I was thinking the same thing. Looks like Weber State and Eastern Washington are the top two at this early juncture.

As the FBS regular season comes to a close next weekend, it sounds like Bubba and his staff will be going after some FBS transfers this winter. I feel that is a positive move given where this program is; just a few offensive play-makers away from being a playoff club. The defense is looking good for next year, and FBS transfers treated that unit good this year (hit on 2 of 3 transfers). As for offense, 2012 and Braden Hanson (North Carolina) come to mind. As I see it, the biggest needs that transfers would address are: WR, RB, DB, OL

NDSU was a lot better this year than I thought. Have to give that program credit; they know how to win and recruit/develop players. I was right about UND, and they're on pace for a winning football club in 2015.
-
Should've beat Montana. I'm buying the turnaround.
-
Quarterback is only as good as the pieces around him. No running game early in the year (oline atill developing) and no receivers late in the year. Offensive line, running back, and receiver are all positions of need for 2015; defense looks set for at least next year. Of course, need to be constantly developing depth.

Women's hockey is a minority sport in terms of intercollegiate athletics; unless the major revenue sports (football, basketball, and M hockey) are funded, it's detrimental to distribute so much of the financial resources. Football and even basketball deserves more support.

Quarterback position is a moot point right now. Anyone of the three quarterbacks who played this season (assuming they're healthy) are capable, if the offense around them has sufficient talent and depth. Right now, that is not the case. Next season, UND needs new starters at running back and wide receiver, and offensive line still needs attention in my opinion (losing 2 starters due to graduation and need better depth). The defense looked good this season but even that unit acquired FBS transfers and JUCOs; offense NEEDS an FBS transfer or two for next season.

Powell does a good job; however, he's not the SID. The SID is, well, the HID.

NDSU doesn't get #1 seed #1 seed belongs to New Hampshire NDSU does get the #2 seed #3 Jacksonville State Big Sky Conference Champs, EWU Eagles, get #4 seed #5 Illinois State (2nd MVFC team) #6 Villanova #7 Coastal Carolina #8 Chattanooga MVFC and CAA only conferences to get 2 teams in top 8 Big Sky gets in three teams: #4 EWU, Montana, and Montana State Of note: Montana State hosts South Dakota State in the first round; the winner will play NDSU. Potential for NDSU to finally play Montana State in the FargoDome after Montana State bought out that regular season game.

Agree. Way too much invested in women's hockey. Then again, that's apart of UND's athletic department not knowing if UND is in the USA or Canada. UND doesn't have a true SID; they have an HID.
-
I agree. I want an athletic department that understands UND is not in Canada and football - as the outright number one sport in America - deserves to have a ton of attention. That means more money to coaches, more marketing of the product, and better presentation at the Alerus on gameday.

Take a close look, folks. This is how UND is intended to look with Bubba's running game and pressure defense. Future looks bright.
-
Offensive line has improved a ton too.
-
Damn that's not good

UND sounds good. More unselfish talent playing this year apparently. Potential for a surprisingly good season perhaps?
-
Doubtful it was offered last year. Good try though.

That quote would never belong to Faison or Kelley. Shame UND athletics is being led with no direction.
-
Only losing to Northern Iowa by 12 (down 2 at half) was an encouraging sign, considering 3 suspected contributors didn't play. With that said, tonight's game was a little shaky.

Facility is on track thus far. I'm still optimistic it'll be ready for spring football practices, which would be fantastic! -
If somehow Ray Purpur could be persuaded to take the AD job at UND, that would be one of the biggest accomplishments for UND athletics in a long time, if not ever. If you and your GOBC think they can accomplish that, go for it!

There's a lot of "not caring" going on with football. Both the UND athletic department (i.e., Faison) and President Kelley need to change their view on football and just athletics in general. Faison seems to me to be really complacent lately (perhaps ready for retirement?). I think UND athletics needs some new, hungry blood in charge because UND football could be improved so much just by selling the product better, and that starts with the game day atmosphere.
