up with the #2 seed in the conference tournament. However, we all know that will be an uphill climb for this team and Jones right now.

I hate to think about Jones being let go because that means this season and next season will both be disappointments. Let it be known, I will continue to support this team and be hopeful, but Jones hasn't convinced me yet. This situation is beginning to look more and more like the Mussman situation, and we all know how that turned out.
